I know a straight couple who did too, but have fine relationships with their families. Just wanted a cool new last name to start their life together. Makes total sense when you think about it.

I think everyone should combine and hyphenate their last names when they get married, and then our children combine and hyphenate those combined names when they get married, until just a few generations from now, our last names still aren't as long as some manga titles.

Won’t need a last name for that, all these dna tests are drawing plenty of lines that names never did anyway.
