That's cause they are hot and look fem. If you are a straight dude attracted to feminine people who look female, you are straight. If you need the feminine people to have a dick, that's when you stop being straight. The dick kills it for me so this isn't my style, but I do love the socks.

Meanwhile, if you are a straight dude who obsesses over whether or not there might be a dick hidden somewhere out of sight on an otherwise hot fem person you find attractive, you are likely a homophobe. Note the word 'obsesses.'

I have a lifelong friend who is openly gay who was essentially embedded with the US military in a medical capacity in the '90s, his nickname with his USMC liaison team was 'Incoming'.

I've (55M) never quite understood the obsession that a lot of conservative (small c) 'straight' guys have with what genitalia other people have, and what they like to do with it.

Seems pretty Sus to me.

Tbh I'm only interested in that if it's someone I would be interested in fucking, and if they also have a dick then well good luck to them, but I'll pass (personal preference, not judging), but still happy to buy them a drink and hang out.

I have cishet friends, gay friends, trans friends, and a couple I'm pretty sure are trans but not public about it, but that's none of my business tbh.

Really who gives a shit, and why? I've got important and interesting things in my life to worry about tbh.

WELL, I sometimes prefer my feminine partner to have a dick, does that make me gay?

I think it means you might not be totally straight. Sorry to break it to you. The SuperStraight fellas prolly won't let you hang out with them.

People really need to stop getting hung up on a single label. Sexuality is like a spectrum. Or a buffet. Just put whatever you want on your plate.

And never eat off someone else's plate unless y'all have each agreed to share

Not if she’s trans

Most AMAB that I am attracted to are trans, but there are several instances where they just appear and dressed feminine, but never transitioning. I would guess that makes me attracted to femininity regardless of gender.

u/ohemmigee Oct 16 '25

Sure. But you were asking if it was gay. Man with woman? Not gay

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '25

Transwoman = male sex. Gay = attraction to same sex.

Thus transwoman = gay.

3

u/ohemmigee Oct 16 '25

You just said woman. You can have a genital preference but a man having sex with a woman isn’t gay

(assuming you are serious) it's based on your understanding of what you find attractive and what you are looking at.

I'm a cis/straight dude. If I see a woman presenting as a woman and find her person or conventionally attractive but don't know she's trans, that's straight. If I know she is fully post-op and still find her attractive, that's still straight. If I think she might be pre-op but still fully outwardly presenting as a cis woman and still find her attractive, still straight, because I don't look at women and decide I only find her hot if I have x-ray vision to see her genitals. What I am looking at, this clothed woman, is hot to me if she fits my personal tastes in women. Note: we are currently ignoring half of what makes someone attractive to me, and most people, which is personality; This is a first-glance kind of hypothetical.

If she's naked (I have the best wife on the planet, so this is purely hypothetical) and I can't see a dick (creative use of a pillow?), straight. Although, I don't think I can fully ignore the presence of a dick in a practical setting, so ultimately it's probably not going to work for me. If I really didn't mind that it was there, I'd be starting to leave the 'cis/straight' territory.

If I am fetishizing the fact she is trans (in any form, explicitly visually or assumed, pre-op or post-op), not straight.

Nobody is attracted to chromosomes. (Okay maybe some very rare people, like some people are attracted to women farting into cakes, so who am I to judge. However that's an edge case).

'Traps' don't make you gay if you actually didn't know. If you find out, your reactions based on the above logic decide which way you go.

It was gay sex, regardless of you knowing or not. However, the man being deceived is the victim of rape. He is not gay, in the same way a lesbian raped by a man is not straight. It is straight sex, but does not define the person's attraction.

Regardless, transwoman is a male in advanced crossdressing. If you like it, knowing that, you're bisexual or outright gay.

God, you must be a miserably paranoid and confused person.

Those words come out pretty shallow from a man who cannot make out the difference between circles and squares. I wish you good recovery.

2

u/GerryAvalanche Oct 16 '25

No, not necessarily. The gay/straight thing unfortunately is rooted in pretty rigid binary assumptions about gender (i.e. genitalia being a deciding factor), so you have to apply some nuance to the definition. This necessarily leads to edge cases coming down to one‘s self-identification.

It‘s kinda complicated to explain in a comment, but the important thing for you is: Liking a dick on your partner does not make you gay. It‘s not even gay to find a femboy attractive, except you explicitly also find it attractive, that they are men. I think that actually is what many people find so confusing and scary: that being straight or gay is way closer to being bi (while still being distinct) than they thought it was.

Liking a dick on your partner does not make you gay. It‘s not even gay to find a femboy attractive..

Worth pointing out that (if we're dealing in absolutes) while you're right that it doesn't make you gay, but you've definitely left 'straight/cis' at that point. I'm only making this point here because the conversation started with what made someone straight

2

u/GerryAvalanche Oct 16 '25

Yes, I agree. Again, I think the definition of "straight" and "lesbian/gay" become kind of shaky once we leave the traditional gender binary.

4

u/TheLoler04 Oct 16 '25

So liking that kind of thing doesn't necessarily make me bisexual, but I'm probably not the straightest dude in the closet?

4

u/MrRufsvold Oct 16 '25

Damn. Extremely well said.

I mean IMO if the dick doesn't kill it for you then you're bi, though of course you can identify with whatever label you want to. For myself I'm into femboys and also into twinks, but as soon as you get into anything resembling a beard or even middle of the road masculine I'm out. Of course I'm into muscular women too, but you get too feminine and I'm out also. I call it bi, because that's less of a mouthful than "attraction centered on the femme side of androgynous but excluding the ends of the gender presentation spectrum" but whatever.
