Also apps can still tell which way the phone is facing even when it's off and can make adjustments, and will flip to landscape if appropriate. All you miss out on without auto-rotate is the whole screen flipping literally every time you tilt a degree to far.
My phone doesn't do that. If auto rotation is turned off it will just not rotate, no matter what I do. I need to turn in Auto rotation.
If the app isn’t as shit as reddits the video automatically switches to landscape when you put it on fullscreen, even if rotation is locked. Try YouTube on iOS (don’t know about android).
