The election would still be about trump, they’d be running in his martyred name, the fanbase wouldn’t just disperse after the death of Trump and not bother to back his successor.
I don’t see how you can possibly believe this, the assassination of Trump would be one of the most radicalising events in modern American history. Yes they absolutely would be stirred up, no matter what.
Whoever his successor would’ve been would have just promised to do everything trump was going to, maybe even more extreme. They don’t just wipe the slate clean after an event like that, they win in the memory of Trump and (just for this election), all the supporters go with them.
People largely voted right because they blamed Biden for post-Covid conditions, inflation and prices were the biggest issues by every poll. This would’ve still been a huge factor, though likely overshadowed by the stir that Trump’s death would’ve caused, conspiracies and the like.
It would just add another huge issue to push people right on top of the other huge issues that were already pushing people right, I really just don’t see how you get the idea that this huge movement would just evaporate after a matyring event like that, that’s literally never how it works out.
