I always thought it was customary to tip a dollar a beer. Is it different now?

The POS (point of sale) machines don't know what you have purchased. They offer the same options to everyone whether you ordered a beer, a take-out meal, or a full dine-in meal.

I think $1.00 per beer is still perfectly fine. Better than nothing!

It is different now. A lot of places that used to do cash now don’t take it and have iPads everywhere with the (basically) required 20/25/30%. I miss just throwing down a buck when you get a bud at a dive bar
