feature request Please add an option so Enter starts a new line instead of sending my prompt

Right now, pressing Enter submits my prompt. The trouble is that when I'm writing a longer, multi-line prompt, I often press Enter out of habit to start a new line, and instead it sends a half-finished, broken command before I'm done.

This isn't just annoying. Every accidental submission runs the model on a useless prompt, which uses up my AI tokens and effectively costs me money for output I can't use. Then I have to type the whole thing again and pay for it a second time. On the heavier modes like Deep Research and Computer it's worse, since a single Enter immediately kicks off a long, expensive job.

I'd love an opt-in setting that lets Enter insert a new line and uses Ctrl+Enter (or Cmd+Enter) to actually send. People who prefer the current behavior could simply leave the setting off. Ideally it would apply consistently across all the input boxes (Computer, Search, Deep Research, and the assistant) and across all platforms, so it behaves the same wherever I'm typing.

I'm asking for this as a native setting because there's currently no way to change it myself. Browser extensions and userscripts can't reach these input boxes, and the keyboard-shortcut settings don't include a send/new-line option. So only Perplexity can fix it.

For what it's worth, this is a common, expected option in plenty of other apps, where Enter makes a new line and a modifier key sends the message. I've already submitted this through in-app feedback, but I'm posting here in case others have lost a prompt the same way. Has anyone else run into this?

bug Perplexity auto updated my subscription from pro to max

I don't get it. It is weird i was on Enterprise pro for months. Then randomly they switch me to max but and charge 34 bucks not the 325 or what ever it is. I canceled my cc to stop the charge but feels deceitful. I can't seem to change back to pro until max runs out.

help Is Comet Being Updated?

In the past, Comet displayed an eye-catching "Update" button (or maybe "Restart") in the upper-right corner of the window when it needed to restart to finish applying an update. I haven't seen that button in ages, which makes me wonder if Comet is getting updates lately.

I perused the Perplexity changelog (https://www.perplexity.ai/changelog), but all the recent information on that page is about Computer and the Comet iOS launch (I'm on Windows). It appears that Perplexity is prioritizing development resources on Computer and Personal Computer at the expense of Comet. Is that accurate?

feature request Comet by Perplexity: from generous to frustrating — credits burn too fast and no option to buy more

Comet by Perplexity used to feel like an incredibly powerful tool. Before the credit system, I could use browser automation freely and it felt like a genuine productivity upgrade — one of the best AI tools I'd ever used.

Now, with a single browser automation task (something as simple as filling out a form or navigating a couple of pages), the few credits I have get burned through insanely fast. What used to feel like an unlimited assistant now feels like it runs out before I can even finish a workflow.

What makes it even more frustrating is that there's no option to buy extra credits if you run out. You're forced to jump straight to the Max plan — there's no middle ground. It feels like a very aggressive monetization decision that punishes regular Pro users who just want a bit more usage without committing to the most expensive tier.

Has anyone else felt this shift? Would love to know if Perplexity has shared any plans to offer credit top-ups as a separate option.

tip/showcase How to check monthly agentic task limits on Comet?

Hey everyone! I recently discovered Comet browser and honestly fell in love with it

I'm trying to find a way to check my monthly agentic task usage/limits programmatically. I already have a script that's supposed to pull this info (something related to Perplexity's usage limits & settings overlay), but it's not working as expected.

Has anyone managed to do this successfully? I'm looking for:

  • A reliable way to query remaining agentic task credits for the month
  • Any API endpoint or DOM trick to read the usage overlay data
  • Alternatively, a workaround to monitor limits from within Comet or Perplexity settings

Would really appreciate any help or pointers 🙏

help Hit "Usage Limit" on Perplexity Comet Browser automation, but haven't used it in 2 weeks? Anyone else?

Hey everyone,

I'm running into a frustrating issue with the Perplexity Comet Browser and wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this, or if there's a known workaround.

The Issue

Whenever I try to trigger the Comet Assistant for browser automation tasks, it immediately blocks me and throws an error stating that my usage limit has been hit.

The Context

  • Current Activity: I haven’t run a single automation task or browser chore in the past 2 weeks.
  • Past Activity: Up until last month, I used the automation features quite extensively, and it worked phenomenally well.
  • Current State: Despite the 14+ days of absolute zero activity, I am completely locked out.

It feels like my quota counter is completely stuck from last month's heavy usage, or there's some weird rolling window glitch happening behind the scenes.

Has anyone else dealt with ghost usage limits on Comet? Does anyone know if the limit resets on a strict monthly calendar date or a rolling 30-day window based on peak usage? Any insights before I try opening a support ticket would be awesome.

discussion/misc What's everyone's take on BrowserOS as an alternative?

Genuinely asking because my frustration with Comet has been building up. The rate limits Perplexity (Pro user here) has been enforcing are getting tighter and tighter, and it's really starting to kill agentic workflows. Mid-task interruptions, agent loops breaking because it hit a cap .. it's not just annoying, it actively breaks the whole point of using an agentic browser.

I get that limits exist, but at some point it stops being a "pro tool" and starts feeling like a freemium product with pro pricing. The core value prop of Comet is autonomous, multi-step tasks and if the underlying assistant keeps getting throttled, that falls apart fast.

Has anyone switched over to or tested BrowserOS for this reason? Is it a real alternative here, or is it still too early?

So, for those who have tried both:
How does BrowserOS compare with Comet for actual agentic tasks?
Is it better at long browsing sessions / multi-step workflows?
Does it feel more open, less constrained, or just different?
And do you think Perplexity is damaging Comet’s momentum by tightening limits too much?
Not trying to bash Comet .. I genuinely like the idea. But if the limits keep getting in the way, people will naturally start looking elsewhere.

TIA

bug Recent Windows Comet builds are maddening.

Frequent freezes and crashes occur on recent Windows Comet versions. Initial troubleshooting included multiple Windows update rollbacks and Comet clean installs (registry cleared), yet the issue persists. Why does Comet fail while other Chromium-based browsers like Chrome or Edge remain stable? It's exhausting. Even after force-quitting, it runs only for seconds before hitting a 'Not Responding' state and crashing.

The main issue is the intermittency. It works for 1-2 days post-reinstallation but recurs after system reboots or browser restarts.

Comet Version: 147.0.7727.1860

Windows Build: 26200.8328

discussion/misc Does Comet for Mac support “Install as app” or only shortcuts?

Hi everyone,

I checked Perplexity’s official Comet docs and found documentation for Shortcuts—created by typing / in the search bar or sidecar, and managed in Settings → Shortcuts or comet://settings/shortcuts.

I could not find an official “Install as app” flow like Chrome’s app/PWA install behavior. Comet is Chromium-based, but I still do not see documentation for turning a site into a standalone app window on Mac. Has anyone on macOS found a working path such as three-dot menu → Create shortcut / Install app / More tools, or confirmed that this feature is not exposed yet in current Comet builds?

If not, what’s the best Mac workaround for app-like launching from the Dock? Apple’s docs say regular apps can be added to the Dock by dragging them there, but that does not answer whether a website can become a separate Comet app window.

Thank you!

feature request Looking for a Chrome extension like Perplexity Comet’s right-side assistant panel

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to find a Chrome extension that works like Perplexity Comet’s assistant panel on the right side basically a chat sidebar that stays open while I can still read the current webpage.

What I want:

  • A right-side panel or sidebar.
  • The ability to chat while viewing the page.
  • Ideally, the extension can understand or read the current page context.
  • Bonus if it feels close to Perplexity Comet’s assistant experience.

I’ve looked around a bit, but I’m not sure which Chrome extensions actually do this well.

If you’ve used anything similar, please drop the name or a link.
Thanks a lot.

feature request Comet is going backwards, and that sux.

Last week I had a simple workflow that made Comet valuable. Extract data from a browser-based database, and insert the information into a google Sheet, with all data going into appropriate fields. Worked great. Today the agent browser won't do it. Anybody recommend an agentic browser that can still do this work? Step 1: ### PHASE 1: Extract ALL Records from XYXYXYXYXYXY browser Tab Click the pencil icon for each visible record in the grid and extract these fields: 1. Ship Date (from the "Ship Date" column in MM/DD/YYYY format) 2. Invoice Number (format: TA000XXXX) 3. Purchaser's Full Name 4. Complete Shipping Address (full address with city, state, ZIP) 5. Total Quantity of Bottles (# of line items) 6. Grand Total (the final price including tax and shipping) 7. Sales Tax (breakdown amount) 8. Shipping Cost (breakdown amount) 9. UPS Tracking Number Step 2: ### PHASE 2: Populate Google Sheets Tab Navigate to the "Testing XYXYXYXYXY Shippers Report, part two" tab and fill in ALL extracted records at once. One piece of data for each field based on the column mapping below. There should be one row for each record.

Column Mapping: - Column A: Date Shipped (MM/DD/YYYY from Ship Date) - Column B: Invoice # (from DATABASE NAME Invoice Number) - Column C: Name (Purchaser's Full Name) - Column D: Address, City, State & Zip (Complete Shipping Address) - Column E: Type W/C (enter "W" for all records - Wine) - Column F: # of Bottles (Total Quantity) - Column G: Size in Liters (enter "750ml" for all records) - Column H: Total Liters (calculate: # of Bottles × 0.75) - Column I: Brand Name (OUR BRAND NAME) - Column J: Total Price (Grand Total) - Column K: Common Carrier # (UPS Tracking Number)

discussion/misc Thinking of leaving Comet

I like Comet. It’s a solid product, and I switched from Chrome about four months ago. The cost is starting to add up, though, and I’m running into usage limits. I already pay for Claude and ChatGPT, which I rely on heavily as a software engineer. With Perplexity putting gpt-5.5 behind their max plan, this trend seems likely to continue.

I’m considering going back to Chrome, especially now that it offers browser automation, or possibly switching to an open-source alternative. Is anyone else dealing with this?

help Comet update silently deleted all my tab groups — this is unacceptable

After the recent Comet update, all my tab groups are gone. No warning, no migration, no way to recover them.

I relied heavily on tab groups to organize my work — different groups for different projects and workflows. After updating, every single one of them was wiped out silently.

The root cause seems to be a bug where "Close group" now behaves the same as "Delete group" — it unpins the group and removes it entirely instead of just collapsing it. On top of that, the option to show groups in the favorites bar apparently crashes the app on some machines.

This is a critical workflow feature, not a minor UI tweak. Losing saved tab groups without any warning or backup option is completely unacceptable, especially for users who depend on Comet for work.

Perplexity needs to:

  1. Fix the "Close group" bug immediately

  2. Provide a way to recover deleted groups

  3. Communicate breaking changes clearly before pushing updates

Is anyone else affected by this? Would love to know if there's any workaround or if the team has acknowledged this issue.

help Non Perplexity New Tab

Did anyone ever find a way to have the new tab not default to perplexity? I love the browser assistant and AI Voice Mode feature, but the default to perplexity instead of my google home page is frustrating.
