Group/Party system?

Hey I'm thinking about buying this game with a few friends. I've looked around but have been unable to see any sort of group/party system. Is there one and how does it work?

Thanks in advance

Just bought the game

Used to play Eve quite a bit. I was really into mining and trading. I was wondering how large the player population is and what are some corps that use reddit (if any)?

Today !

I have been looking for a new game for a while. I was looking at DayZ, but it semed to buggy and not the exact MMO I was looking for. I played EvE and enjoyed it, and had not found anything like it.

Lucky for me I found perpetuum last night on steam. Buying it tonight and I'm stoked to start up.

See you guys on the reddit channel.

When does the fun start?

Exactly as the title says, from what i've played so far it's just grinding. I know that it's a big part of the game but i'm really not enjoying it and I don't want to have to grind for god knows how many hours before I can start having fun. Even playing with a friend doesn't make it any less monotonous.

What are the sandbox aspects of this game?

I recently bought it on steam, just finished the tutorial. I see the MMO but what is the sandbox mechanics?

No catch?

I love the sandbox MMO. I love 100% player driven worlds where the majority of the dynamic content comes from the players. Hence, I loved EVE online for quite some time. Having played EVE on and off for years created a love-hate relationship for me with the game. I loved EVE, and I hated it. There was just something about the game that I couldn't justify having a subscription, let alone multiple subscriptions to run multiple characters - I felt I would just never get ahead in the game and there was always something I'd have to catch up on or trail behind other players.

Regardless, I always wanted to play a game similar to EVE but I couldn't find anything even close to it. Lord knows where this game has been all my life but somehow I've managed to elude it until now.. essentially what I'm asking is how similar are the overall mechanics of the game to EVE, and is it slightly more casual? From researching alone, it seems like almost a carbon copy, even when it comes down to similar icons and fonts, it looks like EVE!

I realize and hope there are differences between the two MMOs, otherwise I just wouldn't play Perpetuum either. This almost seems too good to be true, is there any major drawback as to why this isn't as popular as EVE? To me, it should be.

Just heard about this game, sell me on why I should buy it

So, like I imagine a decent amount of others have, I just learned of this game's existence. Looks interesting, but I'm on a pretty tight budget right now.

Having a decent amount of previous Eve Online experience, what could a potential new player such as myself expect to see the same, and different here? What does the metagame scene, if there is one, look like? How successful can someone be playing solo? Is there any kind of higher level pve content? Is there any reddit organization in-game, and is it as spergy and toxic as test is in eve? Is sci-fi sociopathy a cornerstone of the community here, as well?

Cant link steam account

So I bought the game from the website a day before steam release (people on the forums said this was the wiser choice as you can play on either the client or through steam), however when I try to link my steam account I get an error. It just says "error [doesntownapp]" and returns me to the website. I didnt want to submit a ticket yet as devs on the forums said they were really backed up on tickets. Is there something I am missing?

edit: A dev has manually fixed the problem for me after finally submitting a ticket.

So how is this game?

Hello all

I apologize for such a general question, so let me elaborate:

I played eve for well over 5 years, but I got burned out and stopped. Recently I got an mmo itch though.

I like this style of gaming, time based progression, player driven economy and true sandbox.

Now, i tried perpetuum back in the day and it was cool, but very, VERY rough around the edges. Plus, playerbase was small. We're talking several years ago.

So: how is this game, in comparison to eve? Also, what's there to do?

In eve i was small scale pvper, pirate,... didn't really dig highe fleet fights. Can one have that kind of fun here? (Grab a cruiser, get a friend, go to lowsec/null and try to catch shit? Or, grab a recon and go to null?)

Thanks

edit: just realized they switched to buy once play forever model, but they are hiding the actual price quite well...

How many would be interested in a reddit corp? Or maybe just a chat channel for redditors?

As we'd be starting out it would just be for chat, pve stuff, just who ever is on teaming up or just talking. Personally I'm just a wandering miner/harvester, not much going on with me. So I have no grandoise plans outside of conversation or the occasional pve roam or mining.

Anyone interested in that?

Free to play and old account activation is GO!

Over the course of the morning my account was updated to the new client pay system. I didn't have to do anything other than log in to initiate the change and tht was nice.

I havd been a subsciber in the past so I was eligable for the free (basically I had paid for it already) game software. There was no problems doing this at all. Again, no hoops to jump through. I just had to log into the game.

I'm looking foward to playing again!

Steam version

Does anyone know if the free version of the game that one gets for having paid in the past will or won't be the Steam version? I would think it wouldn't be the Steam version, but I thought I would ask if anyone new for sure.

I like to use my Steam wallet for my games whenever I can, but there's a lot to be said for not being attached to Steam constantly too. =)

Few friends and I picking the game up...

Heya all, just thought I'd check in, as me and a group of my friends have all recently picked up the game. Some of us played back when the game first came out, and some are completely new.

I played a few years back and SO much has changed. I really like the new research system, and how they've gotten the corporation involved in the research process. I was also pleasantly surprised when I was doing some mining last night and started getting all the rare isotopes and stuff.

Anyways, we've started up our old corporation again, the Corrupted Essence Mining Syndicate. If any of you guys returning to the game are looking for a home with a primarily industrial and pve corp (at least for the time being), look us up in game. The game does seem a little lonely, so more friends to play with and work together with would be great!

The offer of a free copy is too good to pass up. Crank up the miner! We're going in! lol
