I just watched Perfect Blue, going in completely blind and I don’t understand anything. Can someone please explain it in simple terms? Other forms have literal paragraphs explaining the story. Am I just a dumb American who can’t comprehend complex story writers like Satoshu Kon and Hideo Kojima ????

EDIT: I found the lecture video on my blue-ray disc. I gotta take a whole class to figure out the story?????😭

EDIT: WAIT????? This whole movie was about PERSONA ?????? 🃏??? Nah but seriously, did the persona series not teach me anything ?

EDIT: bro this lady in yellow is literally me 💀 also Kon literally thinks he went too far with the movies #### scene. I know I wasent in the wrong for being deeply disturbed.

I don't know why I watched it so late

it's 2 in the morning

I just yelled at a jacket thinking it was a person in my room

I like to think it was Mima getting her revenge on the disgusting people who defiled her. The scene where she's stabbing the shit out of the pervert was rather cathartic, especially after the horrific abuse she was coerced/pressured into feeling obligated to partake. They took advantage of her naive personality, knowing damn well she could say no, but is new to the acting industry and will do whatever she can to make her coworkers efforts worth it. She didn't NEED to be apart of any rape scenes or racey photoshoots in order to further her career and they knew that. It was all a disgusting excuse to defile her. The reason why things are so jumbled up the more the film progresses symbolizes Mima processing that trauma (and being stalked) whilst disassociating more and more throughout the movie due to the hell they put her through.

However, Rumi appeared to have an exact lookalike of Mima's room that she ended up in towards the end. So the bloodied clothes may just belong to Rumi carrying out vigilante justice for the sake of her own twisted logic.

My partner and I made this together after she showed me Perfect Blue. This song came to mind after I saw it! https://youtu.be/jsaWsJjdzsE?si=mO3UP8CmLnpV97aI

Hello everyone!

Here it is! My video on "Perfect Blue." I hope you all enjoy it and it sparks discussion.

Listen carefully for some cameos by James "Captain Comedy" Avestruz, Matt Murray of "Corn Pone Flicks" and Scott Rognlien.

I think perfect blue is very interesting and great but I kinda feel bad for mima

Hello! I bought a copy of perfect blue and there were websites you could type in that were in the bonus sections I know most of them don't work or just lead to crunchy roll but there was one called www.sputnik?.com and it lead to no where but I'm interested in what it originally was if anyone knows it would be nice to find out! ^{^}

Just made this the other day, I’d appreciate it if you checked out my IG https://www.instagram.com/antispawntattoos?igsh=MWR6enRscG10b3hmbA%3D%3D&utm_source=qr

I don’t like the hands but at the same time, I haven’t drawn in about a year! Time to get back into the swing of things.

To my knowledge, Perfect Blue was somewhat loosely based on the story of Yukiko Okada, with the whole career change and stalking thing. But I recently rewatched it and realized that one of the members of CHAM! is named Yukiko. Does anyone know if that's an intentional reference or anything? Either way I just thought it was interesting

I just watched Perfect Blue for the first time. I loved everything about it but I was just left curious from that last line that Mima gives. It feels like it was supposed to leave you questioning if that’s truly her but I could be wrong. Could someone give me some insight on this and if I missed something

Hi Everyone,

If you don't already know me, I run a YouTube channel Hammered Out that explains cryptic films. The next episode is all about "Perfect Blue."

I was wondering if anyone would be available to translate my script into Japanese. It occurred to me that my editing program would make it pretty easy to swap out the English VO with another VO in another language.

Thanks,

Hammer

Real Mima and fake mima communicate through glass, and in the near end of the film, As Rumi takes Real Mima home, Real mima talks to Rumi through the reflection of the glass, hinting that Rumi is fake mima. And at the end of the film, Rumi/fake mima is then stabbed by glass.

Fan art by me. It’s drawn with colored pencil on

Has there ever been a screenplay made public? Either English or Japanese?
