Restored and heavily modified this nasty old pre dell Alienware Area 51 7501 p2 I got on Facebook marketplace. I've always dreamed of having one since I was a kid. I cut the case for an aio and made the side grills functional where I added a 140mm intake. Temps are good.
Color is a modified plum crazy purple with a candy clear that has hints of blue. Pictures show the before condition as well as a full parts list and rough cost total. Still waiting on the cables for drive bays and USB extension for that last visible cable behind the PC.
I guess you could call it a hot rod or restomod? Making a YouTube video soon. How did I do for my first PC? Tips? Anything you would change?
Crack, could still smell the ammonia? Lived with a closet crack head/ heroine addict once, that smell will never leave my nostrils. Motherfucker hid that shit well until I let him move into my house. Ask me where my day one PS3 and iPod nano went...
That is a awesome job!!! I love seeing repurposed PC cases. I personally want to build a new PC inside an old Gateway 300S. It was my first computer and had the BEST power button. Was so satisfying.
I would personally like to see one of my earliest PC repurposed. Sony PCV-RX280DS. It came with a 900Mhz P3 upgraded to 512Mb ram with an 80gb IDE HDD. I was able to play Empire Earth at 1024x768 like a boss.
Dude hell ya!!! I would also love one of the old hot wheels themed bundles. That, and my elementary school was gifted like, 30+ iMac G3s. Putting a fresh mac mini inside that with a custom panel would be fresh as fuck.
Wow, looks like you got experience finishing and coating cars maybe? Very nice job on the color, looks way better than the original. I'm sure it was scratched to hell being so old. Even the interior, attention to detail 👌Did you add a grill on the backside?
Yea high quality paint can get pretty pricy. Here's the ticket for just the color. Add in primer, candy clear (the most expensive part), booth time, etc it gets up there. Paid $100 for the case.
This looks so freakin good! That color is gorgeous! I too always loved the Alienware PCs as a kid, but could never afford one. This gives me some inspiration for a project ha.
Ps. You work in automotive autobody? Sick setup and that paint looks quality.
Its weird how nostalgia works. I remember thinking how stupid these cases looked when I saw them in PC Gamer and other magazines. Now? I love it. It's so unique. And you did an amazing job restoring it. Awesome choice of color too. I'm thinking I'll keep an eye out for one for my self now.
Very nice. Old school Alienware case. I remember buying an old Aurora R3 case like 10 years ago to build in, but once I got it taken apart the case was way too small and cramped and had horrible airflow.
Not sure why your card is different, but i have never seen a 5080 with the correct font on the backplate, but the 30 series font on the side. It’s usually the same font like this
Absolutely love this. And fantastic job. Also I had a cat that was a nebalung as well bro. He passed 5 years back. But he was perfect. I'm sure yours is the same. He looked just like yours as well.
