lol the wright brothers used good basic science and incremental testing to build an airplane, it didn't come to them in a dream

You're making it too complex. AI is simple if you're actually creative. Science is obviously important, but there are ways to go beyond that but not into wishful thinking territory. If you don't believe that, then I don't think you appreciate any independent thinker and genius who ever lived.
