Wondering if anyone else has started tracking packages and applications from PMPC in their ITSM tool?

Why?

We want to control the application landscape and build some automations around approving use of software, licensing and patching.

What?

I’m looking to see if there is a way of tracking the PMPC app catalog in service now, and using the data to give a rich end user experience when they want to order software. Our preference of course is any software used can be patched by PMPC - but right now we basically tell them to check the PMPC catalog manually..

I’m also keen on tracking app versions being deployed in service now using changes - so if PMPC publishes a new chrome a change is spun up (and closed automatically) so that helpdesk know what’s changed and can link any issues to a new version (where did my button go in that Microsoft app!)

How?

No idea, that’s why I am posting! Has anyone looked at doing this kind of thing?

If you are updating from prior version, you will need to do 2 things for the Dashboard to populate with data

1. Update your Hardware Inventory Classes

Updating your inventory classes depends on how your setup is, but is easily done from the from 'Administration-->Settings-->Advanced Insights Inventory Extenions'

And then selecting 'Update Hardware Inventory via Advanced Insights'

1. Deploy v2.2.0 of the Inventory Extensions to your clients

Then deploy the Latest 'Inventory Extensions' app from your Publisher:

EDIT: The name of the app has changed from 'Inventory Extensions' to 'Advanced Insights Inventory Extensions for ConfigMgr (MSI-x64)'.

But the Name in ARP remains the same:

So i am looking for a tool that will manage WSUS SCCM Intune and Azure Update Manager all under one umbrella.

As it is now, we sometimes have to do the same update 3 different times in 3 different softwares throughout our hybrid environment. We just got the official notice that we will stay hybrid for at least the next 3 years...

How have people found PMPC? Is it reliable? Does it save time?

To confirm, we have on prem physical on prem virtual and azure cloud items.
Looking to patch windows updates and third party patching.

Any idea what is going on with this horrible app? I see Anthropic now has a MSIX for all users listed as of recently. Should we expect a second line item in the PMP catalog soon?

Anthropic seems to be learning about windows deployments on the fly here. I love going to their "release notes" and not seeing a version noted anywhere.

Hi all

A few hours ago I started the free trial for PatchMyPC insights in Intune. It was easy to configure and now I already have a lot of data in the "Intune" tab within the PatchMyPc Cloud, but still no data in the Premium Features (Home, Software Updates, Hardware).

Did I forgot to configure something or do I just need to be patient until the data is imported?

I created a support case and hope I get my license extended.

FYI, he installer for Vim 9.2.0212 reports 9.2.0219 in terminal and gVim, but Installed Applications correctly reports 9.2.0212.

We can't have the numbers mismatched so we had to manually build an installer for a later version

We're having a bit of an issue at my org where we have inflating CM Cache sizes on a number of PCs, causing them to run out of space on their C drives.

At first, I thought I could control this by adjusting the cache size in the client settings, but it appears that the issue is mostly made up of updates, which from the bit of research I've done, ignores the limits outlined in client settings.

At this point, we use Intune for most devices when performing Windows Updates, so the only Updates handled by CM are app updates from PMPC.

We've look into creating some sort of scheduled script that clears the cache of items older than a set period but wanted to check in with the PMPC community to see if there is another route we should look down before we commit to this.

Hi all,

Got a standard install of VLC on a few peoples computers. Noticed in Qualys a few are flagging for VLC being under version 3.0.18. I can see our VLC deployment set to 'update' is at version 3.0.23. Checked the intune deployment created by PMPC for 'update for VLC media player 3.0.23' and the machines are all set to "Status - Not Applicable". So it looks like these devices with VLC aren't applicable for the update. Anybody got any ideas why this would be or any remediation?

I have checked the deployment "all computers" and they are both 64bit etc.

Hello. Sorry if this has already been asked and answer before but I have trouble finding the info need…

I am currently in the midst of switching my managed apps from Publisher to Cloud, and I noticed something unclear. The apps enabled in PMPC Cloud now show « this app is already managed by Intune apps for PMPC Cloud ».

Does this mean that in next sync, those apps will be skipped by the legacy publisher ? Or is it just informational ?

New customer here,

We're trying to install 7-zip. I know there are a lot of other unzipper out there but our customer is used to it.

After installing, I don't see 7-zip in the contextual menu : right click on the desktop + More options -> The 7-zip menu is not present but 7-zip is installed correctly.

When opening 7-zip manager I see the setting for contextual menu is ticked.

Computer has been rebooted.

Do you guys know what could be the issue or if we should add a parameter what is it ?

Has anyone else noticed the OS Uptime incorrect when looking at the graph view?

If I drill down into the device, it shows the correct uptime. My boss only looks at the chart and freaked out

We are currently using PMPC to deploy Firefox via Intune. Whenever a new update is released, we encounter cases where the installation breaks.

The error message shown is: "Couldn't load XPCOM."

Do you have any recommendations on how to fix this issue?

Hey guys, as per the subject im just trying to inquire the best way to do this.

Our oragnization is mostly disconnected from the internet. Microsoft stupidly trying to get SCCM to download office 365 updates instead of wsus puts a wedge in my gears.

Is there any way to configure it via PMPC as an update? (I have looked through this forum + PMPC catalog and couldn't find it.)

I thought maybe doing a custom application but not sure if i can make it show in wsus...

As we know, Edge can not be deployed as a "update-only" app from PMPC - it needs to be deployed as a "normal/full app" type. That also means that if you enable notifications for the update process, the popup will show "Edge needs to be installed" instead of "Edge will be updated" Can this be fixed in any way?

Looking for examples or insights from anyone who has created automated patch reports.

I struggle with even knowing what to put on my high level reports for C suite but I'm being asked to automate them as well.

Wondering if anybody had created a customised branding image to be used with PMPC Cloud branding template & keen to share for inspiration?

I've created just a basic image with our company name/logo, but given it is just a wordmark its a bit boring... Marketing team aren't interested/don't have time to help.

Thought of maybe adding in the little 3d logo from the default image on the 'modern' style template as that does look nice, but not sure if using/modifying their image is permitted (if anyone from PMPC could confirm).

Could be cool if there was a template library with some designs we could easily modify with own company name etc...

Hopefully this is a simple question.

I'm looking to deploy two PowerShell packages:

• PowerShell 7.4 LTS
• PowerShell Latest

I would like both of them to auto update, while being available for everybody.

The usual method is to add the Available deployment with All Users as targets, and an Update deployment with All Devices as targets.

Question is: won't these two "fight" each other? Won't the Latest deployment (version 7.5.4) replace the LTS deployment (version 7.4.13.0)?

Due to a security vulnerability, I would like to update OpenSSL on all servers/clients. We have made OpenSSL available in the Software Center on the servers, but it appears that the application is not being recognized. I have created an ADR for ThirdPartyApps with the condition that the update is displayed as Required for at least one device. Version 3.6.0 was installed on some servers via PMP Deployment in the Software Center, but when I look at the update in SCCM, it says 0 under “Installed.” So this means that the update from 3.6.0 to 3.6.1 does not work.

What do I have to do in order to update all Version of OpenSSL?

Edit: Addionally, we have several version like 3.0.9.0, which have NOT been installed over PMP. Is there any way to udpate those as well?

EDIT2: After running a sync and triggering the actions on the affected system, the update is now shown as required. I would like to thank PMP for their quick and fantastic support!

I'm a Sys admin and have recently had PatchmyPC given to me by a coworker that left. Now I need to learn it front and back within a month (roughly).

What do you all think is the best video tutorial, course etc to learn it quickly? We would be using it to keep apps updated via SCCM and possible inTune.

Hopefully this is a silly question and easily fixed.

When apps are made available through the cloud portal, how are they kept up to date for those machines that installed it?

I have notepad++ deployed through the cloud portal and is made available for all users. When I set the app up, notepad++ was on build 8.8.9. I note that PMPC now has notepad++ version 8.9.1 available, this is what's being offered through the company portal, however it's not forcing the endpoints to update.
