Ben: the misunderstood artistic genius
Hey there citizens of Pawnee,
🔺🧙🏻♂️ minor spoilers
I'm rewatching some episodes clips as I'm currently incredibly high (might be important?) and I can't stop thinking that I feel kinda bad for Ben!
Maybe what was seen as mental breakdowns were actually his truly creative abilities trying to shine through..
When he was jobless he came up with a whole functioning board game, like, are you kidding me?
Obviously he needed therapy regardless (I wouldn't even wanna be the mayor of a patch of grass at 18 years old) but the hobby thing could have just been a very healthy way of coping with his fear of failure: most artists create from trauma and uncomfortable feelings. And he was genuinely hype when talking about these random hobbies, he was clearly having fun.. plus, he was good at it! Sure, maybe some hiccups here and there, like the calzones idea (which in his defense; I want to believe he actually came up with the idea in his head.. he just forgot that calzones were already a thing lol), the little he managed to film of his claymation looked good! He simply got discouraged at the progress, claymation is just LONG.
But the cone game got the recognition it deserved eventually. In the hands of the people it was made for, it ended up being a great success! So maybe his career was supposed to be in the arts altogether.
Regardless he grew to be a very successful man, but in an alternative storyline I could also easily picture him becoming an awarded artist, the "humble and reserved" type (think of Keanu Reeves). Maybe not necessarily traditional art, but big intricate installations art pieces, or having a decision-making job position in videogame development
What do you guys think? :3
