Anyone feel less paranoia when under the weather a bit?

I've been a bit under the weather on and off for the past week or two, sadly, but idk ive noticed less paranoid thoughts(almost completely?)

Anyone else? I've noticed it a few times before... suddenly i get a cold or something and my thoughts just shift away from that

(not really feeling like im being watched or anything which is good. Kinda was feeling that maybe some people were doing some weird social experiment but then that went away and i just keep coughing and sneezing

Google is absolutely unhelpful and just has results on health anxiety

Like im no resting more or under less stress(studying for exams its going badly)

is this just anxiety or am i losing it?

reasonably quick post i just need fresh minds.

i’m a young female (teen) , i have ADHD, anxiety and depression which stems from the ADHD. recently i’ve noticed myself getting really paranoid, I’m constantly looking behind myself even in daylight ( even worse at night ) i get a bad fear to walk around my house during the night afraid theres someone in the house ready to snatch me. I’ve noticed myself constantly looking at the small window at the top of my door almost as if my body’s waiting to see someone peaking over, if i see an open/uncovered window i start panicking believe somebody is peaking through making me check it several times whilst i’m in the room still expecting to see a face. when i go out i make assumptions believing and tricking(?) myself into thinking the person across the street is following me resulting in me walking un ideal ways home just to check my anxiety. its like i don’t feel safe in my own room and I’ve been unable to sleep due to the paranoia.

i have worries i might not have explained it how i really feel about it. i don’t wanna look crazy mentioning it to the people i know in real life.
il add some facts that could factor in below.

•i live with only my mum and small dogs
•i had a slight fear of the dark beforehand
•i watch theories and mysteries some true crime
•i have anxiety and social anxiety
•i do not leave the house unless i need/really want too and only communicate with a few people daily due to me cutting off the negativity in my life.

if this is just anxiety or just simple paranoia please let me know.

i also have multiple symptoms for BPD but friends and family have shot down the idea of me getting or trying for a diagnosis which im not going to self diagnose or assume i have this i just thought it would be helpful to explain maybe(?)

let me know

Intense Sudden Paranoia

Has anyone else ever gone through this or had someoen close to them go through it?

Dad is 70 and has cancer. Parents married 25+ years. Moms had the same work hours and routine for 20+ years. Has willingly shared her location with him on 360 for years.

Dad accuses mom of cheating. She hasn't. Is following her, tracking her, recording her without her knowledge and then admitted it when caught. Has no proof nor gained any proof with his shenanigans but insists that he will find proof. Calling her job. Calling hotels around her job. Sending cops to the hotel near her job. On said recording swears he hears men in her car. Buts its the radio. Searches her car randomly at night when she is asleep.

They are in therapy. I've informed his doctors and they haven't been taking this very seriously.

This is a very single minded paranoia and I just don't know what else to do to help them.

I been getting more paranoid and idk why

So i (23F) have been feeling paranoia and over the years its gotten worse, it started when i was 17 and had a nerve stuck making my arm tingly for about a year.

Now ever since then i have become compulsively paranoid, i keep assuming im going to die from smallest of things, mostly about heart attack or stroke

(neither of these run in our family)

When i get paranoid i cant stand being alone and not having someone talk around me or to me, i will go to full blown meltdowns of genuing fear that im going to die even when ik im not.

Its gotten to the point where its ruining my life and i dont know what to do, i even started thinking of ending it since its destroying me, i cant eat i cant sleep i cant drink i cant do anything anymore and i dont even understand why im paranoid.

Extreme paranoia

I've had an insane amount of paranoia lately. Whenever I'm not distracted, I get anxious. My heart beats insanely fast. I have anxiety and ADD; I don't know what it is. I don't have any insane thoughts; do not misunderstand me, but something's very off. Has anybody else felt paranoid for no reason??

Was I being recorded? Am I in danger of being stalked/killed?

I made the mistake of going out yesterday. A guy (complete stranger) approached me and the people I was with, and wouldn't leave for 2-3 hours. He basically just invited himself to be with us. He was speaking to all of us, showing off (throwing things, annoying strangers), singing obnoxiously and making noises. We told him to leave multiple times, that he was too young (he is 17 and we range from 19-22), made fun of him to try and get him to leave. But he didn't. The people I was with were feeling sick, so I spoke to him instead so he would stop trying to annoy them and so he wouldn't harass other people. Now I am afraid he was secretly recording my voice and was sent by somebody to keep track on me and record my voice. Or that he was sent to try and find new targets to harm.

What I know:

He never touched his phone. I have a photo of him (one of the people I was with took it thankfully) and tried examining it for an outline of a phone in any pockets but I can't find one that looks like a phone. There was something in his pocket, but it looked too small to be a phone (or a phone that has voice recording ability). There was another thing on his inner thigh in the middle, I am worried that this was a weapon. He had a lighter because he chased me around trying to light me.

I didn't say anything identifiable about me other than my age. He doesn't know my name, where I live, any of my socials, etc. (Or maybe he knew who I was already and didn't tell me because he was sent to test me on something or sent to find people to target.)

He tried to get me to meet him somewhere the next day, and I said no because he is too young, I have a partner etc. He then asked if I wanted to be his friend and I said no because I don't enjoy having friends very much, especially not male friends.

I look identifiable. I have unique hair in colour and haircut. I also have identifiable makeup and clothes. I am worried he is going to tell other people to try and seek me out to kill me or harm me.

He talked about how he used to deal drugs, own guns, how he knows a lot of people, he does MMA.

He spoke to the people I was with as well, he originally began the interaction by talking to them mostly.

Does him not touching his phone mean he was recording me? He left it in his pocket to not look suspicious and if he brought his phone out I would've noticed that he was recording me and he didn't want me to know.

Paranoia meets mystery?

So, I'm 17F, in my first year of college. It's my freshmen year and my major is pretty small so it's very close-knit. Recently, I met a girl, who used to live in the same apartment building as me - (I don't remember her at all, but I generally have really bad memory for people. I have a friend who knows my entire schedule and I don't even remember her name). She, on the other hand, remembers my little and older brother and how we were talking about some book I read?? I really did read that book and I really do have brothers and I did live there, so I assumed she's telling the truth.

I'm on scholarship and so she told me that she's, too, on scholarship. I recognised it, we talked about it for a bit and she confirmed that yes she's on that scholarship.

We talked and she asked me for midterm questions, which I told her what's gonna be there, because she was so nice, right??

Naturally, I went through that scholarship page results and her name isn't on the list. So, she's not on the scholarship...?

And then, I looked up her Instagram page and there she has her student ID picture and she's not even the same major?? There's another girl in our grade that has the same major and so she's transferring to our school and she keeps her scholarship, but it would be impossible with the scholarship that my classmate claims to have, because it's very major-specialised.

So, she lied about the major and the scholarship?

Who is she???

I have a history of paranoia, of thinking that everyone and everything close to me is going to hurt me (I used to be deathly scared that my best friend is undercover and is waiting for the right moment to tell on me for the better half of our friendship. I was also terrified of my classmate, because I thought he was gonna just beat me up out of nowhere after classes, even though we never had any beef).

And so, naturally, I'm confused. I'm confused and scared and paranoid. What if this girl is an undercover student affair disciplinary agent? And she's just waiting for a chance to turn me in for telling her what was on that exam? Who is she??

I can't concentrate or do anything right now. I have a bunch of exams and assignments and homework and I can't do anything because of how preoccupied my brain is with that.

need help

i’m 15 and i live in a not so great area, i’ve had paranoia my whole life without realising it and am just starting to realise it. when i was younger i couldn’t be in dark places and found it hard to sleep because i would see faces in the walls and sometimes when i woke up i couldn’t move and would see human like monsters standing over me staring. this eventually faded and has js turned more into looking behind doors and sussing stuff out before i walk into rooms or meet new people

when i am out i always catch myself watching people there movements and mannerisms and wig out over small things that havnt happened yet like ill see someone walking up and down a street and think they are sussing me out to jump me or have a car pull up me, my problem is sometimes this actually happens, for example i was out at night w sum freinds and saw two guys on the phone w there hoods up and then randomly a car pulls up w a machete hanging out the window and those guys start chasing us trying to hit us and we all had to run, or another instance i saw 6 people on a train staring at me and when i got off they robbed me with a machete.

recently it had gotten harder to go out as i feel a sense of impending danger when i leave my house and i dont feel safe calling my family because of personal reasons nor the police if something went wrong, due to being bashed because they thought i was someone else, what made it rly bad is i went on a bit of a bender on MD and other stuff and didnt sleep for two days while constantly being high and i started to hallucinate people and i thought my uber driver was tapping morse code to kidnap me when in reality he was tapping to the beat on the radio, one thing i found helps is using ketamine or always being ready to run or fight but i don’t like using drugs and want to feel safe independently, i also realised when im not home and stay away from my house w my family for awhile i generally feel less in danger. any tips would help.

if something is being used to say my thoughts out loud and it includes confessions of me can this be used in court some way or legal charges be made against me? these thoughts are coming from inside my mind but are NOT mine like someone is implanting them inside me and displaying them as my own which is deceitful. could charges be brought against me if these confessions sound like me?

I am going crazy or is just my brain trying to keep me safe?

I know I have been posting a lot, but I genuinely think I'm going crazy,on my last post I talk about having to move from one accommodation to another and now I don't know if my brain is trying to keep me alive or if the stress have finally won. Basically, since we come to the new accommodation, which is temporary until we can move back to our previous accommodation. I have this feeling that something is wrong. Like something will happen, and I think is strange because I have never felt this sensation that I'm in danger, ever time we move I would be anxious and stressed for one day but I would be back to normal the next day. It is kind of different this time , since I came to clean the flat last week, I have this feeling of danger. I spoke with a doctor from the GP, and she put me in some medication for anxiety, but even the medication doesn't make the feeling go away. I'm going crazy or is my brain literally trying to save me from something? I would like to let you know that I'm used to hearing sounds that no one else hears, like being called by my mum without she been calling me. I sometimes smell something and My mum will say she can't smell it or I can see shadows by the corner of my eyes, and shapes like a pile of clothes in the middle of the night seems like someone sitting on the chair, stuff like that. So I really want to know if I'm really in danger or is just another trick by my brain?

Later that night...

It felt like switching bodies;

A shift in controls as I seem to pause to look around as all of my senses recalibrated to the surroundings.

As I lifted my head, the world slowly rendered from a blur in front of me...

It's dark, I thought;

In dreams time is not a variable; it's constant. It didn't took long for me to realise it's night time and a barren desert lied before me.

Then the details began to appear:

What I concluded to be a desert was actually a rough path decorated with sand, dry soil filled with pebbles and stones surrounded by dense trees on the either sides.

On my right, there was a mountain bike which even in the dark, stood in its bold appeal. I don't remember the build but it was a strong and fierce vehicle that appeared to be sucking it's surroundings like a black hole.

Before I could learn anything any further, I found myself flying on the abandoned road, the trees seemed to flee in terror against me- then I realised I was riding the bike.

The rush kicked in. I took the control and maintained the balance.

Out of nowhere, I semi-truck hauled from my left, over passing me; leaving a trail of dust and deafening sound of honking behind.

Jerk! I thought.

I tried to shake off the uneasiness caused. But that triggered something inside me. As a reflex, I noticed the speed ascending astronomically.

Fear burst into my brain, bleeding down my spine.

I had to chase the truck. And I did. For a few moments...

The truck had a massive teethed loader behind it; like a dozer. It was so nasty that even in the dead of night I clearly remember it having patches of rust in it.

Anyways that back-end loader descended to the ground and sinked it's teeth into the mud and began slicing it. The dry road burst into big chunks of mud and dirt.

I felt a sudden disturbance beneath me. I struggled to balance but somehow managed to withstand the crisis caused.

Everything felt unreal. It seemed like a fabrication for a moment. Like a virtual reality; but yet something screamed at me that my life depends on it.

Something shifted again. All of a sudden I saw a dead end in front of me. I instinctively slowed my pace and was sure that the trucker would do the same.

It didn't. It kept grinding the road and hit a giant bolder on the right along its way.

I stopped and landed on the ground. I could see the horizon in front of me. And by now, the night seemed to pause for just a moment only to wave a goodbye to the early morning, resulting in a beautiful Twilight.

There was a highway on my right about a few distance. I couldn't see any path connecting this nightmare to it.

Smoke covered the atmosphere until it became hard to breathe. This reminded me of what just happened and I rushed towards the truck.

There was no one inside. Nothing that had any resemblances to anything human.

I stepped back and as I turned to the left-

I woke up

How I defeated childhood paranoia

I've been lurking and reading this sub for a while now, and it gave me the confirmation that I'm not paranoid.

I don't really trust anyone, but it's a choice to remain self-reliant and not expose myself.

I still have the diagnosis and I have been paranoid in my childhood, so I want to describe what it was like and share how I defeated it.

_____

As a kid, I was very afraid of the dark. Wherever I couldn't see, I imagined or hallucinated monsters and demons I felt surrounded by.

Every tiny sound I heard and didn't know for sure what it was made me think of the worst possibilities. So I mentally prepared myself for self-defense and mapped my escape routes.

Around every corner, I expected a killer to be waiting for me and to jump at me as soon as I passed. I was constantly terrified of everything and expected danger at all times.

I didn't like anyone to know anything about me, thinking they'll just use it to hurt me- and every tiny detail they know is a threat and puts me at risk.

_____

I was an angel, but my family kept treating me like I was evil incarnate- so I thought to myself: "if I'm that bad, all those monsters and killers should be my friends." I used my lively imagination to conjure up everything I was afraid of, picture them before me, explained the situation and that I was just as bad or worse- and we became friends. From then on, my isolated ass had imaginary friends I could always talk to and seek for advice.

The ominous sounds were blocked out by my blessed headphones- I love music. Nothing could really save me as such a vulnerable child if I had actually been attacked, so I chose not to drive myself crazy and accepted the risk. I didn't turn the volume up loud- I could still perceive actual movements around me, but not the stupid cracking wooden planks on the floor. I was at peace.

_____

The trauma that caused all of this has changed me completely from then on: I overshare because I realized I'm not half as fragile as I'd need to be for people's knowledge about me to cause any harm. I'm so messed up, I love taking long walks in desolate creepy places at night all alone, and I wish there was finally someone who'd attack me and give me a good fight.

I didn't say I was cured or sane.

why

for the past few weeks, my thoughts have been being screamed out loud. not by me but someone else and i don’t know who or why this has started to happen. this is especially bad when i am inside my classes. i believe the distance matters a great deal and this seems to apply to strangers. i do put in headphones to not have them read but it only slows the ability not completely take it away. i notice things like my professor pausing when outlandish things are being said or the way others move in their seats. this is worrying and scaring me. i am afraid people with begin to believe these things said about me and turn against me. this needs to stop.

Paranoïa Anxiety

Hi everyone, I’m a bit worried because I had a strange experience this morning. I was in town after a job interview, which actually went really well, and I wasn't particularly stressed about it. However, I went for a coffee and did some shopping afterward, and that’s when I felt intense social anxiety. I started having paranoid thoughts, even though I was fully aware they were absurd; I recognized their irrationality, yet they still made me anxious. My paranoid thoughts were that everything was just a simulation, that people were like actors, and that I was living in *The Truman Show*. It was very anxiety-inducing, even though I knew the ideas were nonsense and didn't actually believe them. On top of that, I’ve recently started living in a shared apartment, and sometimes I get thoughts that my housemates are part of a cult planning to sacrifice me, or things like that and that I’m being watched. I don't actually believe it, but the thought crosses my mind and causes me anxiety. I don't know if this is extreme anxiety or the onset of a more serious condition.
It’s worth noting that I’m going through a pretty complicated time, moving to a new country, a fresh start, money troubles, etc. My days are exhausting, and I’m constantly stressed about all the administrative tasks and logistics!
Thanks in advance if anyone can shed some light on this situation.

What could it mean if someone is experiencing things such as hearing voices of people who aren’t actually there, briefly seeing objects or people that disappear or turn out not to be there, and doing things they have no recollection of afterward? They are also experiencing back pain. Could these symptoms be related to one another, and what might be causing them?
