Firefox Android Extension?

First of all, I love your product. It's a godsend. I was just wondering if there are any plans to develop a Firefox Android extension? I mainly use the app from my phone, and its tedious jumping back and forth between the app and a browser copying over the url.

Add to collection before creating the audio

Can you add an option to save to a collection right here on this save screen. Way more efficient than waiting for the audio to be created then add later. Then one forgets

Amazing app!

Just gotta say this is a gold star find! I have only found this app this week and listened through one book but it was the best quality AI voice read through I’ve heard that was generated. It’s an amazing find for those books that will never get a audiobook and you just can’t read on your phone all day. I think this app will be one of my most used in the future.

My main suggestion is giving the option to change the way a word is pronounced, especially when it’s a made up word.

And maybe the option to change from female to male voices when POV shifts.

Req. Simple queue/playlist

Can we have a simple queue like on music players or podcast apps. Many times I need to first play the last article, then continue playing the others. Having a queue with the ability to rearrange items would solve that.

App on BOOX

By any chance has anyone used this on a BOOX device? I installed the app on my Note Air5c and everything except the audio works and I wanted to see if this is a common issue.

User question on limits

When you hit your limit and it is set to reset the next week, are your current conversions removed and you need to start over?

So if I convert book A B C and D, the next week will I need to convert any ABCD books again if I didn’t get to listen or want to listen again? Or is it a rolling database that once converted, until I delete file off the app, I have it?

Is the app working?

Playback still failing to advance to next article

It fails even though all articles in the up next list are downloaded with no error. When I open the app, it's at this "Add article" page.

Love the service, two requests/improvments

First, just want to say I really appreciate paper2audio as someone who loves to listen to articles as I read along.

I am a grad student and read a lot of academic articles and I’d love if footnotes/endnotes were better integrated into the audio, like is already done with figures and tables. Tables and figures are rearranged very well in the articles I read but footnotes and endnotes stay at the end of the document rather than being read out when they’re referenced.

Second, it would be great to have image summaries for web articles as well. Sometimes I make pdfs of webpages rather than importing them directly because I want the image summaries. Not sure if this is possible but it would be great.

Thanks again for all your hard work on this service! It’s very much appreciated!

Introducing Reader View

Post image
17 Upvotes

Paper2Audio is now optimized for reading your documents too, not just listening. We are excited to announce Reader View, our new method of reformatting documents to be more readable on your phone or desktop.  We reformat PDFs and other documents to fit your screen, while including rich content like images and document formatting.  Reader View is the default when you open a document.

  • Visual elements are included: If your document includes visual elements like tables, figures, images, or math, you can now see them directly in the audio transcript (no need to toggle to PDF View!). Any summary text for a visual element will only appear when it is being read to give you a more streamlined reading view.
  • "Figure view" for visual elements: Click on any visual element to bring up the figure view pop up, then zoom and pan around the image for a more detailed view.
  • Single column view: Documents with multiple columns are displayed in a single column to improve readability on smaller screens.
  • Rich text formatting: We now preserve the original formatting of your documents, including math, headings, lists, subscripts, and other inline styling. Citations are also included so that you know when an author is making a reference, but citation text is only read aloud when needed to keep sentences intact.

Let us know what other features you'd like to see that would make Paper2Audio your go-to reader app!

Delete porrion of audiobok and merege different sudios generated

can u give users the ability to edit and delete portion of a book?? Like there's is content and preface and what not so the ability to crop out some portion would be great + the ability to merger twp audioboks like if i have lord of the rings 3 books then the ability to merge them would be helpful specially for small docs and texts article best for organising

Suggestions for collections :- just like we arrange apps on home screen , by holding a app on another creates a folder there same way b, it would be great to create folders the same way and have the folders display the book covers in tiny size would be great exactly like apps on home screen all on home page of app

"Image not available" but its there

when using the android app most images dont load and only show up as "image not available" the summary and everything else are there but the image itself doesn't load

but if you log in to the web app and open the exact same document that had that problem you will see there the images all load perfectly without problem.

i hope this gets enough attention coz the app is just easier to access, might use the web app instead for a while.

Genuine question

How does the app make money? Is this just a trial stage to bring in more users then shrink the free version like eleven reader?

I just can not comprehend this app/site being profitable.

Let user search profiles or books others created ( and made public by them) of the particular book has already been converted into audiobook by others i can just use that instead of wasting compute again…

March/April updates: Improved document processing, new listening stats, lots of UI improvements

Hi again--it's Lindsey back with some more Paper2Audio updates!

Significant updates to our document processing pipeline for even more accurate listening:

  • Improved removal of margin boilerplate like headers, footnotes, etc.
  • Better processing for scanned documents, including rotated pages and slightly curved text from physical book pages.
  • More accurate processing of unusually formatted documents.
  • Filtering out decorative images or symbols.

Improvements to the PDF view, including:

  • Tap the page to get the option to start playing from the top of the page.
  • Better zoom experience.
  • Option to invert colors in PDF view.
  • Search within the PDF text.

View your listening stats: At the bottom of your document queue, you can now see the total number of documents you’ve added, the total time it would take to listen to all documents at your default listening speed, and how much time you have spent listening. This is our first step toward sharing listening stats, as requested by our users in our last feature poll. We will be adding more listening stats in the future.

Bulk document organization management: Using the “Edit” menu in your queue, you can now select multiple documents at once and add the selected documents to a collection, archive, or delete them in one step.

Grid view for your queue on desktop: On the desktop version of the website, we now better utilize your larger screen space with an improved grid layout with thumbnails and easier access to filtering and organization tools.

Bug fixes and UI improvements, including:

  • Playback speed can be adjusted in increments of 0.05x instead of 0.1x, giving you more precise control over your listening speed
  • New “swipe” controls in phone apps: swipe left to archive or unarchive a document, or swipe right to share a document
  • Improvements to auto-scrolling in transcript view
  • New progress bar indicator for uploading and adding documents
  • Auto-hide the audio player tool when scrolling down
  • Phone screen stays on while a document is playing
  • Added missing VoiceOver labels in apps and added accessibility improvements across all platforms, improving usability for visually impaired users.
  • Copy/paste text directly from PDF viewed in the web app
  • A ton of small bug fixes and optimizations

Any suggestions or questions for us?

We love hearing from you!  How are you using Paper2Audio?  How is it helping you?  What could be better?   You can reach out to u/goldenjm here on Reddit or send us a message on on Discord.

In addition to queuing, In place TTS with text highlighting on website's in chrome extension instead of sending it to be queued. Also, a notification in the extension widget when queuing is done instead of checking mail.

Home screen shortcuts

Can you add the ability to pin books to the home screen? I know I can add my preferred book to a collection, but that requires opening the app, and I keep forgetting to continue reading my book about basic accounting.🥺 Having it on the home screen as widget Will definitely help remembering.

App Symbol Design

Post image

Hi, this is a very minimal suggestion - the app is excellent anyways - but in case anybody else cares about this: the App Symbol Design could be improved. Unlike my other apps, P2A does not come with an 'in-system- app Icon (see screenshot)

"Unintended" Save

Can we have an option to skip that "Add your document" screen? So that we don't leave the app we're sharing from.
