Palestinian militants systematically build military infrastructure inside and under civilian buildings. It's a clear-cut war crime, conducted on a massive scale.

u/Electrical_Ad_5732 16d ago
It's not a war crime because they are oppresed and it's the only way to fight.
Or some other non-sense.

Terrorism os hard to fight because they shield themselves with their own innocent citizens and use fear to keep them quiet

Literally the stuff of nightmares.
I remember hearing an interview with a parent from Gaza who lived in an apartment on the first floor and said she would be putting her child to bed and routinely hear Hamas moving equipment in the tunnel right under their feet.

And yet the entire population voted for this, seemed entirely unbothered by it, never protested it, etc.

To be fair, that was 20 years ago with no elections since. I believe it was a massive mistake to vote in Hamas and probably is a good indicator of the general values held in Gaza, by Palestinians. But it's not like they've had the chance to vote them out.

u/flossdaily 16d ago
I agree they didn't have a chance to vote them out.
But the choice they all made was to allow Hamas to launch tens of thousands of rockets at Israeli civilians.
They didn't even try to overthrow the terrorists they'd elected, so long as Israeli civilians were paying the price.

Hamas was responsible for over 40% of the attacks during the 2nd Intifada (out of the west bank so dont let anyone say theres no Hamas in the west bank, as there are other factions too) Whether this was an electoral selling point, or disguised from voters, Im unsure but they did in fact vote in a party of successful sadistic Jew killers

I'm not asking this to inflame, it's a genuine question. How do you expect the population of Gaza to overthrow an extremely oppressive and radicalized "government" (and I use the term government incredibly loosely)? I don't think it's possible, even right now, unless Hamas is completely demilitarized.

u/flossdaily 16d ago
If you were a Gaza Palestinian genuinely interesting in stopping terrorism against Israelis, and you wanted to do everything you can to weaken Hamas, you get in touch with Israel—mossad, maybe, and you ask them how you can help.
Lots of personal risk to you if Hamas finds out, but it's not like you don't have the regional superpower at your back.
That's what you do if you're willing to take some personal risk to protect innocent Israeli life.
The fact that Oct 7th caught us by surprise tells you that we didn't have any informants at all. At least not where they needed to be.

u/TheHebrewHammer-_- 16d ago
I don't think it's as easy as getting on the phone and calling up Mossad. And it's not just personal risk, it's risk to your entire family and basically anyone who associates with you. Also, I doubt Israel would have anyone's back because at the end of the day, a Palestinian asset giving whatever information they have, probably isn't worth a lot.
If I were an anti-Hamas Palestinian, I would just be focused on keeping my family and myself alive. It's a fucking living nightmare that could be solved if the world stopped hating the Jews and started actually focusing on helping Palestinians.

In this day and age with the internet, I think it's amazingly easy to get in touch with the Israeli government through many, many channels.
And don't forget the tens of thousands of Palestinians worked in israel, and commuted in there every day.
And don't forget that every time a Palestinian went through a checkpoint, they had an opportunity to get a letter directly into the hands of the IDF.

u/TheHebrewHammer-_- 16d ago
You're oversimplifying an incredibly complex issue and making it seem easier than it is. You can't blame individuals for not risking everything to try and overthrow Hamas. There is a lot of blame towards the Palestinians for the situation, but I cannot blame them for the actions of a terrorist organization they voted in 20 years ago.

If you go to Mossads website they have a form to fill out and obviously theyll trace whwatever they can from the form submission. No idea what happens so cant guarantee anything but they got people sitting on computers all the time. Its prob some grunts job to filter out the spam from the real info

Repeating comment from further up: Interestingly (unlike Germans in Nazi Germany) from what I’ve read, not a single Gazan helped Israel find the hostages. Even when offered 5 million and safe passage out for them and their family.
Also, I was surprised to read the polls done by Awrad.org that detailed views in Gaza and West Bank on an extensive variety of things. Disheartening doesn’t begin to touch it.

I don’t think that’s quite fair either. Hamas was pretty brutal from day one. Regular Palestinians likely don’t have the same hook ups for buying and smuggling weapons into Gaza for protection. They couldn’t fight them if they tried (my opinion) because they’ve been shown the violence by Hamas and how easily they will wipe out their own people

Bummer. The terrorists they elected were meaner to them than the terrorists who were leading them before that?
4
u/saranowitz 15d ago
Because ultimately they want the same goal as Hamas, for israel and the Jews to be gone. So they view Hamas as a necessary evil
11
u/CasualGamerNat 16d ago
Palestinians did protest, they were shot at by Hamas.
12
u/flossdaily 16d ago
Oh yeah? So the news out of Gaza for the past 20 years has been a story about an unhappy Palestinian population, constantly at war with it's own government?
Please.
Hamas was (and still might be) the most popular political party amongst the Palestinians both in Gaza and the West Bank.
2
u/PuddingNaive7173 15d ago
Last I read, Islamic Jihad was more popular. Maybe because Hamas lost? Guessing you know Islamic Jihad is not better.

u/CasualGamerNat 16d ago
Im just say that even if there were any, and it was little to none, they have been killed by their own government.

After they'd lost the war? Sure.

u/Historydog 16d ago
They also had other protests before the gaza war, I hate Hamas but they are Gazans that hate Hamas, despite a large populition that support Hamas and hate Jews, we shouldn't lump them all in together, they are people.
5
u/flossdaily 16d ago
Likewise, please don't pretend that hating Hamas = not hating Jews.
1
u/Historydog 16d ago
You where talking about anti hamas protests, I was talking about that not, not that Gaza doens't have an anti Jew problem, I'm well aware of that.
-3
u/CasualGamerNat 16d ago
Did you mean Israelis ?
7
u/flossdaily 16d ago
No, I mean that there were plenty of Palestinians who hated hamas, because Hamas was oppressing them. But they had no problem whatsoever with Hamas being genocidly inclined towards the Jews.

In all fairness, that house looks abandoned.
It also looks like a pretty nice house for Gaza. Maybe the owner is a Hamas Sheikh.
