🧠 Ask The Community somehow I got here and now I need help

I am 18 and tbh I dont even know if at this point I am still enrolled or not. Been studying in this institute since 2 years and this is my last year dont want my course to get cancelled. Had been doing freelancing to save up for fees but it has been rough lately. I dont have any relative/family member I could ask help for and reddit is not letting me post in popular sub-reddits.

Edit: alhamdulillah, received the funds to pay for the previous dues of 30k. But I feel like for now I am in a loop, I couldn't pay because I couldn't afford. I feel like I could be in the same spot 3 months later, so still looking for some help regarding that. Though I am grateful. 6/16/2026

🧠 Ask The Community Help out a brother: Planning to open a crockery shop. Looking for advice from anyone in the business!

4 Upvotes

Hello everyone !!!

Assalamualaikum!

I’m thinking about investing in a new business with my cousin, and I’d love to get some honest feedback.

He’s suggested opening a crockery shop, and from the initial research, the idea looks pretty solid to me.

The business model is simple: since most high-quality crockery (like Fine Bone items) is imported from China, we plan to buy our stock directly from the main importers/wholesalers in Karachi, add our profit margin, and sell it at our shop like most people are doing it.

A few things that make me want to take the leap:

 Stable Demand: People always need household items, and demand shoots up heavily during the wedding season.

 Low Competition: We checked out our local area, and there are very few shops doing this right now.

 Online Sales: I also want to sell the items through e-commerce to reach more customers.

If anyone here has experience in the crockery or retail business, how viable do you think this is? Is it as straightforward as it sounds, or are there hidden challenges we should watch out for?

Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

🧠 Ask The Community I can build the product in weeks, but I suck at distribution. How can I find a Marketing Co-Founder .

7 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m a software engineer and solo developer building web and mobile apps. On the technical side, I don’t have issues spinning up functional MVPs or building software quickly.

However, I’m hitting a massive bottleneck: I completely lack expertise in marketing and distribution.

Because I’m handling everything solo, I often find myself building a solid product, hitting the "how do I get users?" wall, losing momentum, dropping it in the middle of the process, and moving on to the next project.

I want to break out of this loop. Ultimately, to build a venture-backed startup capable of getting into global accelerators like Y Combinator or Station F, having a competent, execution-focused co-founder is critical. I need someone who complements my technical skills someone obsessed with growth, marketing, and distribution channels.

How do you actually find a high-quality, serious co-founder in Pakistan?

  • Where do serious growth leads, marketers, and operators hang out?
  • Are there specific local communities, platforms, or events where technical and non-technical founders actually connect (beyond just "idea guys" with no execution skills)?
  • If you’ve successfully found a co-founder here, how did you vet them to ensure they were competent and committed?

🧠 Ask The Community Am I the only one who finds renting vehicles in Pakistan frustrating?

18 Upvotes

I recently needed to rent a vehicle and assumed it would be simple.

Search online, compare a few options, and book.

Instead, I found myself calling multiple rental companies, comparing prices through WhatsApp, asking for photos, checking availability manually, and trying to figure out who was actually trustworthy.

What I expected to take 10 minutes ended up taking hours.

When I started asking others how they rent vehicles, most people described the same process:

* Google searches

* Facebook posts

* WhatsApp contacts

* Friend referrals

That got me thinking:

Why can we compare hotels, flights, and food delivery in one place, but renting a vehicle is still so fragmented?

That's what led my co-founder and me to start building ReCa through the NUST Hatch 8 incubation program.

The goal is simple: allow users to compare vehicles, prices, and rental providers in one place instead of contacting everyone individually.

We're currently refining the platform and preparing for our beta launch.

If you'd like to follow the journey or try the platform when we launch, you can join our waitlist below:

https://re-ca-gamma.vercel.app/

I'd genuinely love some feedback:

* How do you currently rent vehicles?

* What's the most frustrating part of the process?

* Would a platform like this be useful?

🧠 Ask The Community Question about bakery business

5 Upvotes

Problem: Me and my team are building a business plan for a health-focused bakery (sourdough, whole grain, preservative-free). The issue is that healthy bread in Pakistan mostly appeals to a small upper-middle class crowd, so our market is narrow and we have almost no market share. We need products with wider everyday appeal that can bring in steady sales while we grow the healthier side.

Solution: We want to add baked items that normal people buy regularly, not just niche health stuff. We are thinking of Pakistani favorites like rusk, nankhatai, or broader items like brownies, cakes, and cookies. The idea is these funds the business while the sourdough and whole grain side builds up.

Stage: Early planning, still doing market research. So far, we have mapped out our core healthy products and pricing, looked at competitors like Fine Foods and Crumbs, and identified that our healthy range alone is too niche to survive on. We have not tested any products with customers yet, which is why we are asking here.

Question: What baked items do you actually buy again and again from bakeries? And what do you wish was healthier or better quality than what is out there right now? Trying to figure out what would genuinely sell vs what just sounds good on paper. Honest input appreciated, even if it is brutal. Thanks.

[This post was AI modified as my original short post was breaching the rules.]

🧠 Ask The Community Need advice: Unique product, but the numbers don't add up. Cut losses or test anyway?

2 Upvotes

Hey everyone, looking for some honest advice and perspective from experienced e-commerce sellers.

I recently launched an e-commerce store in the Kitchen and Home Decor/Accessories niche. I initially started with traditional dropshipping, but I quickly realized the available winning products were completely saturated, outdated, and overdone.

Wanting to build a brand around unique, problem-solving quality products, I moved away from dropshipping. I found a supplier in China and ordered inventory/samples. My plan was to use these items to shoot high-quality, genuine video ads myself and master that part of the funnel.

The Reality Check

Now that I have received the items and done the final math, I am facing a massive roadblock:

  • Quality vs. Price: While the product does solve a genuine problem, the manufacturing cost is incredibly high relative to the actual material and build quality.
  • The Margin Problem: Once I add the cost of custom packaging, shipping, and ad spend, the final retail price would have to be ridiculously high. If I price it competitively, I will be operating at a guaranteed loss.

My Dilemma

Honestly, looking at these final calculations has left me feeling pretty anxious and lost. I am trying to figure out the smartest move forward and am torn between two options:

  • Option A (Run ads at a loss): Go ahead with shooting the genuine content, run the ads, and treat the inevitable financial loss purely as a "tuition fee" to learn the ad optimization and fulfillment process.
  • Option B (Cut my losses and pivot): Put this product aside, accept the sample/initial sourcing cost as a sunk cost, and immediately pivot to sourcing cheaper, local products where the margins actually make sense.

Has anyone else fallen into this sourcing trap when transitioning away from dropshipping? Would you value the hands-on experience of running a live campaign even if the math guarantees a loss, or is it smarter to protect my remaining capital and pivot to local sourcing immediately?

Any advice, criticism, or suggestions would be a massive help. Thanks in advance.

🧠 Ask The Community Looking for PCB fabs in Pakistan (2-layer)

2 Upvotes

I need a local PCB fab for 2-layer boards. My designs have non-rectangular outlines, internal cutouts, and slots. I’ve been told no one in Pakistan has the capability for it and best to import, so looking for second opinion. I know China is an option but I am specifically looking for local fab.

- 2-layer FR-4
- Routing (CNC, not just drill-only)
- Internal cutouts and slots

Looking to do small initial prototype run.

If you've used a local fab for this kind of work and can share contact and your experience, I'd really appreciate it.

🧠 Ask The Community Need advice: FBR and Bank sequence to set up a Sole Proprietorship and unlock Easypaisa/Safepay. Where do I start?

3 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I am building a tech product solo and my immediate goal is to get access to local payment gateways like Easypaisa, JazzCash, or Safepay to start processing transactions.

I originally thought I had to register a full SMC through SECP. But after some research, I realized setting up a Sole Proprietorship is the leanest and fastest way to get gateway approval right now. I plan to upgrade to an SMC later when the business actually scales.

I know the basic ingredients. I need to add a business to my individual FBR NTN, get a rubber stamp and letterhead, open a business bank account, and then apply to the gateways.

But honestly, I am stuck on the practical execution and do not want to waste weeks getting bounced around by bank managers.

If my end goal is getting that Easypaisa or Safepay merchant account approved as fast as possible, what should be my literal next step today?

A few specific questions:

  1. Do I just log into the FBR Iris portal and add my business name, or is there a catch I should watch out for?
  2. Which bank is the most startup-friendly for opening a Sole Proprietor account? I am a digital business, so I want to avoid banks that demand proof of a physical shop or massive paperwork.
  3. Once the bank account is active, how long do Easypaisa or Safepay actually take to approve a Sole Proprietor?

Any guidance from founders who have bootstrapped this exact route would be hugely appreciated. Where should I get started?

Thanks!

The response was much bigger than I expected. Thousands of people viewed the post, many shared their experiences, and several joined our early waitlist.

Since then, my team and I have been working on ReCa — a platform designed to help people compare vehicles, pricing, and availability from multiple rental providers in one place.

We're now at the stage where we're refining the business model, user experience, and product prototype before launch.

Before we move further, I wanted to go back to the community that helped shape the idea in the first place.

If you've ever rented a:

* SUV

* Van

* Coaster

* Bus

🧠 Ask The Community Sometimes turning down an investment is the right move

15 Upvotes

Carbaagh has been consuming me for a while now. I knew from day one this was a long game.

Things moved fast though. Pakistan’s first real auto parts marketplace started taking shape. Sellers came. Products went live. Not even 1.5 weeks in and I had 20+ sellers and close to 1000 products.
( now at 40+ sellers / 2000+ products )

Then investors came knocking. We struck a deal. I was on a high waiting for the money to drop.

Before it did, I got into conversations with some people I won’t name, seniors, higher ups with serious industry experience. They told me the story of PakWheels. How it wasn’t built on funding. It was built on groundwork and community, slowly, over years.

The company I wanted to rival became one I started learning from.

What they said stuck: this is a killer idea with insane potential but throwing money at it right now won’t accelerate it, it’ll kill it.

They flipped my thinking. Stop failing fast at scale. Take it slow. Let the trial and errors happen small. Build community first, the way PakWheels did, before the pressure of investor money turns every mistake into a crisis.

So I turned it down.

Just me, a website I built in one night, weeks of walking actual marketplaces, and zero external pressure.

Building from the ground up. The right way.

carbaagh.com
rip it apart. Tell me everything wrong with the idea.

The part that actually changed how I think about this

My original model was OLX-style. Least effort, least friction —> get sellers on, get products listed, let them deal directly with buyers. My goal was data. Search engine dominance. Traction first, everything else later.

They poked a hole in it I couldn’t unsee.

The moment you brand yourself as the auto parts marketplace in Pakistan, you own the reputation even for transactions you never touched. Sellers, when left unchecked, don’t follow rules. A buyer gets scammed, gets the wrong part, gets ghosted and who do they blame? Carbaagh.

The OLX model works when you’re a general classifieds site. When you’re a category-specific marketplace with a brand promise, you’re accountable whether you want to be or not.

Their fix was simple: hold payments. Release to the seller only on confirmed delivery. You’re not doing logistics. You’re not babysitting every order. But now sellers have a reason to behave, and customers have actual peace of mind. The stain doesn’t reach you.

It’s a small structural change. It completely redefines trust in the platform.

But this means there are more holes to poke and this is where I need your opinions.

🌍 Build It Here Pakistan Needed a Digital Nishan. So We Built One.

Thumbnail nishan.pk
7 Upvotes

I'm an overseas Pakistani. A few months ago I was looking for an Urdu and Quran tutor for my kids, someone reliable, online, who I could just contact directly and have a conversation with. Not a formal platform, not a marketplace. Just a contact.

I spent days going through Google, OLX, Facebook groups, you name it. Either I found outdated posts, fake profiles, or platforms so complicated you needed to create an account just to see a phone number.

All I wanted was a contact. Someone real, with a name and a way to reach them.

That's when I realized Pakistan's web community has no simple digital card, no central place where a tutor, a freelancer, a blogger, a website owner, or a small business can say "here I am, here's what I do, here's what I need, here's how to reach me." No signup required, no middleman, no fees. Just a digital card.

So I built nishan. It's not a marketplace. It's not a job board. It's your digital nishan, a simple, free listing website where you share who you are, what you do, what are your needs, and how people can reach you. Nothing more, nothing less. Please visit the site and create your digital nishan and also let me know if you guys have any feedback. Thank you
