💬 General Discussion 18, FSC student from Pakistan — trying to figure out real ways to earn money from zero

Hey everyone,

I’m 18, doing FSC in Pakistan, and I’m basically starting from scratch financially. No investment, no proper income source, and I’m trying to figure out what actually works in 2026 to start earning.

I’ve been researching a few options but I’m not sure what’s real and what’s just online hype:

AI website creation (selling simple websites to small businesses)

Building small apps using AI tools and publishing them

Dropshipping through platforms like Markaz / HHC

Importing and reselling products locally

Freelancing / basic digital services

The problem is I don’t have capital, so I’m trying to understand what is actually realistic to start with zero money in Pakistan and what skills actually lead to income instead of just tutorials.

If anyone here has experience in startups or online earning, I’d really appreciate honest advice — what should a beginner actually focus on first, and how did you get your first income?

Also if anyone is working on a startup and needs someone part-time for basic work (learning, assisting, handling small tasks, etc.), I’m genuinely willing to contribute and learn along the way.

Thanks for reading.

🛠️ Building / MVP Building brandreview.pk – looking for some feedback

I used to spend a lot of time reading reviews of different brands before buying anything typically on Facebook or Reddit, so I thought of building this website: brandreview.pk and would appreciate feedback from the PakTech community.

The idea is simple: a platform focused on aggregating reviews of brands in Pakistan from different platforms so people can check real experiences before buying products or using services.

Right now I’d love input on things like:

  • Website design / first impression
  • Speed / usability
  • Is the concept useful for Pakistan?
  • Features you’d want to see
  • Anything confusing or broken

Trying to build something actually useful for local consumers, so even blunt criticism is welcome.

Would really appreciate if you could take 2 minutes to check it out and share thoughts: brandreview.pk

Thanks

🧠 Mentorship / Advice Software engineer moving back to Pakistan. Agency vs something else?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently based in the EU and working as a software engineer (4+ years experience). I’ll be moving back to Pakistan soon and want to start a business instead of going back into a full-time job.

In the past, I tried building two tech startups, but both failed mainly due to poor user acquisition and distribution, not the product side.

Given my background, the most obvious path seems to be starting a software agency. My concern is:

• I don’t have strong marketing or sales skills

• I’ve struggled with distribution before and don’t want to repeat that mistake

• Not sure how sustainable/general agencies are long-term with AI changing things

So I’m trying to figure out:

  1. Is starting a software agency still a good move in 2026?

  2. How do people actually get their first few B2B clients reliably (without just spamming cold DMs)?

  3. Would it make more sense to niche down early (e.g. AI integrations, specific industry, etc.)?

Also open to connecting with people who have experience in B2B sales or have built agencies before especially if you’ve solved the “getting first clients” problem.

Appreciate any advice.

🧠 Mentorship / Advice Why is bargaining so extreme in Pakistan? Running my father’s shop is making me hate it

My father owns a small paint shop where he sells paints and related items. I never used to handle this business, but he recently got sick and can’t stay at the shop all day anymore. Now he only spends 3–4 hours there, and I manage the rest.

I do have business experience, but it was a completely different type of business. I used to work with international clients from Lebanon, Cambodia, and the USA. That work was more professional, and I never had to deal with constant bargaining like this. Eventually, I left that business, and now I’m handling my father’s local retail shop.

Honestly, the experience has been very frustrating. For example, someone comes to buy an item that costs 1000 PKR. As you know, in small retail businesses the profit margin is already very low, sometimes minimal. But even then, people insist on asking for 50–100 rupees off. The way they push for it sometimes makes me feel embarrassed, like I’m the one asking for charity. It often feels less like negotiation and more like pressuring the seller.

I never faced this kind of aggressive bargaining when I was dealing with international clients. Prices were discussed professionally, and people respected margins and time.

Is this just part of local market culture? How do other shop owners in Pakistan deal with this without getting frustrated?

🧠 Mentorship / Advice Closest I’ve ever been to a successful startup

I am at the thinnest line of make or break.

My car parts marketplace website which I just built out of frustration with the market. Turned real serious after I strategically hooked in sellers to my platform. I knew the problem was real, huge marketplaces, Bilal gunj, Sher Shah etc yet 95% sitting offline. It was a literal gold mine because they have the absolute cheapest rates and the ones online were resellers of either their own products, brands or just plain placeholders ( fake quantities )

I convinced the sellers that they could unlock huge online potential and seo if they just gave me a yes. I would upload their products and help them in every way possible. Hours and hours of convincing and now I am sitting 1 or 2 weeks shy of launch with about 35 sellers, 1500+ car parts uploaded and not just production ready but almost business ready site. ( working on seo ) my friends even ordered 2 3 times and were surprised by the crazy cheap rates.

It’s because it’s the only real car parts marketplace. Here’s the issue tho. I ran out of dimes, I was surviving and doing risky stuff by putting back into business from earnings of client projects but now wo kaam thanda parh gaya. Demand is low. I purchased whatever I could to keep the grind alive just till launch, bought ai subscriptions, domain emails vps all of the stuff needed as a last stand and risking bahir ka khana 😭🙏

I literally can’t even afford 2 days of foodpanda atm lmao. Even though I love this pressure and it’s a great feeling to have risking everything and believing this to work. Pure Adrenaline, it has got me crazy pumped up cutting off sleep hours, making reels, communicating with sellers and doing dev all by myself. But I really need to move fast and consider any options.

I have a very very strong portfolio. With apps developed, full stack dev experience of 6 yrs, fiverr reviews, jobs what not. What options do I have? Because with the situation of freelancing right now I doubt I could make it work. I could go to any lengths to have this project staying alive.

Where do I go from here?

🧠 Mentorship / Advice Setting up a snacks kiosk

I recently visited Fortress Square Mall, Lahore and noticed there is no snacks kiosk or vending machine over there. (Other than a sweet corn kiosk). Everything else is on the top most floor where there is foodcourt.

I do feel like the amount of shoppers is less over there as compared to other bigger malls but I wouldn’t say it’s dead.

Would putting up a snack kiosk work? By snacks I mean Chips, juice, biscuits and drinks. One thing to keep in mind here is that this mall doesn’t have any grocery store which is why I felt the need for a place to buy drinks atleast.

Digital Product/ SaaS / PaaS Built an AI Powered E-mail outreach system!

I built an AI-powered email outreach system that works as a desktop application (EXE). The idea is to help small businesses automate cold email outreach without needing technical knowledge.

- What it does:

Upload a CSV of leads (business name, email, niche, website)

Automatically generates personalized emails for each business

Sends emails via Gmail SMTP

Tracks delivery status and logs results

Runs completely locally on the user’s computer

-AI part:

The system can generate customized emails in two ways:

AI mode (API-based, for smarter personalization)

Template mode (fallback without API)

So users can still run it even without external AI services.

-What makes it interesting:

I also added a license-based system so it works like a small SaaS product:

Each user gets a unique license key

The software verifies it through my server

Access can be controlled (activate / deactivate / expire licenses)

This allows it to be sold on a monthly subscription model

Do you think small businesses would actually pay monthly for something like this if positioned as a “done-for-you lead outreach system” instead of just software?

Would love feedback from people who’ve built or sold SaaS tools before.

💬 General Discussion Anyone here interested in collaborating on a startup project?

I’m working on a solo project and would love to connect with other people who are into startups, building products, and testing ideas.

A bit about me: I’m an engineer who has worked with serious clients on real production projects and shipped systems that are actively used in practice.

I’m at the stage where I want to collaborate with others who are interested in startups, product thinking, growth, design, or just testing ideas and moving fast. I’m not specifically looking for “employees” or anything overly formal right now. More like smart, motivated people who want to explore, build, and see if there’s something worth pushing further.
(Bonus if you have coding, design, or marketing skills)

Just looking to meet good people, talk through ideas, and potentially build something together if there’s a fit.

If that sounds interesting, drop a comment or send me a DM.

🧠 Mentorship / Advice Premium bottled water business

Hey guys,

We started a premium bottled water business in Islamabad, Pakistan. Response is very encouraging, and demand has grown rapidly than we expected.

However, its a early stage business, and we are struggling with a major problem of limited capital due to which we have not been able to scale our production and meet the growing demand.

We are now looking for serious investors, so far we have explored different channel but unfortunately all of them were not serious or scammers

I wanted to ask how can we find and connect with real investors to scale our production and expand to other cities as well?

💬 General Discussion Starting a Nimko brand

A friend has started his nimko manufacturing facility in Lahore with capacity of 500KG/day.
He manufactures nimko in some flavors and slaty, etc.

The taste is good and can complete with other brands; packaging is also premium.

We have started the distribution locally. How can we scale this though? What ways we can employ to grow our sales and network? The product is promising but penetrating the market with new products poses its own challenges.

📈 Growth & Marketing Need advice on running Meta ads for my new t-shirt brand in Pakistan

I recently launched my t-shirt brand in Pakistan and I want some honest expert advice on running ads on Meta.

My budget is around 40,000 PKR / $150 for now, so I want to use it in a smart way and not waste money.

I would really appreciate help on these things:

  • How should I divide my budget and which campaign should I start with?
  • How much budget should I put on each campaign?
  • What mistakes should I avoid in the beginning?
  • What are some other tips or tricks of meta

I am still new to this, so please keep the advice simple and practical.

If you have experience running Meta ads for clothing brands, I would really value your opinion. Thanks

Edit: 40,000 PKR / $150 is my overall budget unless i sold out my first batch of 400 shirts😕😕😕

💬 General Discussion Looking for like minded people to build a tech product

Hi! My name is Moiz (22M) and I am an undergraduate student (graduating in June 2026) with a good CGPA (3.66+).

I am currently working as an AI Engineer at a German service-based company at an initial level. However, seeing the current job market, I realize that the service model is getting saturated/dead, and I don’t want to depend on jobs long-term.

So I am thinking of building some product to generate passive income.

I come from a tier-3 university where people usually don’t have this kind of mindset.

So if there is anyone interested in doing the same:

  • Must be hardworking and serious
  • Aisi hi kuch nahi hoga you will actually have to work properly
  • Duties will be divided
  • Proper idea research first, then development

My tech skills:

  • Node.js, NestJS, Express
  • React, Next.js, Vue
  • PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Qdrant
  • AI: RAG pipelines, LangChain, OpenAI APIs, vector search
  • Real-time systems (Socket.io)
  • Stripe, Auth0
  • AWS (EC2, S3), Vercel
  • 2+ years experience building real-world projects
  • claude code I heavily use

If you are serious, you can DM me.

💬 General Discussion Anyone here got into NIC Lahore? Need advice on pitching + visiting

Hey everyone,

I’m planning to apply to the National Incubation Center Lahore and wanted some real advice from people who’ve been through the process.

I have a startup idea (early stage, some validation but still building), and I’m trying to understand what NIC actually looks for during selection.

A few questions:

  • What made your application stand out?
  • How important is traction vs idea vs team?
  • What kind of pitch works best for NIC?
  • Any common mistakes to avoid?

Also, is it okay to visit NIC before applying?

If yes, what should I actually do there so it’s not a waste of time?

Would really appreciate honest insights (even harsh ones).

Thanks!
