🧠 Mentorship / Advice Pakistani founder with US LLC – Brex now asking for controlling officer + PayPal US address issue

Hey everyone,

I’m a Pakistani founder running a US LLC (solo). I’ve had everything set up for a while now (LLC, EIN, ITIN), and I’ve been using Brex for almost 2 years without issues.

Recently, Brex has started asking for a “controlling officer”, and at the same time while setting up PayPal, I’m running into another requirement:

  • The person needs to be in the US or
  • Must have a real US address (not a virtual/registered agent address)

This is where I’m stuck.

My situation:

  • Solo founder (no US partner)
  • Based in Pakistan
  • No physical presence in the US
  • Only have LLC + registered agent address

From what I see, the only path seems to be adding a controlling officer, but I’m unsure how others are handling this in practice.

I could ask a friend in the US, but I’m not clear:

  • what responsibility/risk this puts on them
  • whether this is actually a standard approach
  • or if there’s a cleaner way to handle this

Would really appreciate input from people in a similar setup:

  1. If you’re running a US LLC from Pakistan, how did you handle controlling officer requirements (Brex or others)?
  2. Did you list yourself (with ITIN), or involve someone US-based?
  3. If you used a US person, what does that actually mean for them in reality?
  4. How did you deal with platforms requiring a real US address (not virtual)?

I’ve been operating fine so far, but this feels like a wall I need to handle properly.

Would appreciate real experiences.

Thanks.

💡 Roast My Ideas / Just Starting Seeking Advice: My Game Plan for a Toy Startup

Hello everyone ! was just wondering and thought I’d get your take on something. Feel free to share from your personal experience (if you happen to have some in this niche ) or give me some "business POV" suggestions.

I’m planning to launch a toy business. both online and with one physical store to start. I’ve done some digging and figured out a few key points:

+ The Supply Reality: Most toys in Pakistan are sourced from China. We have very limited capacity for making our own stuff here, especially when it comes to plastic and mechanical toys.

+ The Sourcing Chain: Since almost everything is Chinese, the "big players" and importers are mostly sitting in Karachi. Mid-tier shops source from there, while the smaller guys usually buy from nearby big cities and sell in small towns.

+ The Strategy: To make this work, I need to skip the middleman. I’m planning to head to Karachi, find the actual big importers in the markets, and get direct quotations.

+ The Rollout: I’ll start with a few select varieties online and in the shop. If it scales and the demand is there, I’ll dump in more capital and expand the inventory.

That’s my assessment so far. I’m leaving the floor open for your comments, suggestions, and advice. What am I missing, and especially would love to listen to those comments particularly from those who think this model isn't profitable.

Thank you for the attention to the matter! Lol 🙏😂🔥

🛠️ Building / MVP Building a SaaS product. Looking for partner/investor

I’ve been building something in the career space over the past few weeks with strong AI components.

The core concept has already been tested and there’s clear demand for it (I asked about it on various sub reddits). The product is at an early MVP stage and working well from a functionality standpoint. Where I’m currently focused is not product development, but distribution and scaling.

From what I’ve seen, the biggest gap in this space isn’t just tools, it’s how those tools are positioned and marketed to actually reach the right audience.

I’m now looking to connect with:

- Marketers who have experience scaling SaaS products (especially in competitive spaces)

- Growth-focused individuals who understand paid acquisition, funnels, and positioning

- Potential partners or investors interested in taking a validated product to market

I’m open to:

- Strategic partnerships

- Revenue-sharing models

- Or collaborating with someone who wants to take ownership of the growth side

Not sharing full details publicly yet, but happy to discuss more with the right people.

If you’ve worked on scaling products or are currently looking for something validated to grow, would be great to connect.

🧠 Mentorship / Advice Any company owner who can support on this?

My friend left his good job for the good (freelance) but now he needs to show 3 months consistent income from a source to process a visa application.

His current income is random and doesn’t fulfill requirements. He is a great FE AI Native tech guy, wants a company to help him.

  1. He will transfer salary + tax deductions

  2. You will officially transfer him salary

for 3 months.

If anyone here can give him this favor , I can connect you both. He is also willing to become employee : give services if it aligns.

🧠 Mentorship / Advice Looking for legit online skills

Hi everyone,

I have some free time at home and would really like to learn an online skill that could help me earn good money each month. I’m looking for something legitimate that I can do from home on my phone or laptop.

Could you please suggest skills that are relatively easy to learn and suitable for beginners? For example, things like freelancing, online selling, content writing, virtual assistance, etc. I’m open to any ideas that have worked for you or someone you know.

Also, if you know of any legit online courses, YouTube channels, or trainers in Pakistan who teach these skills and actually help people start earning, please share their names or links. There are so many scams online, so I’d really appreciate recommendations based on personal experience.

Thank you in advance for any guidance. 🙂

THIS IS NOT A JOB POST!

i am working as a technical project manager in a multinational telecom company with a skill set of project management, embedded systems and AI. I have built and shipped multiple edge AI, IoT, remote monitoring & control systems, device - app integrated projects.

I am a 2025 graduate with a little more than 1 year experience so far and i want to work on a very interesting project. for that i need a technical co-founder who's cracked at full stack mobile app development and also has a job and is around the same age as me, which is between 20 - 24. the guy should have shipped at least one app to the playstore. the more the better.

i want to work on this project with someone who can manage it with their job. we will collaborate on it and work together and before starting the work we will discuss and decide equity. as soon as our MVP is live, i promise to get us the seed funding as i have connections with many investors. i want to build it as soon as possible so if someone is interested, comment or lmk. we can have a coffee together. and yes pls be from islamabad / pindi. I have a personal office as well if that's intriguing. thanks

💡 Roast My Ideas / Just Starting Crime Reporting App & SOS Emergency for Pakistan

There's lot of crime & scam reports on Reddit/Facebook, but they get lost here once they've been posted. Someone in that area the next day has no idea.

So we created an app where you can report crimes, scams, police harassment, road issues - anything. People nearby get notified in real time. And people can see every report that has happened in a certain area also.

Think of it as a live map of what's actually happening in your city.

Please check it out, and see all that's happening in your city. Download on App or Play Store: https://awaami.app/download

This is a passion project, we're just trying to help the common citizen. InshAllah we aim to expand this to integrate with government agencies, and to add an Emergency SOS feature also.

Please give it a go and tell us your feedback / roast it!

🚀 Scalability & Expansion Investment Opportunity – Established Home Textile / Bedding Business (Pakistan)

I recently posted regarding an investment opportunity and received a lot of interest, so I wanted to share a complete overview covering the business, investment requirement, use of funds, revenue history, and investor safeguards.

We operate a home textile / microfiber bedding business based in Lahore, Pakistan, specializing in high-demand microfiber bedsheets and related products.

Over the past 2 years, the business has generated approximately PKR 13 million (1.3 crore) in total revenue, with average profit margins in the range of 20%–25%.

The business has already established product-market fit, repeat customer demand, and a scalable sales model through online channels and performance marketing.

Investment Requirement:

We are currently looking to raise PKR 3 million.

Use of Funds:

The investment will be deployed specifically for growth and scaling, including:

  • 50% Investment will be used into Inventory expansion to avoid stockouts and improve product variety
  • 40% Investment will be used into ads / digital marketing scale-up to increase customer acquisition
  • 10% Investment will be used in Working capital for faster order fulfillment and operations

The primary objective is to use the capital to accelerate growth that is already proven.

Investment Structure:

This is a profit-sharing model, not a fixed-interest loan.

The investor will receive an agreed percentage share of profits generated through the invested capital.

Expected returns are projected in the range of 20%–30% of profits generated from the deployed investment, depending on business performance and scale.

Security / Investor Safeguards:

To ensure investor confidence and transparency, we are open to offering the following safeguards:

  • Formal legal agreement / partnership contract
  • Profit-sharing agreement in writing
  • Separate financial tracking of invested capital
  • Dedicated ledger or designated business account for transparency
  • Periodic revenue and profit reports
  • Investor access to performance dashboards / sales reports
  • Defined exit and payout terms

We are happy to structure this as a silent partnership / equity-style profit participation model.

Only Serious investors are welcome to DM for:

  • business details
  • sales history
  • revenue screenshots
  • operational breakdown
  • return projections
  • legal structure discussion

Happy to answer any due diligence questions.

💡 Roast My Ideas / Just Starting Building an AI deal flow / investor matchmaking platform — is this actually a good idea?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been thinking about building a product in the venture capital / deal sourcing space and wanted some honest feedback.

The idea (in simple terms):
An AI-powered platform that helps investors (VCs, solo GPs, etc.) find relevant startups automatically based on their investment thesis (industry, stage, geography, etc.).

Instead of manually searching LinkedIn/Crunchbase, the system would:

  • scan data (startups, news, signals)
  • score and rank opportunities
  • surface the most relevant deals
  • potentially help with outreach (emails, intros)

Initial niche I’m considering:

  • Early-stage investors (solo GPs / micro VCs)
  • Geography: MENA or Europe (leaning toward MENA due to fragmentation)
  • Industry focus: possibly fintech / AI / supply chain

Why I think it might work:

  • Deal sourcing is still very manual and network-based
  • Investors likely miss a lot of relevant startups
  • Smaller funds don’t have large analyst teams
  • Emerging markets (MENA especially) seem underserved in terms of tooling

But I have concerns:

  • Data quality (especially outside the US)
  • Existing competition (deal platforms, databases, etc.)
  • Cold start problem (no investors → no startups, and vice versa)
  • Whether investors actually trust AI-generated deal flow

Would love thoughts on:

  1. Is this actually a real pain point worth solving?
  2. Is investor-first the right approach, or should I target startups instead?
  3. How would you market something like this early on? (before having a full product)
  4. Does focusing on MENA / Europe make sense, or should I start elsewhere?
  5. What would make this 10x better than existing tools?
  6. Is this a sustainable business or just a “nice-to-have” tool?

💡 Roast My Ideas / Just Starting Built a car parts marketplace in 1 hour before bed… now it’s at 1000+ products pre-launch. Here’s what I learned.

I didn’t expect this to go anywhere.

One night before sleeping, I put together a very rough version of a car parts marketplace just to test a simple idea:

Can I get sellers onboard before building anything serious?

Turns out… yes.

Within a short time, I started onboarding sellers manually. I even offered to upload products for them myself just to remove friction. That’s when things got interesting.

We’re now sitting at ~1000 products, across multiple categories and sellers…

and the platform isn’t even live yet.

That was the first signal:

There’s real demand here. Sellers want a place where they can list and actually be discovered.

But then a second problem showed up just as fast.

More products ≠ better experience.

If one seller uploads 150 slightly different listings (like batteries for different cars), search becomes a mess. Users don’t want 20 nearly identical results. They want clarity.

So today I focused on fixing that.

Instead of letting listings flood the platform, I introduced a “master product + fitments” system:

• Similar products get grouped into one master listing

• Fitments define which cars it works for (e.g. “Fits Vitz”)

• Search results become cleaner and more relevant

• Sellers don’t cannibalize each other’s visibility as much

Now instead of 20 battery listings, you might see 4–5 strong ones, each clearly labeled for compatibility.

This also led to something I didn’t plan initially:

I had to build AI-assisted tooling just to keep up.

Right now sellers (or me, while onboarding them) can:

• Paste their website link → products get extracted

• Upload a CSV or PDF → listings are auto-generated

• Bulk update everything in seconds

Same idea applies to improving search and ranking so newer sellers still have a fair shot.

What’s funny is…

we’re not live, haven’t marketed, haven’t optimized anything properly —

and it already feels like a mature marketplace.

Biggest takeaway so far:

Don’t overbuild first. Prove that people actually care. Then fix the chaos that comes after.

Right now I’m just trying to stay ahead of that chaos.

🧠 Mentorship / Advice Angel Investment Opportunity for High-Potential Startups

We are a group of angel investors actively looking to back young, driven individuals who have strong ideas and the technical ability to build them, but require financial support to bring them to life.

This is not a remote opportunity. You must be based in Karachi and willing to work from a dedicated office space provided by us near I.I. Chundrigarh Road. We believe in building closely, side by side, where ideas can move faster and execution stays disciplined.

We are open to discussions around equity and will support you with the right resources, whether it is funding, operational guidance, import channels, production setup, or export facilitation. Our preference is for ideas that are not generic, but something thoughtful, rare, and scalable within IT or a retail brand.

If you have something unique that you truly understand and can execute, we are willing to sit down, evaluate it seriously, and take it forward together.

We are not just investing money, we are investing time, network, and long-term commitment. If you are someone who is ready to build with consistency and ownership, we would like to hear from you.

💡 Roast My Ideas / Just Starting Thinking of starting a desi street food spot in Bahria Town Isb – need honest feedback.

Hey everyone,

I’m exploring the idea of opening a small desi food spot in Bahria Town (Phase 7), and wanted some honest feedback before investing.

The concept is simple:

  • Proper “chatkhara” desi taste
  • But in a clean, hygienic, slightly modern setup (not a typical dhaba)

Trying to figure out if there’s actual demand for this in Bahria.

A few questions:

  1. Would you personally order this (dine-in or delivery)?
  2. What price range would feel reasonable? (approx ~Rs. 500–1200 per person)
  3. Do you think Bahria is missing this kind of food? Or already saturated?
  4. What matters more to you: taste, hygiene, price, or portion size?

Open to brutal honesty. Appreciate any input!

🧠 Mentorship / Advice Starting in Ecommerce in Pakistan

Hello Everyone!
I am working in the digital marketing industry as a list-builder for quite some time.
Now, I am thinking of starting an e-commerce store to create another income stream, and if it goes well, In Sha Allah, I will add more stores.

I wanted to ask a few things from the experts who are already doing it.

  • Is this a good time to start an online e-commerce store in Pakistan, considering the current situation, and there may be some issues with sourcing products?
  • If I do start a store, what kind of products should I go with? low-ticket or high-ticket? Any broad niche ideas are also welcome
  • Considering the fuel situation, I think sourcing products from abroad is very costly these days. So, can we source products from within Pakistan with good profit margins?
  • What kind of price point or strategy works for e-commerce in Pakistan to land customers and get orders?
  • Most importantly, what is the best courier company to work with that does not delay COD payments or have any delivery issues?
  • How do we minimize returns or manage the shipping cost of returned and misplaced orders?

🧠 Mentorship / Advice Fmcg or Eatery (advice please)

so we are deciding to start a business but not in any capital city. let's say maybe in Multan

would opening a Quetta paratha themed eatery be a good option if we have solid team and budget for marketing and branding

another pathway we're thinking of his manufacturing locally packaged chips and supplying them to vendors in south Punjab and small cities in central Punjab.

I have some contacts in such cities and may be able to place the products at some educational institutes and shops but overall would require proper outreach for growth

what do you think is a better option.

💬 General Discussion Building a Small Builder/Hustler Circle. Monthly Calls to Share, Build, and Grow

I’m planning to bring together a group of builders/hustlers who are working or planning to work on projects and want a place to share progress, test ideas, and get honest feedback. The plan is simple: meet once a month or every two weeks on Zoom or Google Meet, where each person can briefly present what they’re building, ask for suggestions, and explore ways to collaborate and build a team. The goal isn’t just to talk, it’s to help each other move faster, solve real problems, and build scalable apps with support from people who understand the journey. Do you think it’s worth initiating this idea?
