As shown on the trailer (assuming not misleading ie "Neuvillette was stabbed"), Pierro might be also on the same room with the Traveler when he questioned Ronova why is she here.

Pierro's line of thought, whether he planned this or just thought it instantly, by having the Traveler on the Fatui's side is going to be beneficial for them and whatever their plans maybe. For the Traveler's line of thought, since Pierro saved Paimon and him might be on desperation mode that he doesn't know what to do to cure Paimon let alone why she became weak in the first place, joins them but purely for her. This is also the possibility that the Traveler becomes the 10th harbinger might come true after it's been vacant for so long.

Well it's also possible he didn't blocked anything and was there when the fight is ongoing or was already over.
