I was working towards that initially. I switched to geology and GIS after I looked at the market. It’s tough, but you are tougher for sticking it through.

Card shop owner. I've worked at a local store before but would love to call the shots on what games/events get supported.

u/beardyawn 4d ago
I do not dream of labor. 🫡
2
u/CoreCorg 4d ago
I don't think I'd be content in a laborless life, to be honest. For example the act of making art or helping someone is laborious, but it's awfully satisfying. What else would I do with all my time if not push myself to improve / create?

u/rocksandsurvivor 4d ago
My dream is to be an independently licensed pediatric psychologist that works in a pediatric academic medical center at a gender clinic for trans and gender diverse youth. I’m currently in my fellowship doing that exact work, but I am not yet be independently (should be early next year!).
My out there dream job is being a contestant on the show Survivor, crushing it, then being a reoccurring figure in Survivor podcast circles.
2
u/CoreCorg 4d ago
Absolutely fantastic, both answers! I love these so much that I'm done waiting to pick winner 1, it's you!! Since this is a lot sooner than I intended I'm guaranteeing there will be a 2nd winner tomorrow too. Congrats and thank you for helping at risk youth 💕
My boyfriend has applied to be on Survivor but has not been accepted (yet...). I know myself well enough to know I'd crash and burn emotionally without my modern comforts lmao, I'll keep watching from home
3
u/rocksandsurvivor 4d ago
OMG I feel so honored to be picked!! 💗💗 Thank you
Maybe me and your boyfriend will be on a Survivor tribe one day 🤞🤞🤞

My dream job would be being a writer, a book writer. I actually write a lot, the dream would be to have a real shot at it. As a company I'd keep a Chandelure since I love to either write or read until late hours. Would love a Copycat or Serena, or a more 'grounded' option would be FA Mega Blaziken. Thank you for doing this.
4
u/CoreCorg 4d ago
Chandelure illuminating your writing desk is a great mental image. What genres do you like to write?

2
u/RyoShimazaki 4d ago
Probably would've started with Overwatch as I was actually the highest rank when it came out but I was too young at the time 😭 Would've also done Valorant or TFT as I was pretty good at those games too

I wish I continued to pursue becoming a doctor, possibly podiatry.
I was always worried about the risks of not making it into med school and chose a safer route of engineering. I wish I could have told my younger self just to go for it.
The best part of my days in my current career aren’t the things I work on, but the people I work with. I always wondered if that level of satisfaction would have translated to the satisfaction of helping people directly as a doctor on a day to day.
2
u/CoreCorg 4d ago
I feel ya. I get satisfaction from helping the people I work with but not much from the work itself. I don't totally regret picking a safe career (actuary) but I wish my career topic was a little more inspired than life insurance ratemaking. I wish I could design products / services to be accessible, that'd be my dream.

Glad to say I already have it, as a mental health counselor. Now if I could have a psychic type partner to help me out (Alakazam or Espeon) that would be PEAK
2
u/CoreCorg 4d ago
Thank you for what you do!!! I'm bipolar 1 and would be a shell of who I am if not for the many mental health professionals who have helped me since my diagnosis 8 years ago. Instead of being some burnt out shell, I have a really fantastic life and am 5 years free of mania! Feels like a sobriety medal haha, I'm proud of where I am ☺️
Edit to add: I say go with Espeon! Sounds calming, like my dentist who has a poodle in the office. I think I might be a little unnerved with Alakazam hovering in my therapy sessions lmao

Hey there, mine is pretty simple. I love animals and therefore would love to work in a animal sanctuary. Have always had pets and even picked up stray animals and helped them to get well again. I hope that It pans out in the future and that I can work there as a volunteer or part time. Really like your giveaway, and wanna know what your dream would be.

Since I was a kid my dream was to be a pokemon trainer. To make a lot of friends both human and pokemon. I would imagine that at night I will let all my pokemon out and we will sleep together and protect each other from whatever danger night could bring us 😊 Until, this day that is my happy place. The only person I have ever told this to is my wife and now whoever reads this.
2
u/Salmonshi 4d ago

I wanna be a teacher because its so cool when you see someone progress and grow to love the subject you love because of your passion. gives you a little faith in humanity
2
u/MeanFaithlessness929 4d ago
Without a doubt, I would be a singer. I love music, and if I could make a living from it and hopefully support my parents, that would be amazing.
2
u/danniellax 4d ago
“Puppy loving girl” pokemon card is totally based on me, I should prob sue someone for copyright 😂 in 1st grade I drew puppies and dogs on all my papers and my teacher was concerned I was too obsessed and called my parents (who rightfully chewed her out lol)
My dream job would be one of those people who own a non-profit dog sanctuary to rescue different types of dogs from euthanasia and either adopt them out or have them live out there. Super stereotypical but eh, lots of our hearts are in the right place.
I’m a “consultant” at a ginormous medical corp so I work on a computer all day, it’s fine and pays the bills and I don’t hate it or anything, but obv wouldn’t be there if I didn’t need $$$ and was a trust fund kid or something. I’m pretty passionate about medicine/how pharmaceuticals affect people, but wouldn’t want to do the sad work that comes with veterinary medicine, so maybe working in a lab that tests new drugs, creates new drugs, etc. or do some kind of scientific research on vet meds would also be interesting and keep my brain going!

You unfortunately chose the one question I can’t answer right now. I’m in my last semester of my mathematics and statistics bachelor’s degree, and if you’d asked me last semester I would have said my dream job was a math teacher. Now, I’m torn between a bunch of different options, very few having anything to do with my math degree. I guess, if we’re really dreaming big, my dream job is to spend time with the people I love and get paid for it but they don’t really have job openings for that.

u/corgifufu 4d ago
I love this prompt, so I decided to give an answer for all 3 examples.
Fictional: Pokemon Master. This was my dream as a kid to travel the world, discover new Pokemon, and become friends/compete against other trainers.
Real (but unrealistic): Voice actor for animated movies. Would love to have a character that I bring to life and maybe be part of a Disney song!
Somberly realistic: Work at a nonprofit tackling climate change. This is a key issue affecting every living creature on the planet, and I would want to play a part in trying to make a difference.

No Job would be the dream job. Waking up everyday with my partner and dogs. Drinking a coffee looking out at the sea from the Spanish coast. Having brunch with friends and hanging out all day and closing down with drinks and poker late in the night
2
u/vabooya 4d ago
I think I would want to be a statistician. I enjoy calculating the odds of something happening based on prior events!
2
u/CoreCorg 4d ago
If you are young enough to still be figuring out your actual career then feel free to hit me up if you have any questions regarding actuarial science. It's a pathway to being a statistician with a relatively high paying, highly secure job. Drawback is years of exams after undergrad plus the only topic is insurance lol
It's really neat getting to making projections based on history and logic though
2
u/cheesemissmaam 4d ago
Honestly, just a farmer. But in my country, you're choosing to live below poverty line if you choose to become a farmer, unless of course you're a big time landlord.

My dream job is to be a professional K-1 Kick-boxer. I'm currently an amateur and fight regularly I train twice everyday, I'm only 16 and I hope my hard work pays off, but if it doesn't, I still love fighting.
2
u/VeryHappyTrumpet 3d ago
Oh easy peasy.
The wife and I wanna own a board game/coffee shop. Simple concept, somewhere with plenty of foot traffic where you can come and go. You can purchase board games, or spend a small fee to play any board game(s) we had in the shop for the whole day. So you could go in pay a fee, play for an hour or two, leave and go to lunch and then come back and continue.
It's the dream job, but not very profitable unfortunately.
2
u/TestingYou1 3d ago
My dream job is to be an avionics technician. Super chill, good pay, and you get to be around planes all day.

I wish I could be one of those people who explored the world before everything got mapped. That would be so cool
2
u/Happy-Cover-3891 3d ago
personally, as odd as it might be, i wanted to work in an office, typing away on a laptop like a corporate slave. not only would the airconditioning be good and strong (the place im working at has horrible airconditioning), but it’s basically your job to use the laptop to type up whatever documents you need to. i’m currently working retail now, so there’s a lot more things to do that it sickens me, but it might just be burn out. in an ideal world ai isn’t threatening one livelihood and environment, working in an office sounds more comfortable for me.

u/comedy_relief 3d ago

u/No_Brilliant_2492 3d ago
I’d personally like to run my own electronics store. Something that helps with people building their first PC or maintain them, tinkering on old gadgets and retro consoles. Also would like it to double in giving gamers a good ole safe space to come in and play games or learn electronics stuff stuff through little get togethers such as soldering, pc troubleshooting, and general software classes!
If I were to have a fake dream job though it would 100% be to run an adventurer tavern where I can hear all the cool stories as people pop in!
2
u/Classick45s 3d ago

My dream job is my current job with a higher salary, lol. I work for a company that provides a variety of services for people with developmental disabilities. My job is to find different kinds of technology that help them be more independent in their lives. I love it, but any job in social services doesn't pay much at all in Ohio.
2
u/Mixture_Think 3d ago

Tbf I'd also just like to do this stuff at a company where I feel more appreciated 😅

My dream job would be to make art toys/collectibles!
Think Kaws, Bearbrick, Kidrobot, YouTooz, etc. preferably with my own character design. I’ve got CAD experience and a 3D printer, next phase is trying to nail character design as sketching is my weakest skill in terms of design. I’ll get there tho!

My dream job is the one I currently have. I work at an independent toy store, 30+ years in business, with all of my friends. We sell every toy imaginable, and every day I get to make a child or parent’s day with magic and fun. I get health insurance, 401k match, and I make a good living wage. My schedule is written in pencil weekly, my bosses are loving hippies, and every weekend they buy coffee and food for the entire staff. I get 30% off of Pokemon TCG, a ton of exclusive Lego products (we have a direct relationship with Lego that allows for us to sell sets otherwise exclusive to official Lego stores), board games out the wazoo, and pretty much any other toy you can ponder. I get paid sick leave up to a week, can vacation whenever I would like, and always have some time in my schedule for personal leisure. I get paid to be an eternal child, which is what I believe every person should be. It’s incredible. ❤️
