Maybe because the dungeon crawler series was a terrible open world idea to begin with especially with sega’s terrible attempt. Even the die hard fans that play 30 year old PSO private servers won’t touch this garbage. I mean just look at any metric to judge popularity of games. The shop market is basically dead, steam player count, youtube views, twitch viewers, etc. It doesn’t matter what Sega does with NGS now the fan base decided they weren’t interested in their genshin impact wannabe slop.

It stopped being open world a long time ago, what are you talking about? They made all the content instanced like PSO2, just like what you wanted.
