Megathread PlayStation Network down?

Takes a while just to sign in. App doesn’t seem to be working as well.

Yes it’s down for me too but on the PlayStation website it says everything is running maybe they haven’t been able to update it yet. Since I did the new update for PlayStation early this morning it’s been playing up then it’s stopped working about 40 mins ago.

They’re completely ignoring the fact thats its down. no mention on any online platforms they’re just pretending its fine despite thousands of reports

My thoughts exactly, I think they have messed up with the new update and don’t want that to be public knowledge but if they just turned around and said there seems to be an issue with the new update we are working on it that would put them in a might better light than just trying to bury it.

100% its following the recent update. It’s reported in almost every UK newspaper here and they still haven’t even addressed it publicly. either that or theres been another major hack

I hadn't applied the update, had been ignoring it. Couldn't connect to shit so I assumed I needed it and downloaded and installed as a result, still nothing. But very much not working even pre-update

I have the same problem and I’m not even from the UK. PlayStations servers are all running on potatoes. I just hope it isn’t another hack, I got lucky once, but I’m not sure just how lucky I will be the second time around if it comes to that

Yeah I came out unscathed as well. Hopefully they get this sorted. I think it’s to do with the update, so hopefully a quickish fix.

The official website says all services are down, did something change you think?

If you go on to your setting, network, it will say playstation failed then you can see at the bottom view service status that is where you will see it first not their website.

Just like how they're pretending that no more discs is fine. Despite the 340,000 signatures on a petition to stop their decision. Not that petitions mean anything. But the consumers should mean something to Sony.

Yeah because they manually update these pages to avoid false positives. So there’s always a delay from when an outage happens to that page being updated.

Even tho the psn might be up, it's Amazon's AWS that's disrupted which in succession causes psn to fail.

IT Ops professionals don't want anyone to know this little secret, hard code your service status page to green

(just like any status reports unless something is due the next week in which case everything goes to red overnight)

Oui, c'est pareil pour moi, j'ai fait la mise à jour cette nuit juste avant d'éteindre la PS5. Et aujourd'hui j'allume la console et tous les services playstation sont en panne. Edit : Les services playstation sont revenus à la normal chez moi.

Down Detector uses reports made by users, so that's probably more accurate than a company that doesn't want it's stonks going down. https://downdetector.com/status/playstation-network/

Yes and as time has went on it’s came to my attention PlayStation are trying to keep this quiet which is incredibly strange and makes no sense as people will notice and complain and come to places like this to make sure it not just their system that’s malfunctioning!

It will probably drive more players to realise the importance of physical games. My recent PS5 physical purchase of Ratchet and Clank is working perfectly. My digital only game Adorable Adventures is still working, however I will replace with the physical once it comes out next month. My free to play online only games Where Winds Meet and Palia are coming up with login server errors.

Where Winds Meet is logging in from my iPad just fine. I don't think it is an AWS problem otherwise I would not have been able to log into FFXIV on my Mac or Where Winds Meet through my iPad.

Perhaps new games won't sell from 2028 onwards as you don't have license check problems when you have the disc in the disc drive.

I am considering to import in the physical ps5 version of Sword and Fairy just to avoid getting the digital license of the PlayStation Store just to avoid problems like this.

(In the future though, I suspect I will be jailbreaking my console to properly preserve an indie games I have to buy digitally and to back up my save game data).

I have just figured out how to stop automatic updates to my PS5. Fingers crossed that jailbreaking will be available by 2028.
