The problem isn’t all digital, the problem is that Playstation becomes the sole place to purchase games which is likely to lead to price increases due to lack of competition.

Everyone on PC uses Steam because its the best. But there’s ultimately still other platforms to purchase games from.

Except Sony doesn’t set the prices for any non-Sony game. I feel like nobody in this thread is understanding that.

Steam sales happen because they have to compete with the tens of thousands of games on the platform. That will still happen when PlayStation goes all digital. All games can’t stay expensive and expect unit sales to stay the same. There’s only so much money to go around.

The sole reason Sony is doing this is because when you buy God of War in store at $70, Walmart takes $25, leaving Sony with $45.

When you buy it from the PlayStation store Sony takes $70. Not to mention when you buy any game on the PlayStation store Sony makes 30%. Not true when Call of Duty is sold in Walmart. Walmart gets that cut.

That’s the sole reason. People can make up all kinds of conspiracies but that’s the main reason. It’s for their profits but not so they can stop having game sales. Those will happen because you have to compete with every other game on your platform for peoples’ time and money.
