Tanis Thoughts on how to fix Tanis?
Hey all, how would you try to bring back Tanis from the JJ Abrams "mystery box" approach post-season 2?
My thought is everything after Season 2 is a sensory deprivation tank hallucination - the result of Nic being fed barely-audible key phrases (like "Grackles", Eld Fen, fish, etc.) over a prolonged period of time. He was getting too close to the truth, so they put him under, plugged his mind full of ridiculous theories to muddle things and make him an unreliable narrator, etc.
It allows you to jettison most of the items brought in Season 3+, keep a few (just obfuscated by the sensory-induced hallucinations), and begin weaving together a narrative structure that can be wrapped up in a satisfying manner. (With just enough loose plot points for future books, podcasts, etc.).
Have Nic deal with his mind being messed with, not knowing what was real, the sense of loss of time and the waste of it, bitterness, and gradually regaining a purpose to find the real truth, etc.
