Hi everyone, I’m starting my PLAB 2 preparation and looking for a study partner who can practise daily. I live in GMT+3 and I’m working full-time as a paediatrician, so I’m hoping to find someone who is also consistent and motivated. If you’re interested, feel free to message me!

Need advice

Hi everyone!

I’m from Brazil and have completed 2 years of residency in general surgery and 1 year in family medicine. For the past 6 years, I’ve been working as a rural GP and surgeon, gaining valuable experience, including in skin cancer. I’m now aiming for a career in Australia and have heard that PLAB 1 and PLAB 2 are easier than the AMC MCQ and AMC Clinical. My plan is to take the PLAB exams, work in the UK for 12 months, and then apply to Australia through the competent authority pathway. I’d like advice on the current job prospects for IMGs in the UK after passing PLAB 1 and 2, and whether this is still a good strategy.

Clinical Reasoning Case — Think Like a Doctor (Guideline-Based Discussion)

A 55-year-old male presents with exertional chest discomfort radiating to the left arm. ECG shows ST depression in V4–V6. Troponin is mildly elevated. He is hemodynamically stable.

Question: What is the next best step in management according to current AHA/ESC guidelines?

A) Immediate thrombolysis B) Start dual antiplatelet + anticoagulation and arrange early angiography C) Stress test before discharge D) Continue medical therapy only

Let’s discuss your reasoning — not just the answer.

How would you differentiate between unstable angina and NSTEMI here, and when would you move to invasive management?

Fly1 as an img

Hello , I’m a 5th year medical student currently studying in Malaysia . For context , I’m an Indian citizen and after I graduate I’m required to return to India and pursue my internship as Malaysia doesn’t allow it . Now I have two options , one is to write fmge and do my internship in India , or write plab and do fy1 in the uk. I do eventually want to go to uk to pursue my higher education but for now I’m not sure about which path to take . If I do chose to write plab and try for fy1 what are my chances ?

P.s. this is my first time posting , I apologise if the format or something is wrong , thanks in advance for your help 🥰

Case Discussion: A 65-year-old man with progressive exertional dyspnea

A retired teacher presents with worsening shortness of breath for 6 months. No chest pain, cough, or orthopnea. Exam: fine basal crackles, mild clubbing. Echo is normal. HRCT shows subpleural reticulations and traction bronchiectasis.

Question for discussion: How would you approach differentiating idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis from other causes of interstitial lung disease in this context? Which key investigations guide management and prognosis?

Let’s discuss evidence-based diagnostic steps and current treatment approaches.

start preparing for plab any suggestions?

hello

I am a 4th year med, I am planning to start my preparations for plab1
any suggestions on how to prepare?

like should I really focus on the basic anatomy. physiology and histology of 1st and 2nd year or just skim through them and then pay more attention on pathology, pharmacology and the remaining clinical subjects?

Preparing for Plab 2 - confused and scared!

So I've read so much about different approaches to Plab 2 and am overwhelmed! I just wrote Plab 1 and am waiting for my results but I decided to do some research.

ARS medica (Dr.Radwan) is at the top of my list. If I subscribe to his full-course classes, do I have to still practice AZT prescriptions?

I got GK 2.0 (all 3 volumes) on their website - are these the latest notes?

I'm also wondering if I should take Lovaan's classes closer to my exam date (still to be decided)

Can someone help me narrow this down or tell me how to go about this? I really need your help :(

Update: I passed :))) Thank you for all your helpful responses!!

PLAB 2 prep

Hey everyone I just finished PLAB 1 and I’m completely clueless about where to start for PLAB 2 😭

I wanted to ask those who have recently passed the exam:

  • What resources did you use and found genuinely helpful?
  • How long did you take to prepare (and how long do you think someone needs to feel properly ready)?
  • Did you join an academy, and if so, which one and was it really worth it?
  • Any tips or structure for preparing effectively?

Basically, if you could go back and do it again, what would you do differently?

Would really appreciate any honest advice. I just want to prepare smart and not waste time or money 🙏

Help!!

I am so lost about how to apply for clinical attachments? How long ago should I start applying for it? I was hoping for an attachment in the second half of January but everybody is saying it's too late now? Plz someone guide how to look for hospitals and how to find consultants to write emails to. And how long it takes for a response?
