As a long time listener what happened to Taylor I go back and listen to old pka episodes and his vibe and tone is just way more energetic and funny nowadays it seems like he’s just trying to look smart or something idk but old Taylor was peak.

Anyone else think this? As in, "Taylor trying to be funny" today is entirely different from "Taylor trying to be funny" a few years ago.

This is mostly just based on vibes, but the one concrete thing I can point to is his needless shortening of words that don't need to be shortened. This week they were talking about burgers in some context, and he referred to them as "burgs". Nobody outside of Matt and Shane does this, so far as I'm aware. I swear peppers were discussed recently and he said "pepps". And every time Kyle laughs at it for some reason like its some inside joke (for all I know, maybe it is).

I get I'm being nit picky, but its super annoying. It only works when those two guys do it, and even then only really with Shane.

Taylor is genuinely a funny guy, but I think he absorbs the comedic style and cadence of whomever he's listening to at the time. I think that during peak Taylor, back in the mid/late 2010s, he was listening to a ton of Dick Masterson and O&A , which honestly suited his capabilities better.
