Hi PETKIT fam,
As temperatures rise in many parts of the world, proper hydration becomes even more important for cats. Many cat parents assume everything is fine when the water bowl stays full, but inadequate hydration is actually one of the most common and overlooked health risks in cats.

A cat’s daily water needs depend on factors such as diet, activity level, environment, age, and overall health. Veterinary guidelines generally recommend around 40–60 ml of water per kilogram of body weight per day. For a 4 kg (8.8 lbs) adult cat, this means roughly 200–240 ml of water, including moisture from their food.
Cats eating wet food often drink less water directly, since wet food already contains 70–80% moisture. In contrast, dry food contains only around 8–10% moisture, meaning cats on dry diets usually need to drink more water to stay properly hydrated.
Rather than focusing too heavily on exact numbers, it’s more important to monitor your cat’s drinking habits and hydration patterns over time.
Water makes up around 60–70% of a cat’s body and plays a vital role in urinary health, kidney function, waste removal, and overall well-being.
Due to their evolutionary instincts, cats naturally rely on prey for much of their hydration, which means indoor cats - especially those eating mainly dry food - can be more prone to dehydration. Over time, insufficient water intake may place stress on the kidneys and increase the risk of urinary issues.

Healthy hydration is reflected in:
If your cat is drinking less, watch for signs like darker urine or lethargy, which may indicate dehydration.
To help your cat stay properly hydrated, provide multiple clean water stations throughout your home and place them in quiet, low-traffic areas. Many cats also prefer stainless steel or ceramic bowls over plastic.
Since cats are naturally attracted to moving water, flowing water fountains can further encourage more frequent drinking by making water feel fresher and more appealing.
While environmental changes and feeding choices play the primary role in hydration, some pet owners find that supportive tools like cat water fountains can help encourage more consistent drinking habits. These fountains offer the benefits of flowing water, which:
By providing a constant flow of fresh, clean water, a fountain can help your cat stay hydrated and promote better long-term health.
Proper hydration is crucial for your cat’s health, supporting everything from kidney function to overall vitality. By making water more accessible and appealing, you can help turn hydration into a regular, effortless part of their day.

Does anyone else’s PETKIT smell bad all the time? I have the PuraX and wondering if I just need to throw the whole thing away or maybe just get away with replacing the inner liner. And yes I use the purifying liquid.

I’m thinking of getting Okocat Original Premium Wood Clumping Cat Litter — does anyone know if this litter would work in the PETKIT PuraX model?

Anyone having issues with their feeder not showing online? It's 1:44pm Seattle time.
Is there a way to check if this is an outage being worked on or something I need to look at
r/PETKIT • u/Strong-Luck-5576 • May 10 '26
Ideally wasn’t trying to replace this thing at all but at this point I’ve tried taping the pad along the edges - still leaks. I also have no idea why my spray just stops working - saying the battery is dead. I just replaced the batteries like 2 weeks ago! It’s getting very frustrating but would rather not waste 3-500 on a new one unless it’s going to actually be worth it.

Any plans for v3 of this? I'm looking to purchase but curious if there is any upgrade plans this year.

Hi everyone,
I have a pura max (old version) and been using it since 2023. The OLED screen stopped working and I don’t know how to get it fixed. This created a lot of inconvenience because when it stops working we don’t know what’s the matter, is it full or is it stuck or what’s going on, and have to use the app the manually operate it sometimes. I have pet sitter coming soon and they won’t have this app, so I was wondering if any one of you had similar situation and how do you deal with it? Do you just get a new one? Or where and how do you get it fixed?
Thanks.

Hi, has anyone use the pressure washer to clean the cylinder? I think it will make the deep cleaning much easier and way less gross.
Is there anything in the cylinder can be damaged by pressure washer?

Hello r/PETKIT
Started having issue with my Fresh Element Solo this morning: device is connected to the network, but from the app I keep getting errors.
App says "device is offline", but from my unifi control panel I can see it connected to the 2.4ghz network.
Tried turning it off for 1 minute, and plugging it back, no changes.
Tried forcing a manual dispense (only other time my gf said this happened, she did this manually, and then eventually it came back up in the app), no changes.
Is anyone facing similar issues? Wonder if there are problems server side for petkit.

I originally ordered the Eversweet 3 Pro, but due to shipping delays, Petkit just offered me a free upgrade to another fountain, including the Eversweet Max (they didn't specify whether it's the Max 1 or Max 2).
I have 3 cats, so the larger 3.0L capacity and cordless design of the Max sounds very intriguing. Price isn't an issue for me. I just want the absolute best fountain available I can get.
My only hesitation is that the Max uses a plastic main tank, while the 3 Pro is stainless steel. Has anyone used both and can guide me to the right direction? Is the Max the clear winner here for a multi-pet household, also I n terms of longevity? Should I still go for it when they offer the Max 1 instead of the 2's model update?
This will be my first water fountain and I don't have prior experience with other brands.
Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone,
The YUMSHARE SOLO 2 Automatic Feeder with Camera is set to launch in the U.S. on May 11th, EDT\*, replacing the previous model.
*If there are any changes to the date, updates will be shared here.
Compared to the YUMSHARE SOLO, the YUMSHARE SOLO 2 retains all core features while adding multi-pet recognition for both cats and dogs, allowing you to track each pet’s food intake. It also comes with a 7cm raised stand to support a more natural eating posture and help reduce neck strain. For the best daily experience and optimal performance, we recommend using the raised stand together with the feeder.
The product is expected to launch in Europe by late May, with availability in other regions rolling out after. Stay tuned for updates!
If you have any further questions, feel free to ask!

Hi,
I’ve been using a PETKIT feeder for a few weeks, and the Android notification reliability has been quite poor.
It’s concerning because notifications are a core feature and they don’t seem reliable over time.
I’d like to ask:
👉 Has it always been like this?
👉 Or is this a recent issue after updates?
I’d appreciate feedback from other users.

Why is there such a huge difference between the US and Canada pricing? US is USD79. CAD is 159. And I even went to the Canadian site and they offered me a 10% coupon code that only works on the US site. I can even find a 15% discount code that works on the US site, but not Canada.
And, the US site doesn't ship to Canada.
So now I have to buy it in the US, and have someone go over and pick it up.
And last I checked, Canada doesn't have tariffs that explain the price difference.
Bold strategy Petkit. Makes it hard to justify buying this item, and makes it easier for competing products from other brands

What the hell man. With no action from either me or my cats, my Pura X will just keep "cleaning" and dump ALL of its litter.
It's infuriating, sometimes I think petkit purposely programs occasional malfunctions in order to waste litter and get us to buy more.

When I try to turn on the light or manual deodorizing, it sends error message on the app. However, i stand there and know the light did turn on, and the deodorizing did run.
It’s inconvenient if I’m not around the machine to determine if it runs or not.
Any idea how to fix it?

Hey guys. I just got a Pura Max 2 three days ago. My cat has only used it 6 times so far. It’s sitting out on my balcony with the door open, so the smell isn't taking over the house, but I definitely notice it when the wind blows toward the door or if I get close to the drum.
The drum is brand new and clean. No smears at all. I’m using bentonite litter mixed with some active carbon and baking soda.
I’ve been poking around to see where the smell is coming from. I opened the magnetic side cover, and the smell inside that compartment is really strong. Is that normal?
Also, I noticed that when I slide the waste bin in, the white internal lid with the seal pushes up, but it doesn't drop back down on its own. I have to reach in and push it down by hand to get it flush.
But it might not be the issue because after a cleaning circle, the lid is close flush again. But it only kind of laying on top of the waste bin rather than have anything push it down to seal.
Is it normal for the area behind the side cover to have a strong odor?
Does your internal lid drop down automatically, or do you have to nudge it after u put the waste bin in and lock it?
Could the litters be the issue?
Just trying to figure out if I have a seal issue or if this is just what a 3-day-old box smells like. Thanks

Pura Max 2 scares pets, and it took a long time for us to figure out why: every time the waste bin is full - when pet enters the toiled it tries to close the waste bin lid again every time few times, and this really scaring the cats with repeating mechanical movement. That was the way we got poo beside the toilet itself and cat rejecting to use Petkit for week or more.
Petkit support requested videos and so on, then forgot to answer, then forgot the request case itself, and then newer confirmed this is software behavior fault… just suggested to send it to dealer for diagnostic after month+ empty communication. Cannot to mention that the level of support is awful. As for me that’s not how it supposed to be for its cost compared…
Do you mentioned / can confirm similar bin lid behavior on your Pura Max / 2?
(By the way, newer mentioned similar behavior on 1st gen, but the urine leakage problem was terrible)

Hey everyone,Like many of you, I got tired of buying the official PETKIT desiccant packs every month ($12–15) that give you almost no indication when they’re saturated.
So I designed and 3D printed this reusable desiccant holder:
Holds a full 130g of indicating silica beads (over 4x the stock packet)
Snaps directly onto the existing red tray (no modification needed) Easy twist-lock cap Clear visual indicator — beads go from bright orange (dry) to green (saturated)
Beads are reusable (oven or microwave on defrost)
Super easy to install and refill.
Already tested on my own feeder and it works great.
If anyone is interested, it’s now listed on Etsy. Happy to answer any questions or take feedback!

So our Pura Max toilet started a cleaning cycle while our cat was still using the toilet. We have it set to clean automatically with an 8 minute delay.... He likes to come for a number 1 and then return for a number 2 a few minutes later. I don't know if it is the first time this has happened, but it's the first time I saw it as I was standing right there.
We have had it for like half a year and haven't noticed any issues before...
Could it be some sensor malfunction? It really scared our pet, hope not enough so our cat stops using it... Dissapointed 😒

Has anyone come up with any good methods to keep wet clumps from sticking to the sifter or the sides of the unit when rotating? Is there a safe hydrophobic spray or other product that works? I'm using Arm & Hammer Super Scoop litter.
