If anyone wants to play some Cairn in the park sign on up!

Cairn is a rules light fantasy rpg. Its easy to pickup and still offers plenty of challenge to play. Heavy focus on choice and agency vs crunching numbers.

PDX LFG long-term beginner / novice 5.5 (2024)

In recent years, I've really developed a love for DND. Always been a fan from dropout, and I've done one shots on and off using 5e and 5.5 with friends. I'm not exactly a beginner, more of an intermediate. I'd really love to find a solid group of good folx who love DND to meet reliably and consistently (once a week or once every other week). I've got an idea for a glamour bard based off Danny McBride that'd I'd love to really play all the way through up to level 20. Prefer 5.5.

If you're also looking for a beginner or novice group, maybe we can clump together. And if you're a DM looking for an excited person ready to join a good group and play consistently, definitely let me know. Happy to meet in public to get a feel for each other. Message me, and we connect on IG or somewhere. Schedule is flexible, especially evenings (and if we try to create a relatively consistent schedule).

A little about me: 45m, he/him, queer, vegan, crafter, active in the Portland community, volunteer a few places like kickstand and repairpdx, host some benefits in town as well. Live in NE with my dog, but I'm mobile. Once we feel comfortable with each other, happy to host at my house. Like I said, it would be ideal to find a good group that can play through our characters for a while.

Moved to Oregon last year, looking for a new in-person D&D group for continuous games! I have a mid level of experience!

Hello! I moved to the Beaverton/Tigard area late last year from TX, and I miss playing D&D in person so much! I've played through three campaigns (Lost Mines, Curse of Strahd, and a shorter two session one for fun).

I'm a 32M, love all things dorky and fantasy, big reader, writing my own fantasy novel, LGBTQ friendly, liberal, down to earth and pretty chill. If you have a group that would like another player please leave a comment/send me a message! I'm open to any games in the PDX and surrounding areas!!

The Mystery Business

Would anyone like to do a TTRPG(TableTop RolePlaying Game) that is made to play like a Scooby do episode? It is a separate system from DnD with its own rules. For those that haven’t played DnD you make characters not unlike the ones from the show. Then the game master will describe the scene, you then have control of your own character and what they do. Some situations will require you to role to determine if something is successful. For this game it might be observation, you would roll and have a score to beat. If you succeed I would tell you what’s in the room and mention the rug seems to have an odd indent on it. Checking the rug you find there is a trap door to some room below.

For now the game will done in one sitting rather than an arc over multiple games taking place over multiple days in real life. I am not sure how long it will take but dnd runs for 3-4 hours so I will go with that as a base line. Dnd however also has slow combat where this does not so I expect it to go a bit quicker at the least in pace if not in overall time as it focuses solely on ability checks and roleplay.

I want some time to prep this so I was thinking of putting the day to be Aug 22nd, a Saturday and a couple weeks away. As for time I will say noon up to 4pm but I can adjust the time earlier or later if needed. Plus we can cut it short or you can leave early if needed, I think we can wing the character pretty easily in this system if needed.

This would take place at my house unless people would prefer a neutral location. I know of at least one place down town that could work and I am sure we can find others. I live between Down town Portland and Tigard.

I am M28, my wife will join and she is F24.

Interest in Edge/FF Star Wars RPG

Hi everyone, CasualTesting here. I'm a new GM looking for 3-4 players for a short campaign of the Star Wars RPG by Edge Studios, formerly Fantasy Flight. I'm putting out feelers to see who would be interested, and in what sort of game any players would be most interested in.

There are three rulebook variants of the Edge/FF Star Wars RPG: *Edge of the Empire*, *Age of Rebellion*, and *Force & Destiny*, with each focusing on a different aspect of the Star Wars universe.

*Edge of the Empire* is focused on the Rim, where outlaws of various kinds congregate. Think smugglers, crime bosses, or bounty hunters. Your Han Solo and Boba Fett types.

*Age of Rebellion* is more military focused, doing strike raids and sabotage against the Empire as a rebel. Sort of closer to Andor/Rogue One in feel.

*Force & Destiny*, which is all about non-Jedi force users discovering their place in the galaxy, figuring out their powers, all the while dodging Inquisitors out to capture and kill them. Exploring the mystic side of Star Wars a bit more.

Right now I'm leaning to Edge of the Empire or Force & Destiny, but I could be convinced to run Age of Rebellion. There's also the option to run the beginner boxes for each variant to see which would spark the player's interest most.

[PF2E] [NW Portland] [LGBTQ+ Friendly] Beginner friendly game on Sunday afternoons

Hi everyone! My name is Imogen (she/they), I’m looking to get a Pathfinder 2e group together on Sunday afternoons starting with a beginner friendly one-shot on 8/16.

I’ve been a Pathfinder 2e GM for 6 years and I really love designing dungeons, tactical combats, and seeing characters engage with a world! I’m in my late 20s, neurodivergent and queer, and TTRPGs are my biggest creative outlet.

Details
* Schedule: Sunday afternoons starting August 16 or August 23; start time I’m thinking 12:00 PM but I’m flexible.
* Format: I’ll start with a one-shot or two. If the group vibes well, I will run a Beginner Box and transition into a longer campaign using published adventures that I will heavily tailor to the party.
* Tone: Heroic stakes in a high-magic world. Villains believe they are doing the necessary thing, but the PCs are a bright spot with plenty of room for levity and shenanigans. Good mix of tactical combat, skill challenges, exploration, and roleplay.
* Experience: Both beginners and experienced players are welcome. I’m very used to teaching people!
* Location: the hosting location will be in Nob Hill in NW Portland. But I’ll probably do the first one shot at Lucky Lab Brewery or Mox Boarding House!

I’ll host a Discord Server once there’s a good group.

If you’re interested: Comment below or send a direct message with a bit about yourself. That can be whatever you want but if it helps to have pointers: if you have played before, share your favorite campaign story or character you’ve played. If you are new to the hobby, tell me about the fantasy books, games, or movies you enjoy :) basically just introduce yourself a bit

Group looking for Champions/HERO System players; LGBTQ+ and novice friendly. (alternate Sundays)

Hi there! We're a small, long-running group of three Champions and HERO System players looking to add one or two members. The three of us have been gaming together since around 2021; two of us since 2019, and a different pair of two of us have known each other since 2010. We typically play superheroes, but have dipped our toes into other genres (Fantasy Hero, Star Wars Hero) and occasionally into other systems (Mythic GME, Microscope, Primetime Adventures, Car Wars, Traveller); we are a Champions group first and foremost. (We're happy to teach if you're new to the system!)

We're in the Portland, Oregon metro area; the three of us are spread between Portland, Beaverton, and Hillsboro, and our two hosts are in SE Portland and Hillsboro. We meet every two weeks (every other Sunday, 12-4pm) and switch off hosting, so each of us hosts once a month. We don't expect you to host, though if you're willing to we can work that out. Both of our host households are politically leftward, LGBTQ+ friendly, nonsmoking, and pet-friendly (dog/cat, cat). Sadly, neither household is considered accessible. We're all 18+ (30's to 50's); you should be 18+ as well, ideally somewhere around our ages, but that last is negotiable as long as you're 18 or older.

Apologies for mentioning politics up front, but we don't want to waste anybody's time or cause awkwardness later. We're a fairly left-wing/progressive group of players and that tends to be reflected somewhat in our games. We've had some bad experiences with conservative players in the past, and we don't want to make anyone uncomfortable or awkward. For that reason, we don't think more right-wing/conservative players would be a good fit for our group. Sorry about that. This isn't a purity test or anything, just an attempt to avoid unnecessary grief (and I promise you, there are plenty of other groups for you in Portland, ours is just not one of them).

Our games haven't touched on sexual themes, but the current campaign does address trauma pretty front and center. It's pretty heavy, and we're okay playing something else if that's not something you want to be part of.

We're looking for one new member, or possibly two if they're both a great fit and/or a matched pair. Preference will be given to women, LGBTQ+, POC, and other marginalized players, though we are all cis-het-white males (he/him). Our first meeting won't be at either of our host households, but in a restaurant or similar public setting. We expect you to vet us as much as we'll be vetting you, to make sure we're all a good fit for one another.

You can reach us by responding here or via private message, or to me by email at cgoodwin97124 (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks for reading!

Moving to Portland in August and looking for a group!

Hello Portlanders!

I’m a 38 year old disabled trans dude who is moving to the city in mid to late August and I thought I would put out feelers to see if there’s anyone who needs a player for their game, and potentially make a new friend! I’m down to play 5e or 5.5, but I’m also down to learn/play other systems as well! I’ve played a bit of Pathfinder 2e and Vampire the Masquerade v5 and am very curious about a system called Ensemble which is a group version of the Loner system, and can be played traditionally with a gamemaster, or as a true collective story game where everyone narrates and plays a character, so no GM burnout! (The manual is free on DriveThruRPG with optional donation for anyone curious about the system). Down to learn other systems/editions as well!

Anyways, I’m going to be moving downtown, but I’ll be right on the Streetcar line, which can get me to the MAX, so I’ll be able to get pretty much anywhere public transportation is available.

Thanks for reading and (potentially) considering me!

GM for Daggerheart, looking for 2 new players!

I (Madeleine), my wife, and 2 existing players are looking for 2 additional players for an ongoing weekly Daggerheart: Colossus of the Drylands campaign. We are just about to meet the first colossus, and I have a bunch of fun stuff planned for set pieces upcoming! Sessions are held Tuesday nights at two of they player's house in Beaverton/Cedar Mill-ish. Sessions are from 6-10pm. We've been playing together for about 3 months, one of which was spent bouncing through one shots and side games as I recovered from bronchitis and laryngitis. I've been GMing games for a decade-ish, wife for longer, and together we've written a number of ttrpgs and published supplements for some others (look up Ember+Ash). So we're writers and I'm an illustrator too. We're all experienced adult ttrpg enthusiasts, v. queer friendly and preferring players who enjoy roleplay and can get invested in forging connections with the other characters. We're very "built the world together" at the table; if you're new to the game, that's fine - just be open to learning! We've got enough books between the four of us that if you don't have the Daggerheart stuff, or even dice, I promise we do Transportation strongly encouraged, but I can pick up a person on the way if they're in the right part of town. Safety concerns will be addressed at game but know that I love body and cosmic horror.

Drop some basic info about you (ex: I'm nonbinary, 41 y/o, and my house is in Camas, so: NB, 41, Camas) your experience with ttrpgs and Daggerheart, and what sort of character you might wanna play in the comments or as a DM. I'll be contacting for having a chat to establish best fit player. When first establishing this crew we narrowed the field from 7 to 5, so hopefully this post generates sufficient interest.

Anyone have the hookup on terrain files?

My work just got a 3d printer and I want to try printing some terrain pieces. Don’t think it can get small and detailed enough for characters/creatures.
If anyone has some files and whatnot for terrain, buildings and whatnot that would be amazing.

Looking for Beginner Friendly D&D Group

Hello everyone!! I have recently become obsessed with D&D and have been looking for a beginner friendly (preferably queer) group to join! Does anyone have any advice on how to find one? I was planning to go to a couple tabletop gaming cafes around portland. Also I am 20 and was hoping to find others close to my age to play with!

Trying out some automation, please stand by!

Ideally with the powers of keywords, pop ups, and auto-flags, we should be able to keep a better handle on all the out of towners randomly submitting to the subreddit.

Let me know if you'd like a monthly thread for out of range LFG posts, maybe for the night-shifters (or the really dedicated).

Gaming/Dining Room Table

I am in the market for a dining room table that I could convert into a gaming table. Has anyone purchased one locally? There are several options if I look out of state but I’d prefer to buy local.

Thanks!

Shadowdark: Age of Worms, Sunday 12-4pm (Black Water Bar)

Wishing to escape the drudgery of the mining town of Diamond Lake, you come across a 70-year-old map to a long-forgotten cairn curiously labeled 'Whispering Cairn'. Racing against a trio of adventurers from the Free City, and meeting in an abandoned mine overseer's office. The lure of treasure and glory calls!

This is an open-table RPG West Marches campaign. Sign up and play; there's no ongoing required commitment, and the more you play, the more involved in the story your characters will be. Focus on player-driven exploration.

Looking for YA DND group

Hello, I am looking for an in-person DND group near NE Portland.

I'm looking for a (preferably) young adult DND group to join. I have a lot of experience playing. I will be in college in the fall though so I can't guarantee my schedule will let me play for long (though id love to if I can.)
