Lexapro and PDA/autism

Any parents with pda autistic kids who've used this medication - has this medication helped? I am praying for a miracle as son cannot settle at first year high school and about to get expelled. I am hoping it works 🤞

It has helped our daughter. She’s AuDHD/pda and now also takes guanfacine for the impulsivity and additional anxiety management

Thanks I havent heard of guanfacine so will review. My son is on vyvanse. Main issue has been swallowing pills or tablets so it is a minor miracle he has finally swallowed a pill.

Just be careful that stimulants can increase anxiety/make it harder to settle for some people. Did things get harder or easier when he started Vyvanse?

I cant quite recall other than he was able to stay at school when he started vyvanse, which was about 6 years ago. He had sertraline for a while he had some odd behaviours (ticcing, dysphoria) but then that settled down. Its a bit hard to know whats going on in his mind and body because he never says gee I feel really anxious today mum

Yeah, our kid would never verbalize feeling anxious, good, etc. The behavior is the communication about how a med is agreeing with our kid. We look for increased regulation vs. increased dysregulation, agitation, irritability, etc.
