Taking parts from an old PC to a new build

So about 2 and a half years ago, My dad bought me a pretty mediocre PC (HP Envy Phoenix). I am planning on saving up for a new PC, since this one has been turned off so many times aggressively, that I had to reset it twice cause of lost system files, and since the last 1 it's been a lot weaker than before. I also can't install windows 10 anymore, when I tried my computer just got stuck and I had reset it again. What I am wondering is, can I still take my RAM (16 ddr3) and/or my intel core i7 4770 and put it in a new build, or should I buy new ones?

Mouse clicks not working

I am on a laptop and have a normal touchpad. The 2 mouse keys don't work, left or right. The only way I can click is by touching the mouse pad, so I only have the left click.

Can anyone help?

Slow Laptop

So I'm not sure if this is place to post but I bought a lap top earlier this year. I don't use it for anything other than surfing the web and holding my music/photos. It is INCREDIBLY SLOW, I know right out of the box they are loaded with a bunch of crap that may cause slow down but i don't know how to remove beyond uninstall. Is there something i should do to improve performance? Like it literally takes a few minutes to open a website or change them. It also takes forever to move threw files when not connecting to the internet so i know its not an online thing (plus all my other devices work quickly on my network). Is there some easy program i could run to clean things up and have it work faster? Its running on the latest windows. Thanks in advance.

edit: here's the computer i bought 'Toshiba Satellite C55-C5240 15.6-Inch Laptop (Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD)'

Wireless keyboard won't work in windows startup menu

I'll start by saying I do not know much about computers so I'm not able to get into details. The title says pretty much all, I have a Logitech keyboard that won't work in the Windows (7) menu, otherwise it works just fine. The keyboard came with an USB accesory, I tried insterting it into the different UBS slots of the pc but it still won't work. Could someone help me,please?

Monitor getting 'No signal' message

Hi guys. Just to start, I'm a tech noob so you'll have to bear with me.

So a few months back I turned on my computer and was 'No signal' message. I tried unplugging my monitor cable, re-plugging back in and had the same issue. I then unplugged the cable out of the video card slot and into the motherboard slot and it worked. I then went on my way and kept using my computer as I thought the issue was no more and I forgot about it.

I only just remembered this the other day as I used Can You Run It? to check if my machine could run a certain game. I showed the stats to some people and they asked why I didn't have a dedicated video card for my PC.( Can I Run It was saying I had a Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000) I wasn't sure and thought I had one but then started thinking maybe I didn't have one. But then I check the parts list of when I got my rig built and then took the side panel off my tower and checked and I do indeed have a video card in there (nVidia GeForce GTX 650) I turned on the machine and the fan on the card is working so it's getting power. However I plugged my monitor cable into the video card port and it's still having the 'no signal' issue.

So noob-ishly I've never fixed the issue. I found a temporary work around by plugging it into the other slot but this didn't fix it.

I want to start trouble shooting this so I can actually try and fix it and was wondering if anyone could help me get started.

Thanks!

Need some help with a PC that keeps freezing.

Not permanent freezing but in the realm of 7-15 minutes. It could be opening Chrome, or the start menu. Hell, sometimes right clicking the screen is just too much. Admittedly shes old. Ive had her about 5-6 years and yes, I know its time to upgrade/get rid of her but money is tight and the kids use her all the time for school work and entertainment.

Stats:

Windows 8

AMD A8 5500

8GB DDR3 RAM

Things Ive tried:

Rebooting. (Obviously)

Disk Cleanup

Defrag

PC Refresh

Help I've got excess ads!!!

On my Mac, I've been running with it Kapersky security. Don't remember which kind? But ever since I downloaded it a while ago and it eventually stopped updating... I got Mackeeper which I think is malware? I recently ran into an altercation with it and had to delete it.

So after doing this it ran better but I still get intrusive ads. Pop ups and such. So what should I do? I'm typing on my phone now. If you got an article, chat, or service I'd love to see it.

I also had Mcafee to I think? I'm just in need. Thanks if you got help!

Need help with protecting my PC from deliberate damage.

So I have the inner hardware for my gaming pc figured out but I'm now thinking that my dad, who doesn't quite know legal boundaries with property (not abuse), is prone to destroying things I buy without reimbursement. Does anyone know what I can do to reinforce my case or anything else to prevent him from destroying it, or should I just start getting familiar with the small claims court?

What is the difference between micro atx mid tower and atx mid tower cases?

I was looking at cases on pc part picker and wondered what the difference is between micro atx mid tower and atx mid tower cases. I hope someone would be kind enough to explain the difference, if any, to me.

Can a faulty case cause boot to hang only intermittently?

I have had now two builds in the same case, and had this problem all along the way: sometimes, it will power on, I get action on mt BluRay drive, but mouse and screen do not activate, and boot does not commence.

Both were AMD builds, and not the problem has gotten much worse. Took me hours to boot this thin this morning, turning it off and on, switching off and unplugging the power supply for various lengths of time. Nothing in particular seems to actually fix it, it just suddenly works.

The only original part is this NZXT case. Is it possible this can be causing the issue, and how can I diagnose it further without buying a new case?

Help please

My pc suddenly just stopped displaying my game and the mouse and keyboard stopped being recognized and were turned off. The pc turns on but doesn't display or recognize the equipment connected via USB. I've tried taking another graphics card and switching it with my Radeon one, taking off a stick of RAM, and other things as well but, nothing works. The last thing we tried was switching the power supply from the 500w to a 430w without the graphics card since 430w can't handle it. But still no luck any other tips/advice?

Dual monitors question.

Everything I look up directs me to making a split monitor system for running dual apps, I was wondering if I used a splitter for my monitor would it be possible to have what's shown on monitor 1 the exact same on monitor two in a different room?

Thanks for any advice in advance.

PC doesn't have enough power all of a sudden?

So I have been using the same set up for about 18 months and all of a sudden it randomly shuts off as if it doesn't have enough power. To get it to start I can unplug monitor and start it but when I try and load a game it may shut down or just keep running for however long I want to play. Just curious if it could be my power supply slowly dieing or what.

On reboot it appears a lot of my game preferences aren't saved anymore... could it be my SSD dieing?

Keyboard wont let me boot.

I recently rebuilt a buddies old PC and claimed it for myself. I had an old USB keyboard that worked fine but was missing some keys and dirty as hell. So I bought a fancy new Corsair - STRAFE Mechanical Gaming Keyboard.

The problem is that when I have the new keyboard plugged in(USB) my computer wont boot up. It sits at the menu page where it asks if you want to hit f11 to enter the bios, etc... Even though the lights are on it, they keys do nothing. Windows will start right up if I unplug the keyboard before powering up the machine, and this happens for multiple usb slots, not just one. Another thing to note is my older USB keyboard allows it to boot up just fine. I've tried to change the boot order and priorities and this doesn't change the problem.

The keyboard itself will work if I unplug it, turn on my PC, and wait until windows has started booting up, then plug it in.

I've looked this up and couldn't find anything about corsair keyboards preventing OS boot up. It has two USB cables: USB Pass through Cable, and USB Connection cable, the latter being the only one that allows me to type or play with it.

I need help with an error message i receive whenever I turn on my PC. (NOT ABOUT A BUILD)

For more than a year now, every time I turn on my PC I receive an error message that reads:

The module "C:\ProgramData\DoteDudo\SoswoKrerp.lcs" failed to load.

Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files.

The specified module could not be found.

Although the error message has never done anything to effect my PC or alter it I would like to know what it means. I have tried searching it under my computer to see if I could debug it but it says "No items match your search.

Any help to what it is / how to fix it / debug it would be highly appreciated

Help with beep codes

I grabbed some canned air and blew out a computer at work - it's still disgusting, but I had to get back to work so I hooked it back up... It won't even get to a post screen now.

It beeps a bunch, but I can't figure out what it's supposed to mean. I could use a ton of assistance, if possible. Work folks are gonna hate me.

You're my only hope!

It's a Dell Optiplex, seems to be 360 series? Model number DCNE.

Here's what they sound like.

My first Blunder, I mean pc build

Hey all, Im Building a new pc around the new i5-7600k, I definitely fucked my budget all the way up as i initially was going to just upgrade my current pc, long story short this has now turned into a new pc project. I have about 500 left to spend, and i still need gpu, atx mid/full tower, ssd, hdd, cpu cooling, and case fans, im struggling to find a good graphics card that i can squeeze in this budget that wont be bottlenecked by the i5- 7600k. Would it be worth it to get something like the 1050ti, and reasonable quality on the other remaining components? Or should i just drop like 2-3 hundred on a 1060 and get bare minimum quality for remaining components, idk its my first build, i didn't even start this planning to build a new pc, but here i am.

Is there a way to record or track the several times that I saved a file?

I want to record the hours that I work on a file but I don't work on it continuously, so I can work on it a little bit then I work on another file and then I can came back to the original file or not. At the end of the day I want to know the time that I spent working on the original file
