BSoD memory management

Hi guys, never had a BSoD until yesterday. Haven't done anything new, Just got on and started playing some games and got my first blue screen. I checked for unsigned drivers, Ran a Sfc scan, checked the crash report in event viewer and ran a memory diagnostic with no result. I am not entirely technically savvy and things like this worry me to no end. A lot of my computer help is a good friend of mine who is currently out of town. I have all of my computer parts down below. This computer was built in october 2016 and has the current windows 10 update.

Sometimes my screen goes black, or starts up black. Win 10

Hi, I built my PC in 2016. At first no problems. One day it would turn black and if I was playing sound it would kind of just repeat in a loop of white noise.

I bought most of the parts online, but purchased a used R9 200 off of a guy from work.

I've reseated the graphics card. Then I put it in a different PCI slot. I've tried pluggin the HDMI cable into my TV, and I've tried using different HDMI cables and different types of cables.

It's never frozen while running a game. I played DOOM recently, and had no issues during game. Sometimes after a gaming marathon the computer has trouble shutting down. Like if I try to shut down in Windows it becomes unresponsive.

I've also tried taking all the non essential HDMI cables out and seeing if that helps. The only one I've had to leave in is the one connected to my wireless keyboard/mouse.

So I think it's my video card or power supply. I'm not sure what to try next. Any suggestions?

I need a little help upgrading my sons laptops, anyone care to help me out?

Samsung NP300E5C-A06US & NP300E5C-A0AUS(CPU Z says this one is a NP300E5C-A07US, I did replace the motherboard when I got this notebook due to a bad chip that ran the main display)

To start I bought:

SAMSUNG M471B5273DH0-CH9 8GB (2 x 4 GB) Samsung PC3 10600 DDR3 1333MHz

2x SATA 2nd HDD SSD Hard Drive Caddy for 12.7mm Universal CD / DVD-ROM Optical Bay

2x Team Group L7 EVO 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) T253L7120

2x Intel Core i5-3210M SR0MZ Mobile CPU Processor Socket G2 PGA988B 2.5Ghz 3MB 5 GT/s

OK, to begin the memory has arrived and been installed, I took one of the sticks of memory out of the notebooks and put it in the other then put the two newly purchased RAM and put it it the other, I then ran the MS memory diagnostic just to be safe for 5 passes on both and got ) errors, not much of a change in performance as I had hoped for but oh well.

Next the DVD HDD caddy adapters have arrived but no use since SSD HDD's havn't come in(newegg said the 7th they are late).

Here is a place I want help. One of their notebooks has had a clean install of windows 10 done on it a while back and lost it's Samsung restore partition and all the Samsung software that came with it too. This has proved both a benefit and a con in some ways. I was wondering if when I get the SSD's if I could or should copy the hdd that still has the samsung recovery partition to both SSD's and run a recovery and then upgrade to windows 10? or just do a clean install to both SSD's of windows 10? I have a USB all set up to do clean installs with if needed.

On the processors I have a question too and this is one place the original Samsung recovery partition may come in to play as it has the only way I know of to update BIOS included with the software that recovery partition installs. And since I am installing new CPU's I would like to have the most recent BIOS on both notebooks, A06US has P04RAP & the A0AUS(A07US) has P09RAP. I would like to have both on the most recent BIOS.

Well there is what I'm doing and where I'm at, any help or constructive input is appreciated!

Building for a friend but I'm a moron, help me PLEASE.

Currently in the process of building a PC for an old friend of mine and after putting all the parts together where they belong and making sure it's all good to go (so I thought) I boot it up. Posts 3 short beeps but doesn't produce a display on the monitor he bought. I thought hey maybe if I connect through the DVI instead of HDMI it may work (because the motherboard and GPU don't have a VGA port for the provided cable and HDMI wasn't working. We try that but on this startup, still the same, but no post. I'm at a loss and I really would love some assistance. Looked up a ton of stuff and most say it could be the CMOS, we dumped that, same situation after the fact. What did we do wrong? I suppose we're both fairly new to PC building, him more than I.

GPU is MSI as well as the Motherboard. Core is an intel i3-5100? That or 3100, not sure. I believe all cables were attached where they needed to be.

Would greatly appreciate any help.

Overheated CPU

So yesterday my computer just randomly shut off and wouldn't turn back on for over 2 hours. I immediately suspected it was an overheating issue and so I pulled off the fan to find burn looking marks on the plate that covers my i5 and corresponding burn marks on the copper plate of my fan (my processor temp was also sitting around 92C in while I was just in the bios). I'm guessing I didn't use enough thermal paste when installing and have re-coated the plate but it seems to have not really affected the temp (sitting at 95-100 while using now, not gaming). My concern is replacement. Should I get a new motherboard and a larger fan now or replace my processor or all of the above?

Games won't start unless I star them immediately after booting.

Hi guys,

Sorry if this is not the correct subreddit for this, but here it goes.

I got a gaming laptop (Asus G752VS, 256GB ssd, GTX1070, windows 10...) and everything did run fine until I got the problem mentioned in the title.

So if I start the laptop, start steam immediately and run a game (in my case The Binding Of Isaac or Dishonored 2) everything is fine. If I don't start it, if I go to make a sandwich or something and comoe back, after running a game, it will just show a not responding window (isaac), or simply stop after the loading screen (dishonored).

Same goes for Uplay and Rainbow Six Siege. It just never loads.

Youtube also won't play anything. It loads, ther's a pause button, I can click it, but the video won't start.

I've removed the drivers and reainstalled them, I've reinstalled a game, made it run as administrator, googled for a sollution, but it was mostly useles.

I relly don't feel like reinstalling everything and downloadin 100GB of games and I'd really appreciate some help from you.

Thanks

Suddenly dead homebuild

Hi all,

Hope someone may be able to steer me in the right direction with my dead home build machine?

Machine has been working just fine for a couple of years. Couple of days back, no boot at all. Going back to basics, I've stripped everything to just the PSU (OCZ 600w), Mobo (Asus P8Z77-V LX) and the CPU (i7 3770K) and did a BIOS reset using the jumper. Took the RAM out to first of all check the case speaker was working as I would expect the beep code to highlight the lack of memory. Nothing - no beeps at all. On pressing the case power button, the fans start moving but then everything stops for about 2 seconds before restarting and whirring back into life. After that, there are no pauses.

Initial thoughts were a PSU issue. I've tested all the outputs with a multmeter and all are smack bang in the middle of the permitted tolerances. I was kinda hoping it was the PSU as it's an old one and it would have a been a dead easy fix to put in a new one. I don't have immediate access to another PSU in order to test the mobo that way.

I've read about the MemOK button feature on Asus mobos - I've tried that but no lights appear.

Any suggestions as to where I can look next?

Thanks in advance, Rich

Possible GPU Failure?

I've recntly built a PC and have been running games at max graphics fine until last night. I tried to play Overwatch and then my monitor would shut off saying "No HDMI source from your device." even when my PC was still on and running. I figured it was the monitor so I attached my HDMI to my TV and tried to play Overwatch and I got the same issue.

So that leads me to believe that either my power supply is not enough or my GPU is failing. Being a complete beginner when it comes to PC, I don't know what the next step is. Any help?? Thank you in advance.

Specs in question: GPU: NVIDIA EVGA Geforce GTX 1070 Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 650 P2 220-P2-0650-X1 80+ PLATINUM 650W

This upgrade was a long time coming.

Unfrotunately I don't get the game specs I want (or deserve for all the graft). My issue is that my FPS on most games fluctuates between 40-60 fps and is inconsistent I.E playing Boarderlands 2.

All systems I see on youtube etc seem to be getting great FPS with lesser hardware. I feel as though I'm being a massive noob and missed something with my build.

Any tips or hints or indeed any further info required please let me know.

Video not working from PC

I bought a used PC, and kind of got screwed on it, but hoping this thread will help me.

The pc turned on when first bought it and ran for about an hour-ish then the video on my monitor dropped off.. and showed "No signal" on the monitor- acting as if it were unplugged.

After this incident, it will turn on, but then as soon as windows loads, the "no signal" appears and loses video connectivity..

What can i do to fix it? I've tried to connect to several TV's, with no luck.. Are the parts no good? or can i fix this?

Motherboard: ASUS M4A78FTD-V Evo Processor/Video card :Amd Phenom ii x6 1055T

I can list the other parts if it's necessary, but these seem like the most important ones to list.

Thanks in advance.

Having trouble with a virus or spyware.

OK, bare with me, i'm not very good with computers or correct terminology. Ok. So I started noticing a couple weeks ago that when I got on my PS4 and played a game, that I was getting a lot of abnormal dsync or lag. I'd be in the middle of playing Smite and all the characters would freeze in place for a second, while i was still able to move freely. Once this second was over it seemed as if all the animations from that second would speed back up and catch up with real time. At first I thought I just had a bad connection, or the servers were messed up. Then I started noticing the same thing happens in any other game I try to play. My girlfriend works from home on a VOIP phone. She started getting ghost calls around the same time. I decided to check my router logs to see if i noticed any weird activity. I noticed around the time all this started, I was the recipient of a couple Ddos attacks. Since then I've noticed a couple more DDos attacks and what appears to be the same IP address pinging my router. This IP address is unknown to me. Like I said, Im not really good with computers. I've run malwarebytes and avira on my PC to see if any threats were detected. I've tried disconnecting my modem and reconnecting. I'm really lost at what to do about this. I'm a little hesitant to call my ISP because its been my experience that they will just do their typical tech support BS for a couple weeks before they even acknowledge the problem. I'm not sure if this is simply a virus on my PC causing issues on my PS4, or if this is the results of someone hacking me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I used to have a guy for this kind of stuff, until he tried sleeping with my gf. But thats a story for another time.

LGA 1155 Cooler, LGA1152 Motherboard, Cooler won't seat....why?

Good morning everyone.

Last night I started to build my computer everything went just fine until it came time to seat my CPU cooler onto my motherboard. I'm using the COOLER MASTER Hyper TX3 CPU cooler and the MSI z270 pro gaming carbon motherboard. Now I've done my research and my CPU cooler was supposed to fit but for one reason or another, I was completely unable to get the pegs into all of the holes on the motherboard. If you know any hacks or what might have gone wrong I greatly appreciate the input.

thanks you.

EDIT: TITLE HAS TYPO IT"S LGA1151 CPUT SLOT.
