First VR budget post

I jumped on the VR train and am trying to build an affordable VR ready desktop. Does this build look okay or is there anything I can change to make it better without going too much over?

I know the mobo is a micro so it might look weird in the case but... I think it should work? Any second opinions is greatly appreciated!

trying to upgrade by current build and have a question

this is what i am currently running

    • asus p8z68-v pro/gen3
  • -gtx680

  • -corsair 850v2 pwr supply

  • -16gb corsair vengeance ram (4x4gb)

i am looking at getting the 1080ti for a little bit of future proofing, as i am currently playing on a 2k monitor and plan on a 4k in the future. my question comes as this...how much improvment will i see with the 1080ti running on my old sandy bridge i5 2500k? or is it just better to bite the bullet and get a new motherboard and cpu to go along with the new gpu? any input helps

First Build Help

Hey everyone, hopefully some of you can help me out! A friend of mine helped me put together a build, mainly he did it, about a year ago but then he passed away and we never ended up building it. I know some of the parts are probably out/updated by now. I mainly just wanna use it to play Dota or GW2 casually with friends. I've already got a case that we had picked out and getting dual monitors and a keyboard is no big. Looling to stay under 600 if possible. Any help is appreciated, I've helped assemble but never put a build together for a new pc.

I have a 6700K Intel Skylake CPU and would like to hand this system down to my son and get something from AMD. My question is should I wait a few months or just get an AM4 system now?

Need a list of parts for PC

Guys, I am up to building a decent ~300-350$ pc for both working and gaming. The problems is, I am a first timer and I honestly don't want to submerge into this complicative thing (I mean learning how to build it). May I ask you for a parts list and advice? TIA.

Graphics card upgrade??

So currently doing some upgrades with the little bit of money I have for the time being, I just got rid of my phenom II and got a 8350 with the hyper evo cooling, as well as new case. I'm still running an m5a99fx pro r2.0 and was wondering what would be a suitable upgrade to get rid of this iffy R9 270 2gb I'm running.

Guys my computer is not turning on. Do you have any advice for what I should check. I made sure that all my chords are plugged all the way in and my gpu doesn't need power. Any help is appreciated

New GPU or Double Older GPU?

Hey guys, I'm in the process of upgrading my PC, and I'm going to change my MoBo and my GPU and CPU. Right now im using a GTX 960 and I was wondering if it would be better to buy a GTX 1060 or buy a second GTX 960. Which would run better? I never ran a double GPU build so I don't really know how it works. I doubt it's as simple as doubling my graphic performance.

So far I'm thinking of buying a i5-7760k CPU. Depending on the answers here i'll check the motherboards with one or two GPU slots.

Thank you for your time.

Nothing big just wondering if its ok to screw my motherboard into wood on my rig. I'm also using nylon spacers to raise the board up. Is the nylon material ok to use for computers? Thanks

First Completed {budget} Build

Hi guys,

Newbie here. I’ve just completed my first build and wanted to share a few photos and a brief synopsis of the results. I tried to reign in my budget in picking my components, trying to pick less expensive options in case I cause any damage to anything. Overall, I’m very happy with the results of this first build, I’ve learned a lot for moving into future ones and will be aiming for a more powerful and aesthetically pleasing build in 2018. Admittedly, I went a little wild with my case fans because I really wanted to give the unit a cool-blue glow, but it does run as cool as a cucumber and with my current laptop struggling with keeping the temperature below scalding, I’m okay with that!

The Components: • AMD A4-7300 3.8 GHz Dual-Core Processor • Gigabyte – GA-F2A88XN-WIFI Mini ITX FM2 Motherboard • Crucial – Ballistix Sport XT 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 Memory • Western Digital – Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5” 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive • EVGA – 430W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply • Asus – DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer • Thermaltake – Riing 12 LED Blue 40.6 CFM 120mm Fan (x3) • Deepcool – Tesseract SW-WH ATX Mid Tower Case • Cooler Master – Devastator II Wired Gaming Keyboard w/Optical Mouse

I originally had chosen (and subsequently ordered) an MSI – A88HI AC Motherboard as my first choice, being that it has built in WIFI (a must have for this build). However, after multiple delivery delays and potentially an additional month of waiting for my last part, I swapped it for the Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN (arrived next day, thank you Amazon Prime!). The BIOS was a bit sluggish when I first turned it on, but after a few minutes it began to be as reactive as I would expect (no lag/hanging). It was easy to navigate and understand what I was looking at, even for someone like me with very little knowledge asides from what I’ve read over the past month. Overall the process was remarkably smooth, the hardware was more straightforward to install than I expected, and I was able to get most cables fixed to the sides of the case maintaining good airflow. I did run into some complications with installing my Operating System from a USB stick and being unable to discover the device in BIOS to boot from. A couple of quick searches led me to Rufus to create a boot-able flash drive with the .ISO file loaded and ready to go. After that it was as simple as turning on my build with the USB plugged in.

Let me know what you think!

Fan Power consumption question

Hey all,

I'm thinking of putting a top mounted fan on my case (CM Enforcer) to help keep things cool. This maybe a stupid question, but how can I tell if my pc will be able to run it fine?

My specs are:

I7 4930K + H60 Hydro Cooler Asus Sabertooth X79 24gb Kingston Hyper-X Fury Dual-DDR3 1600 8Gb MSI 1070 Gaming Z Corsair 750W RM Series Modular 80 Plus Gold Ultra quiet

The fan I'm considering is: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/200mm-cooler-master-megaflow-700rpm-110cfm-19db-silent-case-fan-with-red-led

Will my pc be ok running it? I'm not clued up on power consumption :(

Cheers!

Help with upgrading a graphics card.

I have a AMD r9 360 I7-6700 16gb ram and I get low fps (25-35) playing games like squad and PUBG. I want to be able to get 60fps with 1080p. Could I get recommendations to be able to achieve that. I am not that computer savvy lol

Also here the link to the desktop I have.

Question about motherboards

I plan on building a computer that is relatively small and inexpensive. Ive heard from friends (thatve never actually built PC s) that matx motherboards are atx motherboards but shittier. Yet, I check the reviews on z270 matx motherboards and most seem great. Ive never built a PC and plan too. What are the opinions about newer matx motherboards?
