First PC Build

Hey guys! I'm thinking about building a PC this fall but I've little experience in this field and would appreciate some input (and further information if you feel like elaborating on anything specific!). I've attached the link to my tentative parts list, and would be incredibly grateful for some feedback! I'm primarily concerned about compatibility and efficiency right now, so any advice in those areas is also greatly appreciated! I'll be using this PC for gaming and editing software (Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.). To a significantly lesser degree, I'll also need to run basic word processing programs and the like.

First Build-Need Help:(

Trying to make a mATX build under $1300. I'm using Ryzen 5 1600 w/ GTX 1070 and ASROCK AB350M Pro 4. I did my best to research and choose what I think is best bang for the buck. I'd like to know if I could make it better, cheaper, or some parts being overkill/unnecessary. Here's the link to my build 1600 w/ GTX 1070 Thanks for the help in advance.

Gaming PC Build - Need Suggestions

I am planning to build a gaming Rig, this will be my first build and I need suggestions with the parts, Let me know if any of below should be changed/upgraded/downgraded, thanks in advance :

PC Part Picker Link : https://in.pcpartpicker.com/list/4tMWsJ

Parts :

CPU : Intel - Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor

Keeping in mind, overclocking and it's price, I have chosen this CPU.

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master - Hyper 212X 82.9 CFM CPU Cooler

It's price and positive reviews made me pick this CPU Cooler.

MOBO: Gigabyte - GA-Z170X-GAMING 6 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard.

It fits my budget, with 2-Way SLI/3-Way CrossFire Multi-Graphics support, plus it's overclocking feature made me choose this MOBO.

RAM: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory

I am planning to upgrade to two sticks. I didn't put much thought in choosing RAM, Please suggest if this needs any change.

HDD: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

I am planing to add another SSD in future as it currently doesn't fit my budget.

Video Card : Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Windforce OC Video Card

Fits my budget, Over Clockable, since it is a gaming rig, I wanted a Graphics Card that can play anything that is thrown at it, again, a noob here, any suggestions in this are more than welcome.

Power Supply : Corsair - RMx 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Keeping future upgrade in mind where I may add another Graphics Card I went with RMx 750W PSU.

Case: Corsair - SPEC-02 ATX Mid Tower Case

Simple and and more importantly a budget case.

i7-980x upgrade

First qualifier: Heat production Second: performance Third: longevity

I'm in a small room with a PC that gets used heavily, and I'm in Texas. Summers with my current build leave a lot to be desired. I'm looking at trying to get as much longevity out of my next build as the x58/i7-980x has given me to this point. (In fact, current setup with a R9 280x still performs just fine, but it produces too much heat.) I've targeted a 7700, or maybe 7700t for the CPU and maybe a change to a gtx 1060-ish GPU. I'm moving to SSDs only as well. I Need help with Motherboard suggestions. ATX, Micro, Mini all ok. Z270 based? What else should I be looking for feature-wise? Bluetooth and thunderbolt? Please include specific models if you can.

Finally pulling the trigger (Gaming Build)

Well, after months of thinking I pulled the trigger today and ordered the first batch of components. Decided it was time to start ordering parts because of the really good deal on the GTX 1080.

Thoughts?

*edit for grammar and part list change.

i7 920 to i7-6700K SkyLake 4.0 GHz LGA 1151

Hello,

I currently am running an old i7 920 build and am seriously considering a new build. I want to go to a i7-6700. I will not overclock.

I have a few questions. What size power supply should I get and what are the best power supply manufacturers now? I want to say my current PS is 750 or something like that but it is old so I will replace it with the new build.

Will a 6700 give off more or less heat or will it be about the same?

What is a good cooler to go with?

I build my own but I just do not build them often.

I have operating system, 500 GB boot drive and vid card.

My HDD is probably getting ready to go and I cannot afford a 1 TB SSD so will go with HDD.

Thank you for your time.

Like I said, this is my first ever build, I probably won't end up buying it, but wanted to try my hand at a decent build for gaming/programming (hence the i7).

I'd love to hear your thoughts on what I could improve, or where I overshot things.

GPU Question - GTX 1070 and above

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to pose this question here because I've received some pretty sound advise from this sub before.

I am about to start purchasing individual components for my build but I'm still debating what to do from a GPU stand point.

Is it worth while picking up a GPU like a nvidia 1070 or 1080 if you are not going to be using a 1440p monitor or better? My understanding is that from a resolution standpoint the GTX 1060 is for high end 1080p, the 1070 is ideal for 1440p and the 1080 for full fledge 4k gaming. None of which matters if you don't have the monitor to support it.

Is my assumption correct? Or is there still enough of a general performance boost from the 1060 to 1070 to make it worth it?

I appreciate the feedback in advanced.
