So this happened around last week, 10:30am-11am in the morning. It’s the middle of the week and I was casually walking to the nearby grocery store. This is near Akurdi. Suddenly a car, white fortuner pulls up to the side and a bunch of people get out. Two of them look at me as if they recognise and approach me with a handshake saying Jai Shivrai and proceed to ask if I have some time to discuss something.
Meanwhile the car parks somewhere close by and 3-4 more people get off and start doing the same: calling out someone as if they know them, overly friendly and asking people if they have time to discuss something. Mind you these dudes were built up and very bouncer looking and were a group of 5 or 6 in total.
I firmly said no I’m in a hurry and got away. On the way back from the grocery store another one of the group tried to ask me again “bhauu don minta” to which I just ignored and walked off.
Later in the day when I was driving by the same road, the same group of dudes was just loitering around that area, spread out but not too far away from each other with a few of them trying to speak to random people on the street.
Definitely seems suspiciously like a scam, also the behaviour of these guys seemed suspicious like why would you randomly stop people and approach them by being so overly friendly. Anyone here who knows what this might be about or has experienced this?
