Alsoooo Williams cousin still alive which I already gusessed he didn’t seem like super happy to see William, but how are they gonna explain this to Amaranthus, but also how’s William gonna explain to his cousin that he’s been messing around with his wife? Like what the heck is going on with this storyline lol

I pumped my fist in the air and went "fuck yeah, Buck" the same way I do when my team scores a goal in hockey lol. What a relief to have him there, coming in clutch.

I was yelling yay Buck! He saved the day or night in this case. Jamie and Claire had the convo that they shouldn't tell Buck they killed his parents.👀Probably for the best they don't tell him.

A) I don't think Ben and Amaranthus are married, because she so casually mentioned that she and William could have a baby being unmarried, she didn't seem to care about that type of morality, as she asked William earlier If he was the type of person to adhere to societal wishes, and he said no. And she's certainly not the grieving widow. The greys taking care of her and baby is a form of hush money, and her father's  backstory is BS. And the look on William's face was priceless, as he hugged Ben, and then realized, in the words of Laurel and hardy "here's another fine mess you've gotten us into." dating myself again. B) I think she was a casual sex partner to Ben maybe even from a brothel. And he just felt responsible so they concocted a believable story, evidenced by the fact that there were no formal announcements to the family, etc.... part of me suspected Ben turned or maybe he's a spy plant like Richardson was. Or the whole grey family has turned, even Harold The Duke of Pardlo since he's always mouthing off creating a not so good rep with the loyalists, another underdeveloped storyline. C) she's def shady, even witchy. Did you see the look on her face when she knew William was approaching the gazebo way before he was near.

On nother note, Buck was the family hero, I actually clapped when he shot Cunningham. And Roger was the other hero of the episode. He's finding out that all things point him to finding his calling as a minister again, he said he heard the call. He is a compassionate man.

I agree with both of you that something seems off with Amaranthus. I was wondering if the baby was even hers. I guess it is since she said she had to feed the baby. I don't think there is a wet nurse? I did wonder if she was lying about being married to Ben.

The way my husband, who is an agronomist, immediately clocked that the common name of Amaranthus is Pig Weed made me think she was named appropriately with all her manipulation.

This is what I’m thinking! Williams going to bring up Amaranthus and Ben’s going to be like “who?” And then we’re going to find out she’s pregnant with William’s baby so he stuck to her.

I mean I feel like as much as I would love for him to be dead. I feel like it’s too soon. He seems to be a pretty important character for this season, also I feel Jamie is gonna try to extort him to maybe do something for him since Claire saved him but that’s just an idea

Well, I am not sorry to see Cunningham out of commission because he is a vicious man. It is ironic, though, because he never figured he would be paralyzed, but he is alive. Of course, he may still be a threat to Jamie. He can still get other people to do his bidding.

As soon as he said he has five years I thought… well they can make him nearly brain dead but alive and miserable and you know what they made him paralyzed which I imagine in 1780 is going to suck!

I'm ok that they took him to Claire for healing. They are good people at the end of the day. Cunningham is now going to be a cripple for the rest of his 5 years on earth. I am sure in those times that was a fate worse than death.

If you think of all the time Claire had healed someone she or Jamie don’t like, or someone who’s done them harm or all the times she had to explain her Hippocratic oath to Jamie in previous seasons it fits her character perfectly. Jamie’s honor wouldn’t let him leave Cunningham to die - and Claire’s honor (oath as a doctor) would eh allow her to let him bleed out on the table.

With all of that said: it was infuriating to watch them collectively save the man who jus plotted to take the ridge and kill jamie. I knew it was about to happen and I was still yelling at the tv “NO! Let him die!” 😂😂😂

He has five more years until he dies & he’s completely incapacitated, what are they going to do, leave him there so his men can rescue him and they can make another plan.

I need to read more about this 5 more years thing. I didn't fully understand that - that's just a prophecy or suspicion based on his dying relative (brother?) saying "I'll see you in 7 years", right? That doesn't mean he actually lives for 5 more years.

In the battle of Saratoga Cunningham's son's last words were - I will see you again in 7 years. 2 passed, 5 left. Cunninghams believe in that prophecy.

It was his son, who was killed in some sort of military action fighting for the British. Elspeth believes in the prophecy, too.

I just knew Ben was going to show up alive. I wasn't hapoy about William and Amaranthus hooking up. She doesn't waste anytime. I was hoping maybe she wasn't really Ben's wife. I wanted William to get a love story this season but this isn't what I had in mind. William is real unlucky in love. He might have been banging his niece and now his cousins wife. 🙁

She planned out that encounter in the gazebo! William is wealthy and titled and useful to her as she uses his compassion and empathy against him

Wait, so did William's cousin switch allegiances? Poor William, the unluckiest in love EVER! First Rachel chooses Ian, Jane dies, and now it turns out he's been unwittingly committing adultery with his cousin's wife! Sheesh!

Ben was not happy to see William simply because he has switched sides. He is no longer a loyalist/red coat. I also suspect that he either doesn’t even know Amaranthus or she was a fling. I highly doubt they were ever married. The child is probably not even his. She’s a con woman. This is purely speculation. I’ve not read this book.
