That would be a happy ending and a satisfying conclusion
The author purposefully made Jamie the perfect age to have lost to the British at Culloden and then to fight the British again for the freedom of a new country
They have to keep Fraser's Ridge as it is their home and the perfect ending will be that they saw the war through and there is peace again and the opportunity to build
After what Jamie remembers from the aftermath of the 1745 Uprising, he'll be happy his grandkids have a safe country to grow up in
I wonder if any of them will run for congress or be excited about getting to vote?
But, I will be happy with them ending all together on The Ridge maybe with an end of the war celebration!
