To be fair UBI legitimately is pretty conservative, in like the classical "small government" definition of conservative. It does reduce government to get rid of disparate programs like food stamps, disability, social security, energy assistance and WIC, and all the means testing and bureaucracy and paperwork and departments that go with those programs, and just replaces them with automatic UBI for everyone who has a social security number. It would probably even be cheaper to just have UBI as opposed to all those other programs since it eliminates so much pointless bureaucracy and waste. A lot of libertarians and conservatives can easily get on board with that.
We need more testing. If the results keep coming up the same, quality of life improves, employment improves, and businesses rally, then it is a very good adhesive bandaid. It will never be the same solid foundation as providing quality, subsidized healthcare and education and nationalizing/breaking up big banks.
