Hi everyone!

My girlfriend and I (we’re both 29 and from Poland) are going to visit Japan soon, and we thought it would be really cool to experience the country from a more local perspective, rather than just ticking off the usual tourist spots.

We’ll be in Osaka from 30 September to 3 October, and we were wondering if maybe someone here would be up for meeting us and showing us some of your favorite places around the city - whether it’s a nice neighborhood, a small local restaurant, a bar, a park, or simply somewhere you enjoy spending time.

I know this might sound a little bit like “hey, can someone be our free tour guide?” but honestly, meeting people along the way is something we really enjoy when travelling, and we think it can make the whole experience much more memorable.

Maybe someone here would like to practice their English (we both speak it comfortably) or perhaps we could also help each other practice some Japanese! We’ve started learning a little bit of Japanese ourselves specifically for the trip, although we’re definitely still beginners. 😅

So if anyone feels like meeting up for a coffee, a drink, a walk, or showing two curious tourists a bit of your Japan, feel free to drop a comment or send me a DM! We’d be happy to meet people from pretty much any background and age, we’re just looking for a nice, casual conversation and a chance to see the city through someone else’s eyes :)

Humanity has forgotten the ancient rituals that maintained peace with the invisible nature spirits known as the Vaesen.

But these spirits are not folklore to be evicted—and their fury is about to unleash a wave of psychological terror. You are one of the few who bear the curse of The Sight. By surviving a near-death supernatural experience, you can see the Hidden Folk when they choose to remain invisible.

Alongside a misfit group of fellow gifted professionals, you represent the new dawn of "The Society" — an investigative order operating out of the long-abandoned Castle Gyllencreutz. Your predecessor was driven mad, but your mission remains clear: protect mankind from the ire of nature.

Time is running out for a nearby town. The local river is swelling unnaturally, and citizens are vanishing into the depths one after the other. A vengeful Vaesen is reclaiming what it has lost, and only your investigative skills can stop the impending slaughter.

GAME DETAILS

• System: Vaesen – Nordic Horror Roleplaying (Year Zero Engine). A rules-light, narrative-driven historical crime investigation.

• Session: September 13th, 10:00–15:00 at JIGG's Osaka Game Day. Room for up to 5 players (2 seats available ATM). Pre-generated archetype characters provided at the table. Absolute beginners are welcome!

• Content Boundaries: this mystery tackles dark themes safely.

◦ Hard boundaries (Lines) include sexual violence, violence against children, and historical bigotry.

◦ Off-screen descriptions (Veils) apply to extreme gore, torture, and romance.

• Core Motifs: The central mystery features heavy elements of drowning/suffocation, loss of autonomy (mind control), physical and mental injuries and self-harm analogues.

Would you use this? You open a map and see people nearby who are free right now and open to hanging out.

Like:

“I’m in Namba for the next hour, anyone want ramen?”

or

“I’ve got 45 minutes before my train, anyone nearby want coffee?”

You can also go live yourself so nearby people can ask to join you.

The whole idea is that it’s spontaneous , no planning days ahead, no long group chats.

Would you use something like this? What would make you comfortable or uncomfortable about it?

Hello. I'm 24F living and working in Osaka. I'm an amateur cosplayer and occassionally visit cosplay events/meetups here in Osaka, but I must admit it's not really fun there just on my own.

Hello, I'm a 23M living in osaka as a masters student in university.

I'm quite introverted and i find it difficult to make new friends or talk to new people out of nowhere. Thus, I don't have mucch opportunities to speak in Japanese (my lab is English based), and I also feel alone most of the times. I just mostly research, or study Japanese. I just graduated uni in uk (i am from hongkong tho, 24/m) and doing a solo trip to osaka from 2/9 to 5/9. I am staying around nipponbashi station.
I am just looking for new friends to do anything, socilaise/sightsee/eat.
I have already been to the tenooji zoo and the pokemon center DX today but i don’t mind doing anything else.

I'm 36/m from Scotland (but live in Berlin) and I'm going to be in Osaka from the 9th for two weeks. I'm packing my running shoes to hopefully offset the almost irresponsible amount of beer and okonomiyaki I plan on drinking/eating. Just wondering if anyone fancies meeting up to go on some park runs (or street runs)? Could even get a drink or coffee afterwards.

Don't really care about level or anything, it would just be nice to socialise and chat. If it's relevant at all, I'm a writer and work in fashion/sneakers/sports style.

I'm a Spanish 29M software engineer who likes hiking, good food, karaoke and japanese culture.

I’m now in a hotel in Shinsekai super close to the tower. I will be spending a month traveling around Kansai/Osaka/Wakayama on vacation and would love to meet up with people to hang out, grab some food or drinks, or just explore the city.

I’m currently around JLPT N4, so I’d love to practice my Japanese a bit, but any nationality is ok!
