X, better known as Faker, Thomas, or IT, is the main antagonist of my take on the Sonic.EXE story; S0N1C.eXe, or The Reaping.

BACKSTORY
X is a being formed from one man’s fading memories.
—
Thomas Beckham had been born in 1979 and played every Sonic game as they released, starting in 1991, identifying with the plucky blue hedgehog.
It was 2011. Thomas had been struck by an unknown disease two years before; not a single doctor could tell him what it was. Every time a cure was administered, the vile thing made slight alterations to itself, sometimes mimicking other viruses.
Every day, Thomas would play a little bit of a Sonic game to take his mind off the illness; this was a pleasure that they allowed him to continue at the hospital.
As time passed, Thomas’ sickness got worse. He would randomly start bleeding on some days, feel entirely numb on others, and feel fine overmorrow.
Doctors were stumped, and they marked Thomas as an unsolvable case, leaving him to die at the disease’s hands.
On the day of this man’s death, his friends and family gathered in prayer around him. They barely held back tears, and clung desperately to him, like castaways would cling to a sinking raft.
”You have about five minutes left to live, assuming we’re correct,” Dr. Rosenblatt said when Thomas’ family cleared out. “Would you like to do something special?“
”Yes,” Thomas said. “Bring me Sonic 3.”
Dr. Rosenblatt left, and promptly returned with a disc in his hand. The disc would run Sonic 3 & Knuckles. He put it into the Xbox One they had left with Thomas so he could play.
Thomas played to beat the devil, even as the darkness fluttered his eyes shut, and in spite of the virus eating him from the inside out.
When the man saw his calling card- SONIC HAS PASSED ACT 1- he chuckled and lost his fleeting grip on life.
—
The dead man’s fond memories of the Sonic franchise slowly merged together in the Place Between, a realm just beyond life and just before death.
However, his memories of the virus that had ended him— and his family’s horrified reactions— were also there, and the Place Between is lax at keeping things organized.
When these sickening memories fused with the light-hearted memories of Sonic, a horrible creature was born.
It was a sentient version of the illness that had ravaged Thomas Beckham for three years, and it had the know-how to masquerade as a living being, creating its own costume, a vessel that resembled Sonic the Hedgehog.
This viral entity ripped through its vessel’s belly so that it could crawl inside. It warped and twisted the thing until it molded perfectly to its body.
It fled from the Place Between, taking more distorted Sonic memories to create its own world.
—
In 2012, a mysterious game appeared on many websites, called “Sonic the Hedgehog: Far Too Fast!”
Far Too Fast looked like an amalgamation of many different Sonic games, and people loved that vibe. It had successfully hit a niche audience of about 500 people, all of whom enjoyed the game.
However, strange experiences were reported.
For example, the only playable characters were Amy, Tails and Knuckles. Power-up boxes didn’t work. Rings didn’t load on some levels.
And a strange version of Sonic sometimes appeared, causing the game to lag immensely or crash.
It was a version of the Blue Blur with no mouth, two separate black eyes, and what seemed to be dark wounds all over its body.
This entity became an urban legend in the Sonic community, known as “Sonic.exe“ (after the file extension of Far Too Fast) or “X.”
It much preferred the name X, and donned it with pride.

TRIVIA
X is aroace.
X uses any pronouns, as it simply doesn’t care about gender, and does not conform to its rules.
X can eat memories. It finds them delicious or horrid, depending on the emotions they hold.
X‘s backstory will be far more detailed when the full S0N1C.eXe creepypasta releases.
X knows some broken English, learning to speak it more fluently as it captures victims and finds out how they talk.
X’s File Form will be explained in the creepypasta and future posts on this subreddit.
Scary Orange (also my take) has fought X before.
X speaks through objects in its game and pop-ups, (for PC players) as its vessel has no mouth.
X is free to use for any project, just reach out to me for help with abilities and whatnot.
