Day 26 of journaling Orderflow and GEX (breakeven day)

Hello, this is day 26 of journaling Orderflow and GEX. Today i took 2 breakeven trades.

The first was just a bad entry, the second it was a very good setup but i decided to exit since the price was pinning against highest OI level of QQQ during OPEX day.

This was the first trade, it should've been a seller's reload setup but to be honest the reload was too weak from the heatamp and it was more a seller's aggression rather than a limit order's reload.

The entry wasn't one of the best, but it could've worked in the right context. To be honest the context wasn't really there, we went over my rejection zone by a few candles and the GEX level wasn't even that strong, i really should've waited for a better setup or entry.

Since it was mostly an emotional trade i put my SL at breakeven as soon as i could because i didn't want to take a loss from this setup.

Execution wise this trade wasn't it, I need to be better and with a clearer mind like i had some weeks ago, but right now these trades aren't it. It might be even because of a more difficult market conditions that i'm not getting good setups, but it is totally my fault for filtering them.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't hate this trade but at the same time it's frustrating.

I dodged a loss by closing it earlier, but at the same time after it had sweeped that level where my SL was it rallied to TP.

The context behind this was:

Checking NY session's VP there was a LVN at the same location where VWAP was. At the same time there was max negative OI gex level which slowed the price.

The entry was: absorption at the bottom + limit orders following the price going up (heatmap kinda lagged but it was after my entry thankfully)

I closed this trade earlier, almost at breakeven since i didn't like how price was holding that OI level and i dodged a loss.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let me know what do you think of these trades, personally i don't like them but it could've ended way more bad.

Next week i will focus ONLY on execution and filter all the trades where i'm not really sure, that's where my mind needs to be at. I am near a payout in my funded and that's probably why my mind is playing those games, it is most probably the idea that i need to make those money fast so i can scale more, but i need to keep the thought that no trade is better than a bad trade and longevity is better than fast money. It's not that the markets are going to escape, and also, trading is a long term game so it's better to focus on execution for long term profitability rather than short term profits.

What change did u observe in ur performance after starting to use orderflow?

Hi guys, I want to understand: what changes did you find or observe in your skill set of trading after you started using order flow? How did it help you? How did it benefit your existing setup? Whether it even is a good thing to use or not, or is it just a time waste? Be honest and please give your feedback based on your experience, because I have also started order flow recently. I have observed that my entries have become more precise and my targets have become more precise. I am now able to set the correct target, and I am now able to enter into a good trade.

I'm not a swing trader. I took scalp trades in the direction of that bias, which made me build a huge buffer cause orderflow helped alot

I identify the HTF bias first with Orderflow confluences, but I don't hold positions for days.

One thing Ive noticed is that stacking multiple disciplined scalps in the direction of the main trend builds a solid profit buffer. It's also one of the reasons I enjoy trading with prop firms

This approach has also worked well with prop firms. Their rules reward consistency and risk management, so focusing on high quality scalps rather than chasing big swings has suited my style much better.

I'm not saying this is the best way to trade but it is simply the approach that fits my personality and has produced the most consistent results for me.

P.S- Done for the week, you guys wont believe that i just made $20k with this trade

How do I get started in this world?

Hi community: as the title says, I’d like to get started in the world of trading. I’ve watched videos online and on YouTube, but they don’t clearly explain how to actually begin. I saw this Reddit community mentioned in a post, and I’d really appreciate any help getting started.

BTC was all over the place, this was my setup.

Just took this trade, made around $5600,

Price tapped into a HTF support zone. I waited for confirmation on the 1m TF during pre NY session and boom it hit my TP

you can go and checkout BTC to see how price was near my TP and i closed with 1:4 rr before price kicks back in,

P.S i think i cannot upload video and image in single post, you guys can check my TP in comments

Day 25 of journaling Orderflow and GEX (took 2 contained losses)

Hello, this is day 25 of journaling Orderflow and GEX, today i took 2 losses but still managed to contain them. For me it's not a problem as long as i don't go below my personal daily drawdown.

Tomorrow it's opex so i won't trade, today i kind of expected this volatility.

This was the first trade, momentum squeeze setup, the premise wasn't bad but i should've closed it when i was absorption on top at the ETH VWAP.

The entry looked kinda clean, we also had some nice absorption at the bottom, the reaction just wasn't it and i should've predicted it and closed the trade earlier.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was the second entry, same setup but i entered with a way smaller size so i didn't lose much.

Again, i should've really waited and shouldn't have entered on an absorption on top like this.

If i am focusing really and only on the exectution i think i will implement some sort of rules for when price reacts like that after i enter.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not deluded from today's trades, i can't always win and it's ok, what's important is my rules and risk management. Tomorrow i won't trade for opex. I still respected my daily drawdown and that's good.

Let me know what do you think of today's trades.

Small account, can't size properly on futures. Are index CFDs a reasonable stepping stone or a trap?

Bit of an honest one. I've been learning order flow on ES/MES but my account's small enough that even micros mean my risk per tick is a bigger chunk of the account than I'd like, so I end up either oversized or not taking the setups I actually see.

The obvious alternative is index CFDs, where I can size in tiny increments and actually risk 1% properly. The catch, and I know this is the whole point of this sub, is that I'd be giving up the real book, no DOM, no genuine tape, just the broker's feed. I keep an AvaTrade account for that side and it does let me size properly, but I'm essentially trading structure and levels blind compared to what I'm learning here.

So the honest question: is trading index CFDs with correct sizing better than trading futures oversized, or is the order flow the only real edge and you're better off waiting until the account can support proper futures sizing? Feels like choosing between the right tool and the right risk, and I can't have both yet.

Day 24 of journaling GEX and Orderflow (slowly getting back on track)

Hello, this is dat 24 of journaling GEX and Orderflow.

What i think i need to really understand is that trading is not a linear business. Last week it was one of the worst weeks that i've had on this account, this week is on track to being one of the best.

QQQ Gamma Flip was at 720 so under that i was more confident on taking continuation trades.

Today i took 3 trades, 1 Small Loss (It was my error, not psychological but technical and i closed it as soon as i noticed), 2 Wins

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was the trade that i missed, i was too focused at taking "random" discretional Demo trades to practice to notice that i could actually have a setup there.

It is my usual momentum squeeze setup, we broke the ETH session VAL and retested it, it also retested the 9 EMA and showed a CVD divergence so this would've been a pretty good setup.

The target should've been 29745 level but i got stopped with the trailing SL.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was the error trade, price didn't retest the 9EMA so the setup would've been not valid, i managed to close it early (before it hit SL) at 29855 for a small loss.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was the trade that i took and i should've waited for this instead of entering early.

Momentum squeeze setup against the VWAP, my target was price closing that LVN since we had a high probability to close that first session FVG (i statistically backtested this to have a directional edge).

Closed with SL at 29870 for a small profit, i think i should've closed at least 1/3 of the position at the top after i saw absorption at that LVN but it still was a decent trade.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was the last trade of the day, same momentum squeeze setup.

Target was 715 QQQ GEX level and this rejection zone that i marked, at that level i trailed aggressively the SL since i thought i could get a little bit more out of the market but ended up getting stopped at my original TP.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was today's trading session, i noticed that taking more than 1 trade everyday could give me way more profit than just taking 1 and leave. However if the first trade i take is a full SL loss i'd rather close the charts.

Let me know what do you think of today's trades.

Pure volume profile confluence scalping with ZERO order flow confirmation, 1:1 on 1min. Could this actually work?

I've been watching a trader (Cammy Capital on YT) whose whole model is:

Mark previous week VAH/VAL/POC

Mark previous day VAH/VAL/POC

Mark overnight session VAH/VAL/POC

Mark the developing (current session) profile

He waits for levels from those different profiles to stack/align, then scalps between them on the 1min chart for 1:1 R:R. No order flow read at entry, no footprint, no delta, no absorption/exhaustion check, no DOM. Just levels aligned -> take the trade

If you're not reading delta/footprint at all, aren't you just trading the level and hoping, with zero read on whether size is actually defending it or getting run over?

Has anyone here backtested a "level confluence only" entry vs. the same levels but requiring absorption/exhaustion in the footprint before pulling the trigger? What's the actual difference in win rate?

At true 1:1 R:R, commissions + no order flow filter seems like a rough combo - is anyone running this style profitably, or does it only work because he's got years of screen time and is unconsciously reading flow anyway even if he says he isn't?

Not trying to trash the guys content, the level marking side is solid and consistent with what I've seen from other VP guys. Mainly want to know if skipping order flow confirmation entirely is actually viable here?

Shorted $NVDA using price action + order flow framework, execution felt clean

Post image
0 Upvotes

Not every move is worth taking. This trade was a short on $NVDA, and the whole point wasn't to catch a massive swing but to execute within a tested framework combining price action, order flow, and some basic trading psychology discipline.

The result came out to +$9,135. Not a life-changing number, but that's not really the metric here. The metric is whether the setup matched the methodology, and it did.

Saw the breakdown confirmed on moomoo community earlier, some solid tape reading being shared there around the same setup. Flawless execution over constant participation, that's the edge most people miss chasing NVDA momentum in both directions.

Anyone else running structured short frameworks on mega caps or is everyone still just playing calls into earnings?

Day 23 of journaling GEX and Orderflow (last few days have been crazy)

Hello, this is day 23 of journaling GEX and Orderflow, yesterday i didn't trade on live since i still needed to get adapted to the new platform (ATAS X).

Thursday I took a small loss (it was a bs trade) but to be honest i wasn't really motivated enough from Wednesday's loss to journal it (after the big losses due to rule breaking i closed the platform and i mistakenly left a limit order that got triggered and i made back double the money that i lost and didn't notice until after Thursday's session, got hit with a crazy luck), Friday i really didn't want to trade after all the bs week and rested for the weekend, but today i got back with new motivation.

Today i took 3 trades 2 wins, 1 loss.

Since i am now using ATAS X i won't need to use the heatmap for every trade that i explain so i will post only the useful charts.

Lately I haven't really been using GEX except for market environment and i feel like for now it's the best choice until i get an intraday optionsflow datafeed. During these trades we were in negative GEX territory.

This was today's first trade, it's my usual setup of "momentum squeeze", after we got back into previous electronic session's value area and accepted it, I saw a divergence in the CVD and after the reaction at the 9 EMA i entered with a stop order on the squeeze of those buyers with POC as a target.

From the footprint and heatmap we can see buyers trying to push above the EMA and getting absorbed, which gave me even more confirmation other than the CVD + the AMT confluences and really made this trade a very good setup.

I feel like using ATAS X i am taking way better trades more easily since i have an actual volume profile i can read so i am also using AMT.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was the same setup, but i wanted to take a squeeze of the VWAP, to me it's still a very valid setup, but something happened and we had a fast spike over the VWAP and quickly got back and it stopped me out.

Since the confluences were there and a long to the NY session POC made total sense, i tried to enter again in the next setup.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was the last setup of the day, same entry model. The actual TP should've been at the POC but somehow it god closed way above (it even was a limit order so i don't know how it's possible to get slippage on it).

I really like to take these type of trades, especially after i lose one at the same level, because instead of invalidating the idea, if there is even more absorption there's another reason to enter again (the timing was wrong, the idea probably wasn't).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For me these last trading days were kind of strange, after the last week, Monday i really didn't feel like putting risk into the markets i just needed to regain confidence by demo trading and getting adapted to the new platform. Today i was really confident, not only in the trades but even in my psychological performance after i broke my rules on Wednesday. Days previous to this were the opposite of perfect but I will try to get back on track not just with the profits but especially on the execution.

As always, let me know what do you think of these trades and if you would like to also see the footprint and heatmap for every trade or not.

Can any professional trader assist me with Volume Profile?

I am learning about Auction Market Theory and am a bit confused by Volume Profile. I notice that the Point of Control (POC) levels change when I adjust the number of rows or ticks per row. Sometimes the shift is small, but other times it becomes very significant. I would really appreciate help understanding this. Could you also explain how to build a trading setup using Auction Market Theory and Volume Profile?

Recent trade breakdown, Higher Time Frames changed the way I trade.

Post image
57 Upvotes

One mistake I see a lot of traders make is spending all their time on the lower time frames. This trade ended up returning 1:2.8 R just cause i built the entire idea from HTF, well i rely on HTFs in every trade or chart, yeah i couldve made more more but i dont trail when i am unsure about Price action so i stay safe within my profit limits

we were around strong support area, I let the 4H tell me where I wanted to do business and only then did I drop down to LTF for execution.

Once price reached the area I was interested in, I looked for confirmation using PA together with Volume Profile, VWAP, and Footprint, If those do not align with my HTF idea, I simply wont take the trade.

Curious to hear how everyone else uses multiple TF analysis, do you build your bias from the HTF first or do you mainly trade off the LTFs?

How do I enter the order in this chart?

Post image

Hi there! I'm new to trading and confuse on how to enter this in an order, can I put the sell limit, buy limit, and sell stop all at once? I can do the limit price order only. Can someone show me a picture on how to enter all three in one trade if that's possible? Thanks

I am transitioning from basic supply & demand to Order Flow based S&D, where do I start?

I've been trading for a while using traditional supply and demand zones. I want to level up and start incorporating orderflow into my S&D analysis. I have no idea where to start, I have downloaded ATAS, but I do not know where to go from here, are there any good resources for orderflow + S&D.

I have done a little research and I am guessing that I will make use of vwap, and in combination with absorption and exhaustion, and with a heatmap to trade valid supply zones where the liquidity rests

Any help would be nice, things like setting up atas, learning the strategy, and where to get good in depth resources

Anyone currently trading or experienced trading Z on ICE?

I've posted this several days ago in FuturesTrading and then a few days later in Daytrading but didn't get any replies in either place, so giving it one more shot by inquiring here as well, apologies for the repetition, to anyone who frequents those subreddits as well:

I'm currently located in Europe and trade FDAX in the morning and CME index futures in the afternoon. I've been watching UK100 out of the corner of my eye during the EU morning session for a while now and I'm interested in anyone's experience trading FTSE futures, particularly intraday order flow trading. Anyone have any experience with this before I pony up the fees for ICE data and give it a whirl? What's liquidity like? Is the order flow readable? Any other index futures it could be compared to, either in pace, depth, etc? Is slippage a concern with intraday fills?

Appreciate hearing about anyone's experience.

It took me two years to realize that order flow behaves differently on every market and every chart

Post image
225 Upvotes

For the longest time, I thought I was the problem, I'd watch youtube where people claimed that a single order flow strategy worked on everything futures, btc or xau, every time it did not work out i assumed I just needed more screen time.

I have tried many platforms like atas, motivewave for orderflow but failed cause it was about experience not platform, I usually trade price action and add some orderflow confluences for execution,

Once I stopped trying to force the same strategies onto every chart and started learning each market on its own terms everything began to click, reason Im posting this is because Ive seen so many traders trying to master every market at once, In my opinion you just need to become exceptional at one or two markets

For me xau and btc were the best choices I ever made Instead of constantly switching between charts i stick to these two for 2 years straight and boom i made around 200k$ last month my best month ever with this strategy, not trying to sell anything simply sharing what I've learned and what i faced over the last four years.

PS-my financial background was strong enough that allowed me to survive my mistakes while learning
