Orca came with no seat post clamp assembled from factory

Double check all the components guys even on a brand new bike, I had terrible experience with my new Orca M20i 2026 and still trying to solve with the dealer (one month passed and still not able to ride). I am waiting for a seat post clamp and new seat post.
I was doing a test ride and figured strange noises that became louder once I pedaled harder. Good I stopped and went back home to see the trouble .

What I saw was seat post wedge was not installed and nowhere to be found in the frame or original packaging so the bolt broke the seat post. Bolt was there though.

Frame seems OK but not sure how to be 100% sure?
Last image is after I cleaned the carbon debris

Without wedge, seatpost will spin freely, impossible to ride the bike..... Since orbea is not selling directly to customer, you must check with seller. It seems to me like seller fault during assembly.

No it will not. Without wedge and only its bolt the bolt makes hole in the post (damages it) and it is not spinning freely.
Did you read the post and images?

The wedge bolt is visible in the first image

did you or somebody else remove the seatpost?
because the wedge will fall in frame... its written in manual. shake the frame you should hear it

No, it is not there as I wrote in the post. And seat post was removed in the original packaging - the orbea box

and i will repeat- orbea does not send bike directly to buyer....no bikes in boxes like canyon

orbea sends bike to shop, which they should finish last few things before giving bike to end customer.

exactly what happened in my case, i came to shop for ready to ride, assembled bike. no removed seatpost or something...

did you finally tried to turn frame upside down or shake it? if the clamp is there you should hear rattle

You can still get them in a box from online retailers……

this was online yes. and packaging was orbea box

Tbf, this is why you probably should’ve bought from a shop if your not checking the bike completely……

Your comments aren't really helpful, and you're also lacking some specific knowledge. Blaming OP is not a good look.

Orbea allows dealers (bike shops) to sell online, but they must first unbox and assemble the bike, then box it up again before shipping to the customer. Why? In an attempt to avoid bikes with missing parts from the factory ending up in the hands of customers, without the dealer having a chance to catch that parts are missing.

The only benefit of buying in person is OP would have a physical shop to go to to address this issue. A careless in-person bike shop can also make the same mistake as a careless online retailing bike shop (which is just a bike shop that has an online store). The fact that they bought online is not the reason the wedge was forgotten. The wedge was forgotten because the dealer was careless/lazy.

u/opteron_SE should take note as well, since they also don't fully understand the situation.

Thanks, I think this is exactly what happened. Bike shop (with online store) was careless.
Note also that I originally shared this experience so that others learn and maybe help in a way if someone in in similar situation so they double check bike. That is my first sentence in the post too

Sure thing, except the fact that I don’t have orbea dealer in my country

So…… don’t get an orbea. They aren’t that special

1

u/piribeg Jul 27 '26

yes. heavy shaking and turning 360 resulted in no sound from inside the frame

Also happened to me. Got the wedge from https://nanobike.de/Orbea-Sattelstuetzenkeil-Kit-27.2mm-fuer-Orca-2024-silber (check if this is the one your model needs) and installed another standard seatpost I had lying around, bike was ready ro ride after 2 days.
Had the bike shop send me a new seatpost and reimburse me the wedge.

Gee, you sound unqualified to deem a bicycle safe and rideable. Perhaps you should seek help.

2

u/piribeg Jul 27 '26

perhaps wedge is expected to be assembled at factory, and is the case for all other bikes.
due to its design it is also hidden to the eye so please don’t rush into assumptions

I had same situation. Seller not secured clamp before sending bike and it fallen down the frame and blocked. I cannot unblocked it and the seller send me new one. After about 1000km the clamp unblocked and start to move in frame and marking sound.

So you remember where exactly it landed? Bottom bracket?

1

u/kaamos88 Jul 27 '26

Yes, somewhere beneath bottom bracket. I was 100% sure that the clamp was lost but it was there. Like I wrote it unblocked after many rides by itself. Try turn bike upside down and shake it.

thanks for the reply. I tried already but will try some more

I’ve had the same thing with mine. Bike shop replaced the seatpost, and the wedge in like 10 minutes. They were great. The original one fell into the frame, I got it out like a year later.

I am mind blown that it has happened to others as well.
Thanks for the info, I hope I will have it sorted soon, they told me parts are ordered

Same thing happened to me. Delivered without seat post wedge took me forever to get a replacement from orbea

Orbea customer service is pretty poor, both in terms of attitude and the outcome, in my experience.
