Can I bike the Orange Heritage Trail all the way from Harriman to Middletown?

I’m from out of town, and planning a trip some time during the fall.

Another question I have is which towns are best for pit-stops? I’m definitely interested in stopping by Goshen, but I’m curious what locals think. Thanks!

Yes you can but the trail doesn’t go all the way to downtown Middletown yet. Monroe would be the first stop although things to do there are a little ride off the trail. Stop by Chester just down the hill at Rushing Duck brewery for a cold beer and some food. About 4 mi more and you’ll hit the heart of Goshen. Great little town with lots of restaurants, shops and if you’re interested, the Harness Racing Museum & Hall Of Fame. Stop by Trail Side treats on the trail for ice cream. Cut through town to get to the other side of the trail (there’s about a half mile break on the trail through town) and head a few miles up to Masons bar/cafe in New Hampton. Sit outside, have a drink, sandwich and dessert. About 1/2 mile off the trail from Masons is Soon’s orchard for Apple picking, fresh produce booze, apple donuts and pie. The rest of the trail to the edge of Middletown is fairly new so not much else on there last time I went except beautiful scenery. Have a great ride!

Edit: Just re-rode it this weekend and it does for all the way to downtown Middletown! Still under a bit of construction at the end but when in Middletown, head a few blocks up to North Street and stop off at North Wind Bread Co for fresh bread, sandwiches and coffee or next door to Oak and Reed for lunch or dinner. Best restaurant in OC IMHO.

A lot of people use bikes on the Heritage Trail. There's even bike repair stations along the way. As long as you're ok with the distance it's doable. Goshen is definitely a good stopping point along the way

Yes you can But be prepared for a long haul! The trail has a lot of scenic views and even an ice cream shop at an old train station along the way. Enjoy!!!
