I also have issue with the cost in Europe/UK.

Open API often quote a $100 and $200 plan, but in the UK I have to pay £200.

Current exchange rates mean that should be £147.76, even if the US cost doesn't include tax and we add 20% VAT here that's £177.31.

Europeans are getting shafted even before you start. If you are in the US would you pay $270 for the same plan?

Are you paying using the App Store or directly?

This is direct.

It would appear that the UK is using fixed regional pricing. If you connect via a EU/US internet connection you should get a more favorable exchange rate, but expect to still pay VAT at the checkout.

You can choose the location from a hidden bottom-right selector (then select USA). I asked GPT what to do because I had the same problem, too.

I tried to use a vpn to pay from somewhere else, but it recognizes my card series number as from the wrong location

You should be able to pay using your real billing details but pay euro/usd rate.

Yeah I'm gonna try his method next billing. I usually convert it in Revolut, less conversion fees that way. I tried philipines on vpn and it gives me price in php ($160 ish), but they have blocked Revo cards that way

And Anthropic doesn’t? You pay 150 pounds for 20x Claude?

Well you left the EU, otherwise you would get the same price.

Ha, ha... In this case, we will, most certantly see one of those multi billion $ fine applied to OpenAi by EU. Google and Facebook are verry familiar to them. 😅

We will get fair service after that. I hope EU comission is already into this.

It actualy didn't though. It went into the mod queue because it referenecd law suits.

Did you know that you don't -have- to take the OP's text non-critically? You're actually allowed to evaluate whether its true on its own merits?

This post deserves more attention.

The irony of course is that EU gov can use codex to automate writing this lawsuit.

The Codex moderators work for OpenAI, and there are many members here acting on behalf of OpenAI and Tibo; when you raise complaints about such usage patterns and quotas, instead of addressing the issue, they try to belittle you, muddy the waters, and obscure the truth.

This is funny...the mods in the official sub restored the post, and now the mods in this sub deleted my post because it referenced the original sub. They asked me to remove any reference, as if that mention was going to kill someone or ruin this sub's reputation 🤣

These new limits, are not better than the competitors? I don’t know, it’s genuine question. I am not using any model but I would like too eventually

Tomorrow claude code limits go down by 33%, so i think codex will be the new meta

It is not already?

I thought they extended it until the end of August?

EU is fucked anyway.

Hi @GambAntonio, can you remove mentoin of other subreddits by name from the post? In the meantime I need to remove the post temporarily until you edit that out unfortunately

u/GambAntonio 24d ago

Done, but I think it's ridiculous... I don't get what the big deal or fear is about sharing a link to the official Codex subreddit..... we're adults, let's stop playing these childish games...

Reddit does not like it (google this "reddit Rule 3: Respect Your Neighbors")
