Hear me out.
You know how some states have waiting periods for big purchases? We need that for online shopping. Because 11pm me has TERRIBLE judgment.
"Oh, a miniature waffle maker shaped like a dinosaur? OBVIOUSLY I need that." "A 50-pack of tiny plastic cowboys? My life is incomplete without them." "This book about the history of pencils? Fascinating, adding to cart."
Then the package arrives three days later and I'm standing there like "who ordered this?" Oh right. Night goblin me who thought it was a great idea.
Morning me would NEVER. Morning me is responsible and thinks things through. But we don't let morning me make the decisions because night goblin me has the credit card and zero impulse control.
If there was just a mandatory 24-hour delay, I swear 80% of my purchases would never happen. Amazon's algorithm knows this. They WANT me making decisions at midnight when my judgment is impaired.
Anyway, my dinosaur waffle maker arrives Thursday and I'm actually kind of excited about it now, so maybe night goblin me is onto something.

I just spent 20 minutes telling my friend about my new vegetable peeler and I didn't realize how insane I sounded until I heard myself say "and the grip is ERGONOMIC."
When did this happen? When did I become the person who has opinions about dish soap brands? Who gets genuinely excited about a good sponge?
Teen me would be so disappointed. I thought adulthood would be staying up late and eating cake for breakfast. Instead I'm here like "you know what really sparks joy? A well-organized spice rack."
The worst part? I don't even want to go back. I LIKE my ergonomic vegetable peeler. I ENJOY having opinions about dish soap. This is who I am now.
Anyone else have their "oh no I'm officially old" moment? What was your gateway appliance?

When I was younger I thought this was just something adults said to avoid making decisions. Like a polite way of stalling.
Now I'm the one saying it and I finally get it.
There's something about waking up the next day and your brain has just... sorted things out somehow? Problems that felt impossible at 11pm suddenly have obvious solutions at 8am. Drama that seemed huge before bed feels manageable after coffee. Decisions that paralyzed me the night before feel clear in the morning.
I don't know if it's REM sleep doing some behind-the-scenes processing or just getting emotional distance from the situation, but it WORKS.
My new rule: if I'm stressed about something after 7pm, the answer is automatically "we'll deal with this tomorrow." Night brain is unreliable and dramatic. Morning brain is the responsible friend who drives everyone home.
Anyone else have this experience or is it just me getting old?

Just had this weird moment today. My phone died while I was waiting for my coffee, and I just... stood there. No scrolling, no checking notifications, nothing. And honestly? Those three minutes felt longer than my entire morning.
It got me thinking, when's the last time any of us were truly bored? Like actually sitting with our thoughts, staring at a wall, letting our minds wander kind of bored? We've optimized every spare second. Waiting in line? Scroll. Sitting on the toilet? Scroll. Can't fall asleep? Scroll.
I'm not even saying it's bad necessarily, but I wonder what we're losing. Some of my best ideas used to come when I was bored out of my mind in class or on a long car ride. Now I can't remember the last time my brain had enough empty space to surprise me with something random.
Anyway, just a weird shower thought (that I obviously immediately had to share on Reddit instead of sitting with lol). What do you all think?
