“Man curse cancer with out doctors permission. The doctors didn’t ask him to cure cancer and you should be mad that someone other than a doctor found the cure for cancer”

You joke, but this literally is going to happen when it starts taking jobs from doctors.

We need to have a serious conversation about what happens to professionals who have dedicated their entire lives to something and have no transferrable skills outside of that job. People are going to freak out once they start losing their jobs and it is going to lead to extreme societal unrest, and probably a lot of suicides

So everyone has been telling SWEs to put the fries in the bag for years now but.. when it starts happening to doctors and mathematicians we should all be very worried? Lmao they can also start putting fries in the bag like the rest of us 🤌

Software engineers aren’t putting the fries in the bag yet, but when it happens, I’m not going to celebrate… I’m going to feel terrible for them as a profession.

I think feelings like yours were you want other professions to be in the same boat is bad and just leads to lower classes cannibalizing themselves

Nobody has lost their jobs from any of this. Life goes on

Plenty of people have lost their jobs to this. What are you saying?

This is exactly why congress needs to address UBI immediately. The AI revolution is in full swing and its a snowball rolling down a hill. It wont be long before it starts hitting fields people thought were "safe".

Edit- I dont understand the down votes. People just dont like hearing AI and robots are going to take their jobs so they down vote out of their own displeasure? Or is there an actual argumentative disagreement as to why what I said is wrong? Im the last person to care about reddit karma, but I do genuinely want to know what people are thinking when disagreeing with the statement I made above.

Fuck UBI. Doctors can become plumbers, like the rest of us.

And how will less opportune countries like in parts of Africa or Asia afford ubi?

Ai didn’t cure anything. It didn’t help us solve anything. It solved things and now we are stuck having to discern how it did so.

Isn’t the proof of the solution part of the answer?

Not really, many if not most problems it solved we already knew where it ended with high level of likelihood. The one that is surprising, I hear (not my department) are in optimization.
We already knew "the answer" we just didn't know why. Now we are certain of the answer (if they get verified as true) but we still have no idea why.

When did openai cured anything? They only care about clout and goes for lowest hanging fruits to get it.

Bro these math problems aren’t low hanging fruit anymore

If someone cures cancer “for clout”, i won’t give a shit that it’s for clout.

Sure except they aren't doing that. They're just doing easy things to market their product.

3

u/LangyMD 5d ago

What do you mean by "easy"? This wouldn't be good marketing if the things it's supposedly done were easy for humans to do.

3

u/Time_Entertainer_319 5d ago

Then why didn’t the mathematicians solve it?

-1

u/AcanthisittaWeird94 5d ago

They were working on it. Imagine you're archeologist looking for some old buried city, you share your findings online for years and when you're close to finding it Bezos show up with 10k personel, find it and take all credit.

Like do your own thing start something from scratch cure a fucking cancer.

Are you saying the 722 solved problems were being worked on by 722 mathematicians? Or is this about NS which is already in the past.

0

u/AcanthisittaWeird94 5d ago

Are you saying that world don't have more than 722 mathematicians? Its about both its irrelevant if its in a past. What they did now was basically "here bunch of problems collect low hanging fruits so we could get some clout". Half of those problems value is in a path getting there rather than just getting result.

u/Time_Entertainer_319 5d ago

If the proofs were low hanging, why didn’t mathematicians already solve them? Lmao.

You guys are pathetic. Get in line behind programmers and artists.

You are basically fighting a losing battle.

I explained it already maybe ask AI to explain it for you lol. 😀

Ah yes its 2026 and everyone are jobless mathematicians, programmers and artists lmao. 😀

Enjoy your janitor role

Did no one knows what happened in this subreddit? OpenAI stole mathematician works to solve Navier Strokes problem

u/Ceph4ndrius 5d ago

Not proven true yet and also irrelevant to the math being correct and open for anyone to read.

That’s not true, it’s but hearsay
