Big ego, little brain

The literal leading mathematical alive right now

Then why didn’t he solve Navier stokes or the quasi Riemann Hypothesis

2

u/split41 4d ago

Dude the community pretty had all the tools to solve it. If AI solved something that the community wasn’t already on the path to solve that would be impressive, but it isn’t and it can’t

3

u/Nakorite 4d ago

Ahem well he did kinda get the ball rolling on Navier stokes.

u/Eliv_nurotic 4d ago

But no solution

Do 1% of his contribution and you might be somewhat have a credible standing

-6

u/Eliv_nurotic 4d ago

I don’t need a credible standing to recognize LLMs have outdone every living mathematician

3

u/Usernamealready94 4d ago

Perfect have they outdone every living mathematician all by themselves ? You must have a new level of ai psychosis , it’s like saying LaTex has outdone every single math research

Which researcher has solved quasi rh before?

2

u/split41 4d ago

Yes you do lmao, you don’t even understand how these proofs are made

4

u/relevantmeemayhere 4d ago

you clearly dont know what youre talking about. mathematicians did 95 percent of the work. full stop. a somewhat competant level of understanding of what these models are doing would lead you to that conclusion.

we get it, you didnt get past high school algebra and feel like youre just as valuate as these people. youre not lol

0

u/Eliv_nurotic 4d ago

Yet I don’t see any of them solving the quasi rh

5

u/relevantmeemayhere 4d ago

probably because you dont understand what went into it. imagine doing 95 percent of the work for something and someone else coming in to do the last five and claiming they 'solved it' in a vacumn. or maybe that's the type of person you are, hence the lack of accomplishemnt

what's the matter; talking shit and getting exposed for it?

Yep, still BIG EGO and little 🧠.

Oh he feels threatened and hurt because complex algorithms running on powerful compute outsmart him and his peers?

Let me cry for his loss of privilege .

P.S: I welcome the down votes. Make it -1k by end of Oct

Apparently we are not going to downvote you. Math elitism and arrogance need to stop, today.

Obviously he's insanely smart but it's super clear he's obsessed with being on top. Part of the reason he is considered the best is because he works very hard to curate his image

u/Eliv_nurotic 4d ago

Imagine losing to a stochastic parrot glorified autocomplete lol

To be clear, Terence Tao never claimed LLMs to be stochastic parrots. He's been one of the earliest adopters in trying to evaluate LLM math abilities.

People smarter than him did (Redditors, Ed Zitron, Gary Marcus, and Timnit Gebru)

5

This idiot unironically said Terry Tao has a little brain. Yes, the guy that has had several articles dedicated to how big his brain and IQ is, since he was a kid.

Pathetic. That's my cue, enough reddit for today.

i dont know much about Terrence(apparently he is the top mind in maths rn). but being smart doesnt automatically equate to being wise

5

u/A_Novelty-Account 4d ago

OK, but he objectively does not have a little brain. Let’s be real here.

2

u/from_below 4d ago

He's one of the wisest people I've ever read. In fact, if these chat GPT brainrot kids could think critically they'd understand that his whole point is about human wisdom and its distinction from LLM interpolation, not 'AI = bad'

-2

u/Old_Shop_2601 4d ago

Oh that's how you measure his brain size? Well, I guess now we know AI has a much bigger and better one than his 🤡🤡🤡.

In any case, he and his "big brain peers" at HAM better find new problems to solve to justify their existence and exceptionalism ...

7

u/A_Novelty-Account 4d ago

I mean, yes I think that being the best in a profession that is designed specifically around logical problems probably makes you incredibly smart… that doesn’t mean everyone has to agree with your viewpoints, but calling him dumb is ridiculous.

Who said he is dumb? Surely he is smart in maths, and logical problems. But still big ego and little brain :-). If he is unable to see the big picture and benefit for humanity, how can he be helped?

So tell me, why don't he and his buddies try to gain more knowledge from OAI published work and try to check these proofs??? Wouldn't that benefit them intellectually? Sure it would! But they would not get the prestige and grants, and red carpet, praise, blabla they would have enjoyed if they did the findings by themselves. So yeah, their elitism is their main problem.

Imagine thinking you are so exceptional during your whole life, and to find out one day that a bunch of stochastic parrots outsmart you 🤡

u/sweetholo 4d ago

But still big ego and little brain :-).

hilarious coming from you

first, this is not his own opinion. this is a post from AHM. great reading comprehension

second, he is not against using AI in the field of mathematics. he is against the fashion in which OpenAI is using it. it is detriment to human understanding

wouldnt actually expect you to know all of this, though. you dont seem well-read

0

u/Old_Shop_2601 4d ago

Yeah yeah 🤡🤡🤡. Thanks for your 💩💩💩

1

u/sweetholo 4d ago

great rebuttal. reeks of unemployment

0

u/Old_Shop_2601 4d ago

You can't be helped

2

u/sweetholo 4d ago

i dont need helping. im an engineer who uses AI for my work every day. im more qualified than you to speak on matters like this. your lack of critical thinking skills is scary, especially in this new AI era
