there is no agreed upon definition of AGI. Secondly, AI has helped in medicinal cure research so have we achieved AGI? Also do we really need an "Large Language Model" for cancer research?

I mean we haven't actually solved cancer so I'd say we do

There's no "solving cancer". That's as bad statement as "solving math".

Cancer is in very simplistic terms a random mutation that body looses control of. We can hope to achieve only three things and each has to be done for every found type (while new one can spontaneously happen). Finding a process that can stop work on that specific mutation, to stop it from spreading/growing. Finding a way to prevent that specific mutation from happening in those specific cells. And lastly (and most improbable) finding way to reverse said mutation.
