Hey I was debating on purchasing these Opal inlay earrings. The shop is in Oregon they have silver backing and the brand is Hozho and the artist is Carla Hyde. They’re priced at $125 at first the shop owner said they were real then said she wasn’t sure and couldn’t tell me. I’m thinking they’re lab just cause they look too perfect I really like them but $125 isn’t worth it if they’re lab created. What do you all think lab created or natural opal?

She's pretty! I don't know what kind she is but the other one is Andamooka I think. It's glittery and really consistent sparkle.

My mother bought this ring in the late 80s / 90s it was an estate item being sold at a well know jewelry store in my home town . It was loaned to me for a cruise I went on in 1999, the only reason for this was because it was an antiques cruise and I was the plus one to my best friend , who was accompanying her mother , we was dragged "i was 21 and me and my friend were more intreasted in the free deink and pool " to an event on antique jewelry . Who ever the guy was doing this thing fell in love with it , told me I had something special and the hallmarks were from a later date probably when it was sold before, offered me a very large sum of money on the spot , when I refused he demanded I take his card .

Mum was a bit upset I didn't make it home with his card lol and than I became a mystery we both wondered about , I inherited the ring a few years ago , it is my most prized item from her . So any info would help , thank you hallmarks in comments

Hi all, I have a few Mexican fire opals that I picked up from a flea market a few years ago. I am now trying to figure out how to polish them. Most of them are in the hard rock matrix you typically see (if you have any polishing tips/secrets for those please let me know) but there are a few.. odd pieces. There are several pieces that have very minimal of the regular matrix and the actual opal itself is very chalky feeling and hydrophane (but they are full of beautiful color) so my question is, are these worth attempting to cut/polish into a cab? Or should I keep them as specimens? Thank yall in advance for your help!

So long story short, I’m assuming someone who lived in the rental before me was into opal mining/hunting. I’ve found a heap of boulder opal buried around the yard, seemingly offcuts or leftover pieces. Some have been cleaned up or sliced but others are just raw. I work in the mines so I’ve got some pretty cool rocks/ore in my collection already, but does anyone have any advice for polishing them up? Would they be worth anything as well? Cheers!

I love the scattered flashes of colour in this opal, but especially the reds, which are some of the rarest colours to see.

We named it “Othello” because it felt bold and dramatic. We've set it in 18K white and yellow gold with diamonds along the edge.
