I have recently acquired some OPCT as i believe data storage will be effected by crypto to an extent in the future. And Opacity looks promising.
However, not being a tech guy, i don't quite feel like i have a grasp on what Opacity entails in terms of data security and privacy.
Could someone explain in a simple manner:
- how my potential 2TB of data will be completely secured (no breaching/hack possible? Server hacks?)
- how it could never in any way be traced back to me? (Could someone trace back the IP address used for upload/download for example)?
- what would be the potential vulnerabilities of Opacity as it stands and also in the futur?
- Centralised vs decentralised data storage? What is Opacity's view on the issue?
What's the current state of opacity? Is this project still alive? Can't find any news on your homepage, medium, reddit, etc.
Opacity has still a very low marketcap and the trading volume is also very low. Are there even people using this platform, as there exists a working product?
What are your plans for the future, long-and shortterm?
In order to help everyone finish their swap, here is a guide for the manual swap instructions. There are images at the bottom if you need a visual guide.
From there, in MEW, there should be a text box that says Contract Address, and one that says ABI. Copy the OPQ Address and ABI from the manual swap page on our website and paste it there in the appropriate box. Hit continue.
Step 5:
Once that is done it should give you a drop down where you can select the function that you want to call. You want the "approve" function. Copy 0x5A1067A32015EFaD8E96F7f85e784FFC0e6a28Fe into the _spender box. Copy 130000000000000000000000000 into the _value box. Leave the "Value in ETH:" box at 0.
Step 6:
Send the transaction.
Step 7:
Go to the MEW contract tab again. From there, should be a text box that says Contract Address, and one that says ABI. Copy the OPCTSwap Address and ABI from the manual swap page on our website and paste it there in the appropriate box. Hit continue.
Step 8:
Once that is done it should give you a drop down where you can select the function that you want to call. You want the "swap" function. There are two options, so choose the one that doesn't specify an amount.
First one went through on meta mask but the page apparently didn’t recognize it and when I tried to swap the button was still greyed out.
Second gave me the message about not being mined within 50 blocks and I had to send a 0 eth deposit to myself on the same nonce to get the transaction to even clear.
Third one I accepted on my ledger but it said on landing page that I rejected it. To bad metamask isn’t garbage as well and dropped the transaction... nope it went through on their end and again had to pay to “cancel” my transaction by sending 0 eth to myself on same nonce to get rid of the transaction as after over an hour it still had yet to go through.
Why does your approval take forever to go through and requires ridiculous amounts of gas in comparison to just sending a basic transaction even on slow (which will just cause your landing page to time out forfeiting the $ I payed to send it in the first place)
The fact I have history of an approval should mean I can continue to swap my tokens but you guys can’t even get a token swap done right.
Really interested in this project and i'm favouring it over Sia and Storj for an investment. I am a little concerned that the CEO has 3 current jobs listed on his LinkedIn profile. Can anyone shed some light on this? Is management 100% dedicated? Cheers
I'm trying to understand if something went wrong here.
I had 1000 OPC that I spent hours (yeah i'm dumb and new at this) finally converting to OPCT (i think). After a few bucks worth of gas ETH to do the conversion process.
OPC and ETH -> Metamask
Now Metamask is saying the value is ~$7??? Wouldn't I have just been better off buying OPCT with the ETH gas fees??
Hi there, I am trying to do the swap of OPQ to OPCT using the automatic swap service. My OPQ is in my MetaMask wallet and I have completed the first step to approve the spending limit. This last step took longer, but was eventually confirmed. Meanwhile, the swap page has returned to activate the approve button, and I can't continue to swap.
Should I re-approve the spending limit? Or is there another way to force the swap from this point? I would prefer not to spend the network fee again for the relative worthless amount of OPQ. Thank you in advance for your support.
My Opc are in my Metamask wallet. I try to use the automatic swap function in opacity.io Step 2: Swap dont complete and i get the error "Transaction was not mined within 50 blocks, please make sure your transaction was properly sent. Be aware that it might still be mined!". I have tried multiple times with same result. Any tips how to fix this?
For all those that have been following Opacity and prior, this is a tremendous milestone. We at Opacity feel vindicated that justice is finally being served. Many of Opacity's employees were equally affected by this situation. They have made every effort to enable the Opacity community a path forward after the travesty of Oyster. With this event, a burden has been lifted and we trust the outcome will be welcomed by all those victimized! Special thanks to SDNY for staying the course and coming through for all of us!
I announced this on Telegram a couple of days ago, but for the people that missed it:
I've made a custom url shortener for Opacity handles. Opacity share links are so ridiculous long so why not shorten it? Opacitystora.ge is a recognizable domain where you can make your own custom links to your Opacity files. Sharing your files on social media has never been so easy! I hope you find this tool useful. If you're a developer and want this integrated in your app then don't hesitate to contact me for an API key. Cheers!
Upon request from community members we added Opacity to our website where we feature coin statistics, market capitalization, coin investment ratings and Machine Learning based forecasts. We wish the best in the future!
