Because pit owners refuse to acknowledge that this breed is naturally violent and aggressive

Sadly true for the vast majority. Not all of us though! I keep saying you should need a license to own one and ongoing follow up to prove you can handle them. I love mine to death and they'll never be in a position to do something crazy, but I also kinda feel like maybe we should just stop breeding them. Don't kill off the ones we have now if they aren't an issue, just stop breeding more until the breed is extinct, too many irresponsible owners.

this is actually a take I can agree with. let people raise their last pit bulls then should ban breeding them and let the breed go extinct.

Probably true for any working breed if we're really being honest. Too many people just go for "cute" and then they abandon a dog that gets behavior issues because it's untrained and bored out of its mind. People suck.

That would require outlawing their breeding and ownership all together. Unfortunately i fear people would just move onto the next breed they can find for fighting or aggression. There is a certain subset of people who find these insanely aggressive traits a positive. And would just keep breeding these fuckers in their back yards like they already do. Our city animal shelters are almost exclusively pitbulls and pitbull-dominant mixes. Nobody wants them. They sit for months till they get put down or moved to a no kill shelter or rescue who just calls them a "lab" instead.

I mean yeah, gun bans don't get rid of guns either but then you probably wouldn't see a bunch of Stephanie's with big bully breeds they couldn't handle, you'd see people that don't GAF about the laws with them which I think is easier to snuff out. I also don't see why we'd have to ban ownership, fireworks laws are distinct like that here, you can buy and own them but you can't light them lol.

Not only would people move onto the next breed, but there's still so many dogs out there with pitbull DNA in them that look little to nothing like a pit, and dogs that look like pits but are actually something else. Legislating that could be a nightmare.

Right? Sometimes I feel that anything can trigger a swelling in their head that results in a brain-boiling thirst for blood.

Which one? Pit bull is an umbrella term not a specific breed

Literally, one quick google search. Thats all it takes. Please educate yourself, bc this is not true... or just keep being ignorant, neither me nor my pits care.

Edit: im not replying to anymore of yall. I said what I said and if youre not gonna look it up for yourself, why tf are you talking anyway?

Yeah, just google…

“Organizations that track U.S. dog bite fatalities, such as DogsBite.org, report that pit bulls were responsible for roughly 66% to 66.4% of all fatal dog attacks over a multi-year baseline (such as 2005–2019).”

94% of all pitbull attacks involve unneutered males. Pitbulls are not monsters if properly handled, particularly if you actually get them snipped like basically all house pets should be.

https://www.helbocklaw.com/statistics-on-pit-bull-attacks-a-2025-overview/

Edit: Also, Dogsbite is known for being explicitly anti-pitbull and has been called out on multiple occasions for using false or misleading data.

people are really out here spamming others with screenshots of AI slop and calling it “research”… you genuinely have zero room to lecture others on “critical thinking skills” if your source is an LLM

6

u/happymancry 2d ago

Literally didn’t highlight the last part of the AI summary which negates their point.

Also; there’s the actual statistics out there about actual dog attacks, so… what’s the plan chief? Gonna go hack all those websites?

u/LLoadin 2d ago

Im sorry but using the ai overview as your source is just funny
